Another horn salute, very cool. It seems you have fans riding in cabs brother! 👍 I've never picked up a railroad spike in a tire but have picked up several hooks from cargo tiedown straps, instant flat and unrepairable tire.
A COLD video of train action. Interesting spot in Marion. Love the cat and dog action. Stay warm out there. It was pretty cool you had the conductor give you a signal shoutout.
Love those wood built bridges, Brian. going to build one for my model railroad. Pets look happy and completely at ease with each other. My dog Bob is now 9 and a half years old, and is as lively as ever. Hope yours live long and happy lives, and with you and your family to care for them, that should be no problem. Have a good weekend, Brian. Regards Alan in Swansea, UK.
Toot toot ding ding ding that first train was for you, he said hello Mr Jawtooth !! Neat double diamond with the sound of steel in steel… music to our ears !! Another great video 👍👍 !!
Cool spot, love the old wooden bridge! Great that you're filming these cool old bridges and historic railroad place's so that future generations can see them, they probably won't be around much longer! Great video Jawtooth, thanks for sharing!
VERY INTERESTING .. THAT OLD BRIDGE WAS A GOOD FIND FOR YOU! DRESS WARMER ON THE COLD DAYS YOU'LL FEEL BETTER WON'T FEEL 5THE COLD AS MUCH... JT # 1 IN VIDEO'S
8:49 Marion, Ohio? That's one of my favorite railroad towns in the Buckeye State! I've been to Marion a few times to watch trains clattering over the diamonds! 12:59 Aw! That black cat is so cute!
Looking at that bridge I wouldn't be surprised if the center span hasn't been raised at least once for hi-cube boxcars and more recently tri-level autoracks and esp doublestacks for containers. Those absorbent. Pads also get tucked in near flange lubricators. I can hear Norfie thinking the dogs can go check the dark yard I'll guard the porch where the snacks are kept
Anyone who has ever been adopted by a cat will tell you ... as a rule cats ain't stupid. You don't adopt them, they decide whether or not they want to adopt you.
A lot of empties on that CSX train, I love to hear trains bang the Diamonds but that one didnt have very many loads. Havent heard a good Diamond crashing in awhile. Happy New Year JT. Cheers Rob
Up pop's another notification from my good friend JT....ye ha 💪🇺🇸. Really love how you explain different wee things it add's another great dimension to your video's. They really make my day.....
Thanks for these beautiful images filmed under the bridge and beautiful perspective of this train of containers. The short distance shot of the track and the height of cars with their containers reinforces feeling of speed!
Two toots on the horn -your well famous now Jawtooth ! That old/new bridge always looks superb -i say old /new because I think the steel beams are new but the trestles are original ? Got yourself a real good spot for watching trains go by -some smooth- some booking it !!! This new year is up and running at a great pace ! Keep em coming Jawtooth ! Regards
I have 2 souvenir railroad spikes .... one has a little train mounted on it the other one is gold and has the date of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad stamped in it ..... they were both gifts from my sister she and her husband were on vacation and passed by the point where the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad was completed ..... nice show ✌😎
My hometown of Kenton Ohio use to have 3 wooden bridges that went over one of the railroad lines. However, in the late 70s, early 80s, they stopped using that railroad line. Then in the late 80s, early 90s, they closed all three wooden bridges as the considered them to be unsafe and eventually tore them out. Filled it in with dirt and made it a part of the road. I wish I had a picture to show you.
Tracktex fabrics are used under the ballast to prevent mud from pumping back into the ballast. I believe the fabric you were talking about is engineered differently to pick up petroleum products. They do look very similar.
2.5 km of the stuff in each roll! I tried to see a date on the shipping label (to see how long they'd been waylaid by the side,) but a lot of ink had rubbed off.
Nice you got two toots and the bell as greetings from engine #4203. Nice setting - you said the old bridge is in Florence, OH. Great to have the never before seen bonus footage from Marion, OH.
They use that tracktex stuff where they park engines here in Marion. OH to keep mud from forming underneath the ballast. I've been in that tower when it was on the opposite side of the tracks in operation. There was a worker named Pete that would let me come up and check out the tower and pull some of the switches. I live on that side of town
The wood bridges look cool but I hate driving over them that one rail set that goes to the spur on the right of the second train looks like it takes a big dip. Loved the sound of the third train. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
This double diamond located in Marion, Oh is EXTREMELY loud! I live on that side of town and you can hear it all over the city especially on cold nights!
J.T. I love that bridge, had many of that type in the N.E I may just build one as close to the one in the video. Many people who video trains that do just, they don't look at the area surrounding which most times can more interesting. You always come up with interesting side stories. Stay warm my friend.
Hello from the UK. Interesting to see some UK products are being used in the USA. The Geofabrics are made in Leeds, Yorkshire (North of England). I live in a very different part of England, although for you Jaw Tooth, it would probably be only a typical drive to make a video.
