  • At the end of Aincrad Kirito is slain by Kayaba. But WHAT IF instead of what occurred after that, Klein used the revival item Kirito and the campaign to finish Aincrad continued? Just what would change, if anything at all? In this video, I explore if this scenario is possible and what would occur as a result of it. Hopefully you find it entertaining :)

    For a start, Kirito doesn't die until after stabbing Heathcliff; he only imagines himself shattering, but doesn't actually do so until after Kayaba is defeated. The animation is lifted from Episode 1, when Kirito imagines himself being killed by that boar. In addition, after showing that, when the view returns to him, he hasn't gone all shiny and translucent just yet. That only happens after the "camera" returns to showing him in the present.
    We actually can be certain Klein saw people die in the interim. There's a decent chance he did either in the Floor 50 or 67 Boss raids, in which we know casualties were taken, but even putting these aside, there's something else. Klein was part of the Laughing Coffin Subjugation Operation. So he 100% saw other players die in the time period in question. We know Klein didn't lose anybody in SAO, but a training or hunting accident seems entirely possible as well; that would be a situation where Klein could more easily intervene.
    Beyond just Heathcliff and Asuna, the KoB had lost its Forward Commander, Godfrey, in the Kuradeel incident. So the chance of the guild collapsing seems rather high.
    Unfortunately, the DDA, the largest front line guild by numbers, is at least as concerned with gaining glory for themselves as they are with clearing SAO. You hear one of the members of Fuurinkazan, Klein's guild, when they'd intercepted Kirito before the Christmas Boss appeared, note that some members of the DDA were willing to go Orange in order to obtain rare items. This also makes sense to an extent given what we know about the DKB's original leader, Lind, and his attitude in trying to put everyone in order as he sees fit. Asuna damn near tore him a new one way back on Floor 3.
    And I think Fuurinkazan is just too small in its form as we know it to be a convincing, leading force going forward as of Floor 76. Not to mention, after losing Kirito in spirit already, and then in every sense, would Klein be up to continuing to lead.
    Regardless, you hear Klein and Agil question whether it will even be possible to make it another 25 floors just after the Floor 75 Boss fight, upon learning the death toll.
    Floor 25 was a serious blow to the front line as well. Fully half of Kibaou's ALC was wiped out, and perhaps something like a third of the total Assault Team at that time. And this was the exact event that cleared the stage for the KoB to emerge and make a strong impression right off the bat on Floor 26.
    Going after the Christmas Boss itself was a suicide attempt. Kirito knew this, and by his own inner monologue, expected it, even welcomed it as a form of atonement.
    Due to "Sugary Days", we know Klein and Agil knew Kirito and Asuna were married.
    And here's the conundrum. Neither Kirito nor Asuna would want to live without the other, and so reviving one without the other would almost certainly result in suicide.
    Coma patients can, in fact, survive for quite some time on Life Support.
    External factors that I'd find much more pressing would be Kikuoka Seijirou and Yuuki Shouzou. Even if I put aside the possibility that Kayaba comes to see the players as demoralized, and ends things either by releasing the survivors or killing everyone, we still have some snags. Kikuoka was a Beta Tester, and it seems likely he encountered Kirito way back then, or at least heard the rumors about him. Seeing both Kirito and Asuna are dead, he might lose faith that the players can complete the task at hand. As for Shouzou, does he keep it together, or perhaps do something rash in his grief over Asuna's death. Considering he runs the company overseeing SAO, that's a very real worry.
    Those Bosses from Floor 90 on are supposed to have the Last Bosses 3rd tier of AI Kayaba designed, like An Incarnate of a Radius, but also, "White Yuna".
    I have my doubts about Lisbeth continuing as a blacksmith after the deaths of both Kirito and Asuna She is teased as far back as Floor 4 in Progressive, indicating that she and Asuna have a very long and deep friendship. Losing that, and then Kirito, who made Liz feel as though there actually was something "real" in Aincrad, well...
    In all honesty, I think the story really loses its spark without Kirito and Asuna. And it goes without saying that the future arcs can never happen within this timeline.
    Well, that was depressing, though not really surprising. Unfortunately, even if others do find (some of) the other Unique Skills, Dual Blades seems uniquely designed to face off against Holy Sword. And even if someone new were to acquire Dual Blades, I just don't know. Kirito was just extraordinarily unpredictable and creative, to say nothing of how open he and Asuna were to the promise of that world. That's something that would be far harder to find than even a superhuman reaction time.
    Yeah, that got a bit long. I usually don't care for these "what if's", but I still left a [Like] on this video. Hope you find this at least interesting reading.

