The Bevis and Butt-head crack up got Heidi Gardner nervous she would get fired. She laughed so much and so did much of the cast just a few weeks ago when they did that skit. Funniest thing they have done on SNL in a decade.
Will definitely go down as the greatest break on SNL… and that’s what the cast is known for… trolling each other! She said during rehearsals, Michael didn’t expose so much forehead and gums, so she was getting the real thing live!

They are tryinig to have a Debbie Downer moment. This was staged and so obvious.
That and Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz did it all the time and they were fine. Maybe it goes to how much things have changed in two decades.

I only saw her break character twice. The other one was in The Californians where she was supposed to spray clean the mirror but the spray was locked.
I mean Vanessa kept her straight face in the Kristen & Maya Showgirl sketch. I thought she is unbreakable.
The dead silence after “ebenezer snooze” was so funny

The Ebeneezer snooze line is so epically bad it wrapped around to amazing 🤣🤣
That joke was on point.
Seth has told the story before. Taran was sure the joke was going to bomb but Seth made him keep it in because he was sure it'd get a laugh which is why he lost it when it got crickets.
I don’t blame Heidi one bit 😂.
The way Mikey Day twitched but then recovered while Heidi continued to absolutely lose it might be my favourite SNL moment of all time
Heidi already broke during the rehersals but laughed more during the live 😂
Mikey Day, who played Butthead in the skit, said in dress rehearsals he looked way worse. She said he didn't look human. 😂😂😂

I miss Beck Bennett
He was in a movie called _Office Race_ with Joel McHale that was pretty good, but a lot of it involves inside jokes about running, so it might not be for everyone.
I absolutely love him in the Matt Shat skit with Margot Robbie.
That was the actual only time Beck ever broke

Keenan frequently breaks... Hes pretty good at holding it together, but he definitely is not someone who inwould say doesnt break.

I think he's just pretty good at recovering and not going completely off the rails
I'd say Kenan almost never FULLY breaks. He does a lot of mouth twitching trying to prevent a smile or a chuckle but very rarely does he fully laugh out loud and isn't able to deliver his lines
@@dredgenfaith I'd say Vanessa Bayer is the same way. I think she came close to breaking more often than people realized, but she was able to hide it behind a toothy grin. (The cleaning bottle 'fail to squirt' from Californians is still my favorite Bayer break.)
I came here to say the same about Keenan Thompson. He very often breaks-even if just a little-but it’s endearing.
On another note, I just can’t get over the progression of his acting from he’s Keenan & Kel days. My kids loved that show!

I could not believe that Melissa didn't crack during the Father Class Day skit showed, but her reaction when Adam Driver stabbed the crow was even more funny!!
My favorite will always be the Debbie Downer at Disney World skit when almost the entire cast broke 😂

Am I the only one who actually thinks it's funny when they break? People act like it's a bad thing but I think it's hilarious. I couldn't contain myself if I was that woman looking at butthead either Haha
What makes it so funny is how rare it is or how hard it is to make some of them break. It feels special or like an accomplishment. If they broke all the time (ehem, Jimmy Fallon) it just gets annoying
It depends on the circumstances. There are definitely times where I find it absolutely hilarious when they break. Other times, it seems to make a low-quality sketch just go on longer.
Don't get me started at Jimmy Fallon! He has always been so annoying! @@Elmonsoon

LOL, such a good comment! Kyle Mooney deserves the same success as Tim Robbins found, when he got close to zero recognition during his SNL tenure. I just love Kyle's approach to comedy. His weird sketches, especially purposeful bad acting ones!
I disagree with some of these people having "never" broken (depending on how old this is, I suppose), but I think the funniest thing about Taran's is he didn't laugh because it was funny, but because it _wasn't_ 🤣 He was like "wait, surely I didn't read that correctly"

@@parryyotter way off kiddo. Comedians dont get fired for breaking character on SNL. Why would they try to get each other to break character if they would get fired for it? You can go back amd watch back when Chris Farley was on and he would try to get Spade to break character every skit together. Jimmy Fallon would break character all the time. They're comedians they have fun with their job

To be fair though, Bill Hader could never keep it together. He was on the verge of laughing his ass off every single time in every single sketch.

I remember watching the "New Girlfriend" sketch live. When Vanessa broke, I feel into a laughing fit. She is usually rock solid, so it all felt special.

The best part was the Vanessa Bayer clip because everyone tried to compose themselves but couldn't. It was a Fred Armisen skit where he looks like Edna Mode as the new girlfriend and it was so weird and ridiculous that everyone was trying to hide their laughter

I hoped you will put Vanessa on #1 spot, she didn’t break a character even if everyone around her is laughing. I even thought she has a weird sense of humor because as I recall she broke character twice and the reason she laughed was so random
