Nacho’s with an extra side of guacamole, chicken as the protein. I don’t cook food when backpacking I make an organic paste mixture then ration it each day. To me, personally, the dehydrated food is way over salted and attracts animals. Getting used to the mixture takes discipline but my body was happier and zero cramps.
Something with a lot of fat, like a bacon double cheeseburger and fries. And some ice cream. My body craves a dose of fat after a lot of exertion on low fat food. Not healthy to eat it all the time, but once in a while is fine.
Great video Alice. I grew up in Ucluelet in the 60's and 70's. Back then it was known as the Lifesaving trail for shipwrecked mariners. Interesting to see how it has evolved. Cheers Bruce
I agree with many of the commenters that you beautifully captured the heart of this trail. I'm envious of the gorgeous weather you had on the trip. Love your channel!
This 2 part series was incredible! You absolutely killed it. We’re subscribers for life! And now my wife and I are definitely doing this next year! Thank you for inspiring!
Alice this maybe your best series yet. What a unique landscape and it seems your experience was serene to the maximum. Thanks for introducing me to this beautiful place.
Thank you for sharing this! So many places to explore out there! I need to add this to my list. Thank you for all the work in filming your adventures, too. I had not thought about the work until you mentioned having to do some of the places twice to get the shot. Wow! You do an amazing job!
Of all the content I have consumed in the past few months, this one, far and away, filled me with wonder and a sense of the goodness you bring to your exploration of our pale blue dot. Pardon the run on sentence but you inspire me!
Alice you are the amazing person. Chasing your camera, all the ladders, and the boulder field, you must have exhausted. Congratulations on finishing that tiff 50 mile trail hike.
Hi Alice 👋 Thank you, always great to hear from you 🙂 You always capture such amazing scenery, and local culture. Always impeccable work you put in and much appreciated my friend 🙏 Hope you have an awesome day, stay safe and take care 🙏 Appreciate you!
Wow, that was very cool, Alice. Too many things to comment on! That has to be the most treacherous trail I’ve seen. Sooo many obstacles. And the ladders, lol. And more ladders. I’ll bet those things are slick when they’re wet. Hiking through all that and then coming up on the crab shack would be quite a treat! The footage, editing, music and flow of the video was perfect.
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing journey with us! I watched part 1 last week and couldn’t wait for part 2 and it sure delivered. Fantastic shots and commentary! Can’t wait to see what you get up to next… The Kalalu trail in Kauai is amazing if you haven’t been! Love “never stop exploring” 🙌🏼
I have found a well ventilated, wide toe box trail runner (Like ASICS Gel Venture) with merino wool socks to be my favorite hiking foot wear. I’m not alone. Many hikers have moved away from boots. Not just to prevent blisters but a lighter weight shoe is less fatiguing than boots. Plus they dry out much faster. I carry a few 5” strips of Leukotape K. If I feel a hot spot I immediately stop and put a piece of Leukotape on it. With this arsenal I haven’t had a blister in many years. Another great video. Keep ‘em coming. Love the light weight cook kit. I’ll bet it’s lighter than a jetboil.
Walbran Creek is where we crossed the huge deep surge channel by jumping onto the halfway boulder and across, then around the sheer wall and round the corner back onto the beach shelf.
What a wonderful place, beautiful nature and this view is fantastic. it looks like heaven .I wish you good luck. I hope you have a great weekend. Cheers 🥂 from Tokyo , Alice💞💞
Hi Alicia. Just came across your video of your hike across canadaian west coast and now going through the rest of your content. Very inspiring and hope you continue with your videos.. Am in uk and you have motivated me to go on a few multi day hikes over here. Thank you.
