  • Facing Absalom’s betrayal, David and his company fled Jerusalem and ascended the Mount of Olives. Alistair Begg explains how David’s suffering and exile anticipate and illuminate the later anguish and steps of Christ. There’s one key difference, though: David’s hardship was a result of his own sin, while Jesus, who never sinned, suffered for our transgressions to reconcile us to God.
    Scripture: 2 Samuel 15:23-37
    Preached: October 3, 2021

    Isaiah 53:5, he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed.
    For salvation, we just need to follow the way they did it in Acts? They were baptized in water for the removal of sins and filled with the Holy Ghost. Here's why! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. If we are to follow him, we must do the same thing. Death= repentance, Burial = baptism, and resurrection = being filled and rising again from the dead. That's what Acts 2:38 is.
    We must obey the gospel, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ... Matthew 7:21-23, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in Heaven. St John 3:3-5, EXCEPT a man, be born of WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT, he cannot enter into the kingdom of GOD.
    We can't come up with our own gospel. Galatians 1:8-9, But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Don't be cursed.
    One way for all people. Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritans. Our salvation has to match up with the scriptures and no scriptures on the subject can be taken away.
    Eternity is TOOO long to be WRONG! st, John 5:39, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
    The gospels show what Christ has done on the cross for us. The book of Acts shows us the beginning of Christ's Church and how to enter the Church, obeying Acts 2:38.
    The letters were written to the Church to show us how to behave now that we are born again into the Church.
    It's better to walk alone than to walk with a crowd going in the wrong direction.
    Are we supposed to follow the teachings of the apostles? Acts 2:42, And they continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrines. Ephesians 2:20, We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone.
    Don't get Titus 3:5 mixed up with James 2:14-26, about WORKS. One is a WORK of your OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS OR GOOD DEEDS and the other is a WORK OF FAITH. Titus 1:16, They profess that they know God; but in WORKS they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
    If you believe in this message, be blessed by God in helping to spread it in the name of Jesus Christ so people can get saved the right way. God bless you!

    • @nccognito2324
      @nccognito2324 2 года назад

      I believe you are adding baptism into Christ's salvation.
      Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this we will do if God permits. Hebrews 6:1-3
      For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:8-10
      If you continue it will be at your peril.

    • @rossdaboss1959
      @rossdaboss1959 2 года назад

      @@nccognito2324 I will continue! You don't understand what you reading. All scriptures have to harmony with each other. You can't do away with scriptures.
      Mark 16:16, he that believes and is baptized shall be saved. Colossians 2:12, Galatians 3:27, Romans 6:3-5, 1 Peter 3:21, Acts 2:38, Are we supposed to ignore these scriptures or obey them?
      You just don't understand the WORKS. Titus 3:5, is talking about YOUR OWN GOOD WORKS OR DEEDS. James 2:14-26, Is talking about Obedience to GOD a WORK OF YOUR FAITH. Noah believed and then WORKED OR OBEYING GOD"S COMMANDS.
      If I paid the full price for you to go to the game and you refuse to accept it, then you won't get into the game without the ticket even though I paid the full price for it. You didn't have to do any work or anything for me to pay for the ticket. You just have to obey me to receive it. Noah had to obey God to get salvation not just believe. Lot had to obey God to be saved out of Sodom not just believe.
      You getting things mixed up. You are right there was nothing we could do for God to set up salvation for us. That's like buying the ticket full price. You don't automatically receive the ticket. You have to do what is commanded you to receive it.
      Matthew 7:21-23, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

When did you receive him speaking in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance?