      @Villoresi 2 года назад +2

      @@tetraboom2739 I think the better question is, why wouldn't he? Asuna had been killed right in front of him, and Kirito was in utter despair and wishing for everything to end.
      Until the final, galvanizing anger against the Cardinal System overtook him and he pierced Heathcliff with Asuna's rapier, Kirito was awaiting the painfully drawn-out end.
      As described in the LN, his accelerated senses, like what would happen in battle, were denying Kirito a quick end in a moment of ultimate depression and hopelessness.

    If this what-if happened, I'd want it to narrate from Klein's perspective, focus on his development after Kirito's suicide and end with him finally defeat Heathcliff and avenge Kirito and Asuna, showing how much he grow to become an elite player, following Kirito's footstep.

  • @rowanthursday5860

    In the anime continuity, at least, I always took that to be probably what *did* happen. In the novel, Kirito explicitly stabs Kayaba *whilst* shattering- using his established ability and determination to push himself faster than the system wants to limit him to in order to do it in the time *whilst* Cardinal is telling him he's dead, but, in the anime, he appears to die, disintegrate, and then 'rewind' to stab Kayaba- which would be perfectly consistent with his avatar dying, and Klein using the revival item on him instantly, before the ten seconds have elapsed- an in-combat rez, in effect.
    This would make sense. Klein was paralysed, but we've been shown on multiple occasions in the season that paralysis is *not* total- you can make small, slow movements with your hand and arm, just with considerable difficulty. I believe the novel makes it specific that that's so you can use the menu in order to use antidotes if you have them. So- the previous Christmas, Kirito gives Klein the revival jewel, telling him to use it if someday a friend dies in front of him. At this point, they're already after the massacre of the ALS on floor 25, and boss fight casualties are low and rare, so it's entirely possible that Klein *doesn't* have another opportunity to do this, apart from Corvatz, where he doesn't really have time because there are the rest of Corvatz's men to save, on floor 74, before floor 75.
    So, in the fight between Kayaba and Kirito, Asuna gets herself killed, and Klein tries to get hold of the revival item to save her- but because of paralysis, this takes too long. He probably didn't hear Kayaba and Kirito agree that Kayaba would stop Asuna from killing herself, which presumably meant Kayaba deliberately disabled the microwave trigger signal being sent to Asuna's Nerve Gear- the only way he could really honour that promise. However, this does mean that when *Kirito* dies, Klein has the item already in hand and ready to use at once.
    This interpretation would also shed an interesting light on just why Kayaba smiles and deliberately lets Kirito kill him, at the end- throughout the game, Kirito has been the most promising player *except* for his refusal to step up to the plate and lead, because of his resistance to ever being part of a team. Here, at the end, the final piece falls into place- Kirito survives because of *teamwork*, making him finally the ideal virtual world hero in Kayaba's dream.

  • @LuckyPed10

    Problem with these is that Klein could have yelled to Kirito to take the revival item from him right after Asuna died.
    And also the fact that the whole final scene need to change so Kirito would die before killing Kayaba coz original he didn't die until after he hit kayaba. (the first shattering was his imagination)
    but if you put all problems aside, what would happen is the game will never be cleared and the Government will try to hack to the NervGear and free the players dispute the risk since they were already preparing to do it as mentioned in Sister's Prayer side story.
    But putting this also aside, since Kirito died, someone else could very well get the dual blade as long as they fit the criteria which was the player with highest reaction speed (plus the meditation skill if Kirito's guess was true)
    there is 10 Unique Skill and probably most of them would be found by someone by the point they reach floor 100.
    Also all these aside, if all of this happened this way and Kirito and Asuna never surpassed the system, Kayaba never plan anything after this and probably just kill himself fully so the later Arcs would never happens and VR gaming Technology get a huge hit forever.