Your a pleasure to watch Alice. Inspiring to watch a genuine lovely human share her life experiences with others. You and your videos make my day better. For the good that you are doing where can I go to help sponsor or donate to you lovely lady ? Greetings from Australia by the way 😊
I think this is my favorite video series you have done. Wow I want to hike this trail! I also appreciate the dedication to the walk by shots on this one, especially that ladder shot😳 I would have had to skip that one🤣
It's so crazy hot here in Texas that this cloudy weather looks fantastic. Average temperature for the last 7 and for 10 days onward is 104°F with humidity making it feel like 112°F. Can't wait for the mid september cool off
You gave me goosebumps Alice. Splendid filming, really like the opening shot from above and throughout the hike. Have you got sock liners before getting there? You mentioned something about blisters while beach walking almost barefoot. You did very well in 6 days. I am returning (for good I hope this time) to the West Coast soon. I miss the area, the coastline and foggy weather... and I have to do Cape Scott. Its a bit easier than the WCT but the scenery is like being at the end of the world. Which is in a sense. Stay beautiful. Thanks for sharing. 🇨🇦 🥾 🇺🇸
Thank you Radisson you did tell me about the sock liners and I totally forgot. I’m going to add those to my Shopping cart now so I don’t forget but I will say no shoes was the best! I loved being in just socks and feeling the ground
Gordon River isn't the finish line because the trail continues around the edge of the bay to Port Renfrew through muddy trails for at least another 10 KM maybe more, so we just signalled the boatman at Gordon River and took the short cut water taxi across in the shuttle which back in 79 was just a speed boat.
Yeah took this trail way back in the 1980’s for a few times,no reservation needed,no problem hitchhiking to the trail with local First Nation peoples, honouring respect to the region so hope all people do same.Peace from a west coast Canuck.
This was great and super helpful. I know the feeling of having to do everything twice! Question. If you did it again, would you still bring the tripod?
"backpacker obstacle course" - i agree, it would have been more challenging if it had been raining a lot, ladders, boardwalks, logs would have much more slipperier. You might want to do some research into getting some jungle boots, they have vent holes to let the water out, rot resistant leather & nylon material, the knock-off boots are cheaper and cost around $35, the ones the military are using are made by Altama , for this trail they would have worked well, 2 types of traction designs, the panama type sheds mud & clay faster, the diamond type would give better grip on logs and typical trail conditions. You did a great job and some viewers might forget that for every trail shot, you have to go back and retrieve the camera & tripod. South Manitou island holds some record size trees for Michigan and i think maybe the country, largest white cedar tree, you can catch a ferry to the island from Leeland.
@@AliceFordAdventures Beaver Island and Isle Royal would be worth a visit, you might want to check out the Apostle Islands and Door Peninsula and Garden Peninsula.
I did do a 10 mile trek thru the woods once, it was great, nothing bad happened but there were no trails and at the end I did realize it wouldn't take much to go wrong (no cell phones then) for me to just disappear. I also grouse hunt, have deer hunted but a few bucks later not really that interested. I love the wild, especially the landscapes, I am getting older so the woods is more of a concern for me personally, I guess I've seen enough in the wild to question what I am doing vs a picture next to a bison in Yellowstone or better yet seeing how close I can get to a grizzly or a black bear (wth.)
I so have a hard time thinking anyone solo hikes 50 miles, its probably the city boy in me, I get there are fewer people around but at the end of the day that doesn't even sound safe, even in Canada. I hope you have someone behind you or near you or an emergency device beacon, somethin. Bridge was is cool lol, gorgeous views. Cheers.
Well the difference is that this is a trail with markers and it’s almost impossible to get lost. Walking through the woods without a map or trail is a totally different story. Glad you made it back safely
I'm so happy I discovered your channel! I am hiking WCT this year. How do you get those shots on the ladder? You don't seem to be holding a camera, and its not obviously attached to you - it's like its floating beside you! Thanks 🙂
What’s your first meal after getting off a backpacking trip? I had a pasta and a poke bowl after this one.
I love having a bacon cheeseburger after a long run or hike!! Totally unhealthy, but a nice reward!
Two cold beers and a greasy thick hamburger with all the trimmings as a side order 🍔🍺🍺

I really admire the fact that you are a one person video crew. I mean, you gotta run back and grab the camera every single shot...you totally rock!

Great hike Alice. I said wow several times to myself watching this video. I will do this same hike within the next 5 years.
