Is Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree TOO HARD?

- Any game that comes from From Software has always been difficult. Be it Demon Souls, Sekiro, and of course Elden Ring. Well it seems its new DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree" is sitting at a mixed rating on steam due to said difficulty. Is this a case of players just needing to get good? Lets discuss.

Elden Ring is a 2022 action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware. It was directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki with worldbuilding provided by American fantasy writer George R. R. Martin. It was published for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 25 in Japan by FromSoftware and internationally by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Set in the Lands Between, players control a customizable player character on a quest to repair the Elden Ring and become the new Elden Lord.
Shadow of the Erdtree is a fully fledged expansion for Elden Ring that adds a whole new map with 70 New Weapons, 10 New Shields, 39 New Talismans, 14 New Sorceries, 28 New Incantations, 20 New Spirit Ashes, 25 New Ashes of War, 30 New Armor Sets and New Consumables & Craftables. The expansion DLC released on June 21st, 2024.

No, I beat Bayle and Messmer yesterday and I only needed maybe 7-8 tries to do it. The DLC is beatable. Just git gud
I know right! I put a big shield and focus on bleeding. Summons my mimic. Block all day and attack. Easiest game of my life! I don't know why people are complaining. Just adapt.
I needed like 80 haha but i still love it. This DLC is forcing me to try out different builds, for instance i used a shield for the first time when i fought against messmer. So it beeing challenging is perfect
Finally started the DLC and as mentioned, I dun goofed, and went into NG+ when I beat the game a few years back. Going through the paces to get to the DLC (academy to respec, fight Mohg and Radahn, etc.), I totally forgot how much fun it is to just to drop a point on the map and just go there. Also, the Mimic does work as long as the boss doesn't move too much (my mimic did _nothing_ fighting a dragon since it moved so much)
Got to learn those patterns.
Some people are just so use to getting everything handed to them in game. Learn at adapt.
Short answer: no.
Long answer: no, shadow of the erdtree is not “too hard”.
This is a game that encourages the player to plan. I've defeated Consort Radahn without shitty perfumes or those builds made from bugs. Just leveling and investigating weapons.
I mean tbe only time i had to change my build was with the final boss
It's challenging, wich is perfect. DLC is forcing me to try out new stuff to beat bosses, im getting way better at the game and it's a huge DLC wich means that now Elden Ring is an even more gigantic game than it was before and when i start NG+ again, it's gonna be awesome to play this huge game. Im glad it's not easy.
And that’s the best way to look at it. Change things up and it will be rewarding
People will take this as an insult, but this dlc is the epitome of get good. You can't mimic your way through this, bosses just do too much damage for that. Learn the attack patterns and learn how to avoid them. Level up the scadutree and ashes up and use each death as a learning experience. If you aren't learning something new each death then you're not using each life well.

It's FromSoftware's MO to make things not easy for the player and have them figure it out. People getting softer year by year and now complain about a game being to difficult. How about achieving a challenge every once in a while instead of complaining to get shit handed out because it isn't to your liking? Do they do this at their jobs too? Complain because something is too hard and not to their liking just for everyone to drop what they are doing and attend to little Timmy because he can't handle a challenge? Some people should look into the mirror and ask themselfs if they are the audience for this type of game and if they can set their mind to it to challenge themselfs. Because certainly a bunch of people who complain about it can't.
Why even bring on someone who hasn't played it
Lemon is a regular on the streams. He just happens to have not played the DLC yet as of the recording. I believe he has started it now though.

I, personally, found it pretty easy with the right build. Except Radahn. Fuck Radahn.

To say this DLC is difficult is to completely ignore the base mechanic of the DLC.