    Actualy Klein did revive kirito because if you notice when klein meets asuna for the first time how klein describes kirito being addicting to fighting an always going on things alone during that moment when asuna says he's in good hands that's most likely the time klein gives asuna the revival item to her an she embeds that revival stone into her sword that sparkles at the end after heathclif dies so when kirito uses asuna sword to fight after he died within the 10 sec marker that's how he was able to revive and finnish off heathcliff so in a way asuna an klein both saved kirito

    • @Andysomethingisfoolish
      @Andysomethingisfoolish 8 месяцев назад

      Klein did not revive Kirito for 2 reasons. 1, the item didn't exist at the time of writing. And 2, Kirito dies at the end of the fight when he shatters and goes to the outside of Aincrad to meet Kayaba.

  • @shuriken656
    @shuriken656 8 месяцев назад

    Okay hear me out what if Kirito had kept the revival item. He probably would've kept the item and sworn to himself that if anybody he held close died, he would use it on them. And on the 75th floor when Asuna died right in front of him in his arms, he would've used the revival item saving Asuna. From which point I think it would've been really nice to have them both finish off heath cliff or at least fought him until he retreated and if he retreated have them both finish the game together.
    Also, although Asuna theoretically could just be put in paralysis again there are a few things that could explain the first instance of her breaking out and the second instance where she is revived and how she could negate being paralyzed. In the first instance when she breaks out initially to save Kirito, she might have been able to do so either out of pure will power or if you happened to watch the SAO progressive movie: Scherzo of the deep night she gets a necklace that neutralizes poison, and paralysis. So, in the case that she kept that and was wearing it the paralysis would have no effect on her giving her the chance to save Kirito. The same can be said for the theoretical second instance where she is revived and can't be put back into paralysis because of yet again pure will power or her necklace.

    I think i’d like to see Klein be the one to kill Kayaba and take Kirito’s place. It would be bittersweet since Klein was the first friend he made. Basically be similar to Kirito and Eugeo.

  • @jonsmitt9769
    @jonsmitt9769 8 месяцев назад

    I’m unclear on the lore but based on Godfrey and Kirito experience with Kuradeel it seems players could activate objects while paralyzed, mainly paralysis antidote or maybe teleport crystals. Or surrender items to bandits like laughing coffin who specialized in poison and extracting items from players.
    So maybe Klein could activate the revival item while paralyzed and since a player’s body disappears when killed it’s logical the item is applied in the menu’s friend list rather than at the body. On the other hand, to revive the pet Pina, they needed to apply the revival flower to a fragment of Pina.
    Would Klein know how to use a 1 of a kind single use item with only 10 seconds to apply. It’s not uncommon for gamers to accidentally waste something because they didn’t understand its application.
    Where do you get the idea Heathcliff teleports away leaving Klein 4 seconds to revive Kirito? I haven’t read the novels but in the movie I don’t see anything of what you’re describing post duel.
    In a movie while Kirito is with “the counselor” it’s stated he was present at all the boss fights.
    Since we don’t see Klein use the item, it’s not likely the authors just forgot to mention it as the explanation for how Kirito got 1 more strike at Heathcliff. At the end of the day SAO doesn’t do a good job explaining the game mechanics and we’re left to speculate.

    • @Andysomethingisfoolish
      @Andysomethingisfoolish Месяц назад

      The reason we don't see Klein using the item is because it didn't exist at the time of it being written. The revival item is from vol 2, while the Kayaba fight is in vol 1.
      Plus if Klein uses the item to save Kirito, there's no reason for Kayaba to be interested in Kirito at all, since the main reason he was interested in Kirito and Asuna was because they showed him human will transcending the system.
      SAO does explain mechanics pretty well, the anime cuts most of the explanations for some reason.

    Klein was able to break the paralysis due to the effects of love after all that's how asuna broke the paralysis, and besides asuna no one loved kirito more then klein it shows in every episode they are seen together, in the end when they go separate ways klein is always seen crying showing how much Klein cared/loved kirito as a brother, Heathcliff even protests to this about how she broke the paralysis and then notes that it was love that did it, so if someone had enough love for a person like klein and asuna would give them basically immunity to the paralysis effect. (I know it sounds stupid but that's legit how it went in the manga's the progressive storyline and in the anime)
