I do have one question though. I need a similar idea. But in this case, I would have to add another principal for example. Or for my idea, let's say there's a CEO of 2 people, but 1 manager. So there should be 2 on top, then 1 box beneath, then 2 below that again. How could I achieve something like this?
thanks, i only watched the first 30seconds, but that's because you explained everything i needed to know so fast :) this will help me study for marketing class.

Organisation Charts in Word are surprising;y hard to do. Your tutorial was the first I found that showed me how to add boxes on the same level. But you did not explain it in enough and or close up to the text pane so I still cant do it!
suppose there are three stages of the school, (1) "principle" in first stage (2) "vice principle-corporate" & " vice princip.-Academic" in second stage, and "The students" in third stage. So, both vice principles should point the arrow (or line) to "the student" how can you do that ? I'm stuck in similar situation. One option I did to do the trick is to create two boxes and hide one behind the other one, but it's not the formal way of doing it, any other way to do it ?
+MrZedteam Yes! Step1: Select the Background shape "Square box / the Shadow" Step2: Right Click with your mouse Step3: From the Right Click menu, select the "Format Shape" option Step 4: for Fill (the paint bucket icon), select No Fill Step 5: for Line, Select No Line This should remove the 3D effect. Hope this helps. Please like and subscribe to my channel. Talk soon.
Good video! Could have been much shorter though, maybe 2 min. A lot of time was wasted entering more text than you needed. The tree could have been smaller and still demonstrated the principles.
+Cody O'Connell thanks for the comment. I did it this way as it is for beginners and I wanted to ensure that everyone will be able to do understand it and be able to do it. Glad it helped you anyway.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean. --Principle-- | |-----------------------------------|----------------------------| --Vice principle-corporate-- --Vice princip.-Academic-- | | | | --Corporate Students-- --Academic Students-- is this they layout you need?
Is there a way to insert a connecting line between boxes? I'm trying to create a hierarchy chart with two managers managing a team. When I create the chart with two managers one is automatically assumed to be an assistant or someone isolated. I want to connect the line from the 2nd manager to also be connected to the rest of the team. Thank you
+brocky You can do this manually. Step 1: Press the 'Enter' key after the first manager to add another box (you may have to press the backspace once to bring the new box on the same line as the Manager 1) Outcome: you will now see Manager 1 and Manager 2 on the same line (Please note that you will have to add the word Manager 2 yourself) however only Manager 2 will be linked to the boxes bellow "That is fine, this is what we need" Step 2: Go to 'Insert' menu and select the "Shapes" option, then select the "Line" option and draw a line between the Manager1 and the line below (the line below which is going across/the horizontal line ). Step 3: double click the line and customise it so it will be the same as the other lines. This is the only way to cheat and bypass your problem. Hope this instructions are helpful. I appreciate your response and answer, Webdesign. I've been doing that the past couple of weeks and I finally think I got the hang of it. It was tough trying to not have that gap from the line to the box or over shoot the line through the box. But I think I got it now. Your answer confirms what I've been doing. Thank you
Ah, thanks for method of copying and pasting fixed my issue. The function is extremely stupid because when I click on the top level and hit the plus sign, it adds a box in the wrong spot!
Step 1: Select the Hierarchy, Step 2: bottom right corner, make the container bigger by clicking and dragging. Step 3: select the rectangles individually and by clicking and dragging, you will make the lines longer. I hope this helps.
This will help me so much with my assignment.Easy to follow demonstration.Thank you so much web design.
