Im 11 days out from my VSG surgery! Super excited for what’s ahead. Loose skin or not, anything is better than where I was going. Im 23, 5”4’ and was 430 lbs.
@@sadianaeem176 hey!! So far so good. I rechecked my highest weight w my doctor and it was actually 438 lbs (weighed this on 8/1/20). My last weigh-in 3 days ago marked 342! 96lbs lost from my highest weight. My post-op weight was 405 and pre-op was 417
I'm an R.N. who is 4 days away from my 6 month post VSG mark. I've lost 77 lbs. Pre VSG I lost 75 lbs. So that's a total of 152 lbs. ! 🤯 🎉 Loose skin is definitely present. I also talk about it in my update videos. I get that question alot as well. Like Dr. Alvarez said, there are alot of determining factors. I don't regret having VSG at all. I wish I had done it sooner ! I can live with loose skin but not with medical complications due to excess body fat ! I love this channel ! ❤️
I'm one year post op. I have lost 70lbs so far. Soft skin but not saggy. I heard in a RUclips video flaxseed organic oil one spoon per day, lots of water and exercise should help prevent it. Pre op I weighted 215lbs my height is 5'4 one year now I'm 145lbs small and xtra small. My butt almost dissapeared 😅 but I'm so happy of how I look and feel. Good luck to all you guys. Go for it! You won't regret it. This Dr. Has been so helpful to me with his videos.
I'm a year and a half out from my sleeve. I have a small amount of loose skin on my arms and my thighs. I'm grateful that mine isn't very bad at all. But TRUST me, loose skin is much better than excess weight. It's worth it! I never realized how much pain I was in on a day to day basis just from being overweight. Loose skin does not cause me physical pain or affect my health. If I had it to do over I'd make the same decision
Thanks doctor I've had the sleeve surgery so far I've lost around 35 pound's. I'm about 7 weeks post surgery and I have to admit I was a little concerned about loose skin. My doctor will clear me for weight lifting next month. I can't wait. I've been walking every day and that helps me mentally and physically.
@@2003img you literally feel no hunger at all, you eat small portions and you get full quickly. It wasn't painful at all i didn't even vomit after the surgery.
I had (Roux-En-Y) Gastric bypass in 2017. I am one of the very few that have had serious and life threatening emergency. If I had done more research before, I would have gone with the sleeve. I am still grateful for the weight loss and yes, I have very disturbing loose skin. I would have started by mixing collagen peptides into my shakes. Live and learn. I love your videos because you are so honest. God Bless you and to anyone if you read this, don't close the door on surgical weight loss. Just find the right one for you and a Dr. That listens to your concerns and gives you the pros and cons for each type. i so wished I would have gotten the sleeve.. love and blessings to all.
I was going to have the sleeve surgery in 2014, but by the time they were ready to schedule it I had lost 150 on my own. I went from 103 to 400 after several spine surgeries. I walked off the weight, 1 step at a time, could not make it to my mailbox when I started, worked up to 2 miles 3 times a day. Got down to 180 and had a tummy tuck and hernia repair ( it was a fat pocket i later found out ). Then covid hit, I've gained 55 back, I decided, I'm 55 and menopause doesn't help. Im excited to this and wont cancel this time. 2/2/22 is my surgery date. Im at 236 currently. Ive lost over 100lbs 3 times in my life, on my own, so I have the skin hanging on my arms and inner thighs, but its ok, as long as I am healthy.
I have been fighting this decision for years. I have decided to take a leap of faith and go for it. I am 366lbs and 31 y/o. I am worried about the excess skin but more worried about leaving my 3 children behind. I have lost 32lbs this year but hit that brick wall.
Just came across your video, I have to say thank you because you really answered my questions about the loose skin issue. Today is September 20, 2021 and I am looking forward to seeing a skinnier me in the up coming year. I’m just getting started, and getting all my information. Thank you again and God bless 👍🏻🙏🏻
Highest is 250, and 8 days from surgery my last weigh was 230.5 lbs and I am 5'5, so starting at the low end of acceptable bmi for surgery, so this makes me feel a lot more secure about potential loose skin Edit: also am only 24 so that should help too
Im 8 days away from getting my surgery im super nervous and my biggest dilemma is the loose skin. Im glad i came across this video. Its very true what you said its for my health. Thank you Dr

I am 19 and 249 pounds and I am currently wondering if I should get the surgery but the most I was worried about was loose skin I see now if you work hard there’s is ways to prevent it and even if not it’s better than being uncomfortable everyday I am trying to get smaller so when I have the surgery I won’t have to stress about the loose skin :)
I’m the same age and same size I’m looking into getting the surgery and I’m scared I may have loose skin afterwards. Are you still considering the surgery?
My surgery hasn’t been scheduled yet but I did just have a consultation. I’m prepared to look like a flying squirrel if it means I get to live longer 😅

Hi Jordan! Thanks for your comment, don't worry, you can get better results with your skin if you get in shape with exercise routines, many patients have a great experience with this and it is a less difficult experience with loose skin. You can do it! Good luck!