Spike looks like it could have come from when that line was under Southern ownership. Looks like the clearance on the bridge is tight enough to take the rust off the top of those double stacks and Norfie on the the porch was a hoot,I am the night ,I am the the terror that stalks the darknessWHAT WAS THAT!!
Another great video jawtooth. The diamonds are awesome the sound they make . when i run my models they all sing a different tune just like the real ones. Its my music experience coming out
That Geo textile was probably used underneath that switch under the bridge to try to prevent mud pumping into the rock ballast , on the LIRR we used it for a time under road crossings also with mixed results
Jaw Tooth I been looking at your videos. The ones you said about shooting into the sun. You done a great job. Keep it up and keep bringing those Train films to use. Robert
That is an interesting bridge in Florence, Kentucky. I was wondering what the weight limit mihgt be on that bridge since it looks like it is rather old. I was thinking that there might be a weight restriction on tractors and semi-trailers but then I noticed a tractor and semi-trailer crossing the bridge. So that means that the bridge has no weight restrictions. The bridge appears to be in great shape. Thank you for documenting these trains. Obviously the CSX mixed freight in Marion, Ohio was captured in the warmer months of 2021 since you are not wearing a winter jacket and the trees have green leaes on them.
I would like to know more about the lines directions and history such as why single track there was the stack train going to pass the merchandise train etc.
Great good video, mr Jaw Tooth. That railroad diamond in Macron could be nice when two trains should be passing that platform where you stay. Have a good weekend, mr Jaw Tooth. Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands.
In central Florida they installed the same kind of double diamond, except the primary track was raised slightly to keep the wheels from being damaged on the primary track. Just a thought that might be helpful up around where you are. Distant Signal (RUclips) showed it.
Totally. It ain't natural, though, as every administration & Congress since the mid-90s has made a point of the economic value of exporting our manufacturing base. One of the leading economists who espoused that policy originally has publicly regretted it a year or 2 ago. Only took 30 years of watching our industrial resources get dessicated for the light to come on. Now our boom industry is: Amazon delivery services & Uber eats.
Yes, I was talking to him a couple weeks ago. I plan on going down there to visit him for a few days and film around Tampa and Lakeland. He lives near Dover which is near Plant City
80 cars 2 dpu and one engine so 83 total on that first train and 103 cars on that second train 2 dpu one engine so 106 in total a d he was bookin I noticed a few refrigerator contaners on there 70 care 1 dpu and 1 engine so 72 in total and what building were you standing in looked like a controle room. hope you have an amazing weekend jawtooth stay warm
Where is it that you are standing? It looks like an old railroad yard switch tower. I see the tracks laid out and what looks like Rheostats to manage the switches. That looks really cool.
It is an old railroad switch tower located in Marion, Oh at the Marion Union Station. It used to be located on the other side of the tracks but was moved when CSX decommissioned it and given to the Marion Union Station for their museum. You can actually go inside and see what it was like and how it was used. They give tours as well during the summer months
Another horn salute, very cool. It seems you have fans riding in cabs brother! 👍
I've never picked up a railroad spike in a tire but have picked up several hooks from cargo tiedown straps, instant flat and unrepairable tire.
Got some good horn salutes in this one. Thats a cool bridge, still got a lot of wood in it. Stay warm out there!
That bridge is very cool. I know of at least 2 mostly-timbered, "high arch" bridges nearby like that. They're a testimony to creosote!
Pretty sure that bridge has a restricted weight limit. I did see a semi cross it however.
@@davidmihevc3990 no doubt it has a limit! Unless it's a U.S. or major state route, it probably does.
Gotta love those old bridges!
JT, it's funny that an old bridge like that was actually high enough for the double stackers!! Cool place to train geek from!!
A COLD video of train action. Interesting spot in Marion. Love the cat and dog action. Stay warm out there. It was pretty cool you had the conductor give you a signal shoutout.
Thank you very much!
Shooting 'down' at the diamond while it was crossing - might be one of the best shots of most of these RR Videos - good catch.
Taken off the outside staircase for the tower which now sits next to the old Marion station. Have used that same vantage point myself.

That is 100% correct. It is a base barrier layer for ballast stone.

The 2nd train under the bridge was going much faster than the 1st. Hopefully a little time passed before the 2nd train arrived. Thanks JT!
UK product in the US, yeaaa! Only kidding, lol. Love those diamonds, but glad I don't live nearby. Another great edition, thanks JT.
Thanks Robert!
Great stuff. Cool spot with the cars zipping by overhead.
Always nice to get a toot from the engineers!
Thanks for watching!

Multiple locomotives coupled together at the front aren't DPUs. Distributed power has to be at more than one position in the train.
