I am convinced the revival of the series in the early 90s also had a big influence on Nintendo’s communication in the same era, notably the Japanese TVCM for Link’s Awakening which is pretty much a parody of Hyokkori Hyōtan-Jima.
It certainly was a journey when this was the last Famicom game on April. May 1992 only had 2 Famicom releases and June had 8 (5 of them released on the same day and it was one of the last times when that many Famicom games got released).
I actually really like the idea of a puzzle game with a story or cutscenes. Closest thing I can think of like that in any generation is Catherine, though.
well this is a bizarre one... also I feel like that 'hope you remember that song!' puzzle from another adventure game somewhere in the previous 900+ games.
As far as I can tell, the show exists in its entirety in Japan. So not lost media. Now, it can be a pain outside of Japan since it was distributed, and heavily edited, under several different titles. In the US it was best known as MXC (Most Extreme Elimination Challenge), though that wasn't the only title used with the footage.

That didn't occur to me. I would have included footage from that commercial just because it is such a direct reference.
@@RndStranger No worry, you can fix that when you start Megadriveryday 🤔
@@chazmaru9583 ...Surely that would be "Megadaily"! 😆
Don’t worry everybody ❗️More awesome games and RPGs on the Famicom will come soon ❗️
Not for the rest of the week, though. 😄
For this week, not really. The second Magical Taruruuto-kun game was a high note though.
@@MabelsFanboy Yeah

There are a few of them out there. Braid would be the best example of modern trends in that regard.
@@RndStranger Uggggh you reminded me how much I want to play Braid but I was waiting for the Switch port that's apparently gone vaporware :(
Using a gun to freeze ghosts is certainly novel
And then you can use them for Sokoban... So it's basically Eggerland!
Cool stream today BTW

GET YOUR TILES READY FOR THE TILE DEMON IS COMING TOMORROW ❗️❗️❗️🀄️🀄️🀄️
I personally love this game. Despite its clunky style of play it checks a buncha my boxes for "fun game." Also, it's just so darn cute...
Shame that so many cute games aren't actually fun. :/
Go RND ❗️Please do what chrontendo couldn’t finish yet ❗️
It's finished and uploaded. Unless youtube nukes my channel or dies themselves, we will get an ending.
cute sprites in this one too
Off topic but is Takeshis castle lost media too? Or just hard to come by in the states. Always been curious about that show

We also had an edited version of it in the UK that retained the the original title, but had it's own voiceover.
