      Donovan Rayis you said it right, but then took a wrong turn left. Music is a very personal experience. I love both songs. However i dont see why its titled my apocalypse II. it really doesnt carry much over from the first one. Itll carry a lot of criticism for that that it wouldnt have attracted if it had been its own song.

      Marque Rzeznik definitely doesn't match. id say the same for the guillotine 4.. not that it doesn't match the guillotines but it doesn't deserve to be a guillotine. i like this song more than the first apocalypse. even tho they don't really connect

    • @darkstar1481
      @darkstar1481 9 лет назад +4

      Well the guillotine has a connection if you look for it. I mean you have to really say ok thats that . Like look at the lyriscs at the perspective that the "soldier" has gone home and is now suffering from memories and the demons of what hes done and is living his nightmares. Like some with ptsd would be doing.

    I've walked this road of misery
    That's where I found my comfort
    So I pick and chose my company
    But one is a lonely number
    I am all I've got
    This is the breaking ground of what you are not
    [Chorus:]
    What happened to me again
    I'm slipping through the cracks
    I've seen the light, the afterlife
    Of reliving my past
    And when will it ever stop?
    It's very clear, my biggest fear is falling from the top
    Falling from the top
    I've had my days where I found peace
    But i am falling back down
    And I want to believe that the grass is green
    There's only one way to find
    Over and over and over again
    This is unbelievable
    From this day on, I am all I've got
    [Chorus]
    All I want is to be adored
    Find someone who wants nothing more
    When I was young, disowned and pushed away
    And that's why I wanted all this fame
    (Wanted all this fame)
    But you're to blame
    Over and over and over again, and again
    I'm slipping through the cracks
    I've seen the light, the afterlife
    Of reliving my past
    And when will it ever stop?
    It's very clear, my biggest fear is falling from the top
    Falling from the top
    Falling from the

    And for anyone wondering how this is a sequel to the original My Apocalypse, look at the song structures and lyrics. They share the same song structure and the themes in the lyrics are akin to one another.

    • @brandonlane4456
      @brandonlane4456 9 лет назад

      Maybe its just easier to say the original is better? I mean I understand why its so necessary to defend the original but you have to give fir and ronnie the respect their music deserves...

    • @8BITBASKIN
      @8BITBASKIN 9 лет назад +2

      Brandon Lane
      The original is better for various reasons.
      1.) My Apocalypse was an emo song written during the height of the emo phase of music. Trying to make a sequel to a song for a genre that hasn't been relevant in five years isn't going to live up to the original that was specifically made during the height of that genres popularity. Imagine if Backstreet Boys came back this year and tried making a sequel to Backstreet's Back. The boy band pop isn't relevant so it wouldn't live up to the original as a sequel.
      2.) The song was written by 5 people who all were like a family and put themselves into that song. Making a sequel with an entirely new set of people naturally won't live up to the original. Jacky, Derek, and Ryan weren't there when My Apocalypse was made. They have no emotion or feeling invested in the song. They wrote a sequel to a song they had zero part in. What if after John Lennon had died, the other 3 Beatles had gotten together and made a sequel to one of his songs with a new singer? It wouldn't work.
      3.) Monte is all about finesse and style. Jacky is all show and slop. Every Jacky solo is sweeps. Every Monte solo is diverse and goes from taps to sweeps and everything in between. The great thing about My Apocalypse' solo was you could feel the time and emotion Monte put in crafting it and the build-up it created. Jacky's solo was just sweep sweep sweep. It's lazy and an insult to the original. Imagine you spent all day baking a wonderful cake for a friend's birthday and someone else spent like two minutes buying a shitty WalMart cake and your friend said "We should give both cakes equal respect" and basically put your amazingly crafted cake on equal par with the other guy's shitty bought one.
      4.) It's a song that Max, Monte, Robert, and Omar all had a part in creating with Ronnie. Imagine you and your friends create something together that you all are proud of and one of them gets a new group of friends and makes a follow up to it as if they all created it? Probably wouldn't sit well with you.
      5.) Ronnie in ETF was lyrically better than anything he's done in FIR. And, again, musically, it felt more put together. FIR is too flashy. They care more about style than substance. ETF was the opposite back then.

      Emo and scene were big at the same time, but brokeNCYDE was scene. Compare the two bands. LEAGUES of difference. Scene is just the glittery emo, anyways.

    Why are people of the back saying that this song is nothing compared to the first?
    Have you heard My apocalypse when it first came out like the original fans? Probably not if you're another 14 wannabe hardcore loser
    Or at least a few of you can really talk about this song.
    I was a freshman when my apocalypse 1 came out and everyone had Etf on their iPods at the time.
    The reason myA is so good is because if you heard it like me when it came out, it reminds you of the memories at the time when it came out. That's why this song has no emotion connection because you are in a different part of your life.
    This song is amazing in my opinion.
    If escape the fate released this song everyone one would of gone nuts for it.
    The intro for my apocalypse 2 is in par with my apocalypse 1 , they are both equally beautiful.

      Nicolas Leon I think My Apocalypse 1 is about defeating something that's holding Ronnie back but I think the 2nd one is about Ronnie's fear of losing the progress he's made and going back to drugs or other things. That's just my interpretation and I think the 2 are linked based on my interpretation but Ronnie's idea when he wrote it could've been anything so I dunno.

      @Masto7 9 лет назад +2

      Jared Raikowski I think you misunderstood me, I'm not asking for a DIYLF part 2
      I'm saying don't make this song a follow up to a perfect first song

    • @8BITBASKIN
      @8BITBASKIN 9 лет назад +3

      Jared Raikowski
      He can't make something like his first album. Nobody can. The genre is dead. ETF was a high point of the whole emo bands movement and it hasn't been relevant in quite some time, to the point no band is doing it now. It's not about desire. It's about the fact that
      a.) It would do terribly. The whole emo trend was a phase, for fans and bands alike. It'd have a small following but not like something that's relevant by today's standard.
      b.) You can't have an entire genre disappear off the face of the Earth for five years and expect one guy to be able to replicate it when he had four other people who were part of that time helping him. It's not like Jacky, Derek, or the others were in big bands during that time. Ronnie is the only one with experience there and there's no way he could write an entire album in the same vein as one he wrote with 4 other people on his own.

    The solo is so lazy.
    Don't get me wrong, Jacky is very skilled, but it seems like all he can do is sweep. He's like a Synyster clone.
    But if you're going to pull off a sequel to a song that Monte wrote a solo for, you have to put in effort. You put a song off DIYLF to shame if you don't pay proper homage to Monte's style and Jacky is just too sloppy in comparison.
    It's like comparing Burger King to a top burger chef. Sure, it's still a burger, but it hardly measures up.
