One reason this cruiser has less probability to exists than a unicorn, a dragon and Sega Dreamcast 2 combined is the fact that it has the Type 5, 15 cm AA gun as main armament, the largest dedicated Heavy AA gun ever built. A gun ordered by the Imperial Japanese Army to specifically shoot down B-29 bombers. No way in hell would the Japanese Army relinquish this gun for use by the Japanese Navy, their real sworn enemy. No way in hell would the Japanese Navy be insulted to mount an Army gun on one of their ships seeing they already had the excellent 15.5 cm/60 3rd Year Type naval gun in their inventory. 🤣
No wonder the Imperial Japanese military was an ineffective fighting force. The IJ Army and IJ Navy’s rivalry was so toxic, no unit cohesion whatsoever existed. By the time they were able to get their act together, it was just too late, Japan was destined to lose WW2.
@@gabrielgaitan4856 I'm astounded that the Japanese managed to keep Americans occupied for nearly 4 years taking into account the antagonism the army and navy serviced had for each other.
The navy would've probably taken the gun and slapped another number on it and called it their own design lol

IJN Shimanto was developed as a design draft of the Mogami-class cruisers, but the guns were different. That is because they are using a late-war land-based anti-aircraft gun developed and used by the Imperial Japanese Army. More specifically, the “Type 5 15 cm AA gun”. While only two of these were produced before the end of the war, the only time they were put in action near Kugayama, they proved to be effective anti-aircraft weapons, shooting down two B-29 Superfortress bombers and forcing the Americans to avoid the area.
The problem is that… well it’s a weapon from the army and as some of you may know, the Imperial Japanese Army and Imperial Japanese Navy hated each other with passion, coupled with complacency and overconfidence within the higher ranks of both Imperial Japanese Army and Navy officers and admirals (with the exception being Isoroku Yamamoto), they communicated as little as possible with one another or just completely refused to cooperate. As for how this 150 mm gun might have landed in the hands of the navy, one of the potential scenarios would be that a navy spy got the plans from an army facility but even then, you would have the challenge to turn a land-based artillery equipment into a ship-based one.
Shimanto is named after the Shimanto River, which is considered to be the longest river on Shikoku Island. Starting from a source deep in the mountains, the river makes its way to the Pacific Ocean 196km away, twisting and turning in lush little canyons and drawing strength from tributary rivers, until it becomes the blue-green ribbon you see in the Shimanto River Valley area.
One of the intriguing sights along the river are the chinkabashi bridges. These stocky submersible bridges are designed without balustrades so that during floods debris like fallen trees simply flow over them. Chinkabashi don't inhibit the flow of the river, making it less likely to burst its banks, and the bridge is also less prone to being washed away.
The one thing that alot of people don't know is that the Flak Accuracy is above average. Don't let the stats fool you. The Flak tend to spawn in front of enemy aircraft instead of off to the sides.
I pulled the tier 4 and 5. The torpedoes are what makes these ships :)
Honestly, running this ship with Space Fishy is a must try meme build imo. Get those torps to actually good amount of speed, with a reload of about a minute, and a range of over 15 km. People never expect them coming and with a concealment of 9km it’s a lot of fun.

Hey Spartan, I have searched through the GXP ships and I found a couple contenders to Massa maybe. I was thinking I could either get:
Atago, which is a fire starter and one of the lowest cruisers in the game, in terms of height.
Freesland, the strong gunboat.
Yolo Emilio, the yolo boat.
Azuma, the cruiser puncher.
Or just Massa.
Which one do you think would be a good choice to pick when I hit 750K GXP?

I think this new CL line well be fun, I only have one fully updated the first one, but I have chunked CLs with this one in fact on one CL I got 5 Cits. With those 15 guns it I have been destorying BBs secondaries, and AA. Its crazy to matter what I am taking something out.
I was looking forward to these crusiers as the main line is very good in my opinion but I just think that these crusiers are like the German ones, a floating dev strike. I mean I could be playing them wrong but it is very situational to do well in them tbh.
I’ve really enjoyed these Japanese light cruisers, been a lot of fun without feeling completely OP
The torps have the same issue as asachio they spread out way to much after 5km that ships can sail right thru with gk size gaps

My dude now and then you like to challenge your followers to a 1v1 in the practice lobby which was a brilliant idea by the way you should get some of your RUclipsr buddy's and make a fleet and challenge a fleet made up by your followers like 1v1 only you fill all the player slots

This thing is as good as a Rchester if not better in AA its Crazy.... everytime i Got atacked by a Carrier he just does it once in a Match and mostly then he learned fuck i lost my Entire Squad without doing a Drop.... i Love that AA its So soooo Good. And the Guns are Decent too, BUT u reallly need to be Focused in that Ship or u Are Goone too soon.
The AA is ass for an 89 rating. The damage is pathetic. I think its overinflated because it had some mounts with 6km range

Pero Spartan fuiste el mejor del equipo y por mucho las estadísticas hablan por si solas la mira de la nave se mueve muy rápido creaste incendios pero bastantes usaste ángulos de disparo que no te pusieron en una posición comprometedora y eso que no probaste el armamento de torpedos con el nuevo comandante yo creo que este nuevo crucero puede ser OP

For anyone who wants to try out a meme build, you can run a spare DD commander with Detection inspirations to get around 9km detection with Fake Radar (Radio Location) and sub 80 second torp reload.
I use space fishy to make the torps just that slight bit more faster
I can't be the only one to think that Atlantico's secondaries are extremely weak.. in terms of their survivability

Just like the normal cruiser line: Meh. The guns are weaker but better torps that the normal line. And they are mode of explodium, even more than the normal line and not that agile.
I got my range to 19km🥹. I chose range over reload. Its a fun ship tho
I’m convinced that Cleveland players are incompetent! Spartan was broadside and and didn’t switch to AP once 🤦🏽
Like I said before..I'm a cv player..the planes need to be stronger..and NOT made of paper..

Carriers are way more than annoying already, they do not need any buffs. They actively make the game worse, so now that they’re in the game, they should be as weak as possible. Being able to spot all ships from anywhere on the map is already OP as hell, they don’t need more survivability or damage

Honestly if you do like I did, look at Takahashi vs Shimanto. Which is the yet to be added Tier 8. Just by looking at the stats I think it’s a lil bit worse stat lines than it’s predecessor, the Tier 7 Shimanto. Is this just bc it hasn’t come out yet or am I tripping? Lmk
