You trying to load that sod onto your truck reminds me of my trip to Iceland when we went for a drive in the country and came upon a guy driving a forklift with a dead shark on it and having a difficult time keeping the shark from falling off the fork as he tried to turn the forklift. No matter what, there is usually always something that has to go wrong, but as long as you stay calm and give yourself a minute to think you can get everything back on track.
Why don't you start from nearest the sod pallets? You are walking and using wheel barrows over the fresh top soil causing depressions and a bumpy lawn.
But if they were to start where the sod pallets are, they would have to walk all over the freshly laid sod which is no good. Also usually you rake the soil as you go so they should be filling up those depressions with that soil they are raking before laying the sod.
