The front camera is capable of recording in 4K at 30 fps ONLY , or in 1080P at 30 fps or 60 fps. Many have noted that the camera recording at 1080P at 60 fps is superior to 4K for smoother video and better license plate recognition. The rear camera records only in 1080P at 30 fps. The internal Lithium-Ion battery, rather than a capacitor, remains an issue on all 70mai dash cams. Battery failures are reported to be common when exposed to extreme high vehicle interior temperatures, or temperatures below -10 deg. Celcius in northern winter conditions.
Interesting - I always find the 30fps.to be clearer. The 60p is awesome in daytime, but worse at night.
Is it possible to run the dashcam without battery? I am going to run it using a hardwire kit.
@@joost00719 Good question. I'm not sure what the function of the battery is, if the camera is hardwired to have power whether the vehicle is on, running, or off.
@@TechMishka I think the image quality is great, but living in Florida, I'm concerned about the lithium battery being in full view of the sun, especially as there seems to be no way to simply remove the camera from the screen. It would be helpful if they made a version with a base attached to the screen, without any electronics save possibly the wiring, and then the camera head could be stored out of the hot sun when necessary.
Is there a camera that you have viewed with the same image quality, but with capacitors?
Sound quality from the internal microphone is ok, but not a major decision point for me.
@@TechMishka1080p 60fps is often clearer when both cars are turning. 4K 30fps is usually clearer when looking directly forward.

Is it possible to sync the files on the dashcam with my NAS? Preferably via a Docker container or something like that.
You can, but this is nothing that can be done from the dashcam app or something.
@@TechMishka Ah that's awesome. I actually placed an order a few hrs ago. I hope to automatically sync all the files to my NAS once it is connected to my home wifi.

How much does the camera cost???
I've ordered this yestarday, I am already using the A800s with hardware kit on my car and I'm looking to move the A800s on the rear and have the A810 on the front but I dunno what to think about the 4k/30fps on the A800s and the 4k/25fps on the A810... that's my major concern.
Well, not a big deal, unless you plan to do some video editing or production out of it.
@@TechMishka I usually post tiny portions on my instagram, close calls and whatnot, but I think it varies, because I've seen people have it on 4k/30, I'm in EU so maybe is different here ?
I love this dashcam! It has a great sensor that captures everything in high quality. The only thing I wish it had was a CPL filter to reduce the glare from the windshield. And maybe a 2x optical zoom feature like some Xiaomi phones have. That would be awesome for AI zooming in on license plates or other details in case of an accident. But overall, this is a fantastic product and I highly recommend it!
There actually is a CPL filter kit available already. Plus - the glass of the lens is designed to reduce flares and glares.

Does parking mode work on both cameras at the same time or is it only enabled for the front camera?
It works on both.
The parking mode is only activated by "movement" identified by the front camera, but once activated it turns both cameras on. A bump to the rear of the vehicle will activate the front camera and turn both cameras on. Someone could conceivably approach your vehicle from the rear, enter your vehicle and steal your car without being recorded. If your parking in your home garage, for example, your best to back into your garage with the front of the vehicle facing the main garage door, rather than the back wall, so that the camera is activated when the garage door is opened.

There should be an option in the settings, but if you change it it will.apply only for newly recorded videos.
I'm about to get for many duty cars but I'm afraid of batteries since I live in Izmir. At the moment the temp is 35°C, sometimes goes for 45°C. What should I do? Thanks!

Hi excellent video and excellent Dash Cam, I have the 800 70 Mai but I will also buy the 810 later, I recommend using it while driving, very useful but better not to leave it unattended in the car during a coffee stop they broke the lock on my car car and Dash Cam stolen

Thank you for a detailed review, but you totally did not discuss the parking recording. Like how quickly it started recording after something bumps the car.
There is the option to record after a collision, but you can also rely on a time lapse, which is a lot more reliable.
How hot can the camera get and how cold??
It has a battery inside, so be careful. Tolerance is decent though.

i'm looking to buy a dash camera. but if i whant'T to sell my car or whan't to take the main camera with me on another car the sticker on the shiel might be a problem....
It won't - use a basic smartphone screen folio.as a layer between the sticker and the windshield.
The image looks like it was heavily sharpened during image processing. Do you know if it's possible to reduce or even disable sharpening in the settings?
While sharpening makes the images appear crisper, it can actually make things less readable. Basically, it adds "fake" details that aren't actually there, which tricks our brain into thinking the image is sharper than it really is. These fake details can distort letters or numbers, which is clearly visible around 07:00. The license plate appears sharp, but the letters have a weird shape. Our brain is very good at interpreting blurry images but it struggles with these distortions, so heavily sharpened images are often harder to read.
The other issue is that video compression in these cameras is lossy, which means that the processor has to throw out some of the details to make the file size smaller. If you add a lot of fake details, the processor has to throw out more of the real ones to get to the same file size.
If you do need sharpening, it's much better to let the camera store as many of the real details as possible by not adding any fake ones (=disabling sharpening). You can then load the files onto your PC and use an editing software to sharpen the videos, then save at a higher bit rate than the camera can. This will produce much more detailed videos.
There should be such an option in the menus. Most dashcams have sharpenss levels set to really high.
We are finally starting to see decent dashcam and these new sony sensors are the right stuff, manufacturers need to step up their soc system to keep up like in this case, 4k image does require decent chip. Great review as usual, keep up the great work and happy holiday season

@@TechMishkaStreet Storm CVR-A7620, Prestigio Roadrunner 525, Intego vx - 760 dual, и много много ещё регистраторов с углом обзора 160-170 градусов без рыбьего глаза, но давно сняты с производства, лет 7 не выпускаются

I think the sharpness isn't very good. At 6:51 the numberplate of the VW Golf is unreadable and it's the same at 7:19 where the numberplate of the taxi is also unreadable. RUclips compression may be to blame, but your footage in VIOFO reviews seems to have better clarity. A higher framerate and bitrate at a lower resolution may also help.
Good points. I feel that it may have something to do with the angle and the reflections caused by the glass.
