I really like your take on the symbolisym of the the word "faith" in Shiho's story. This may sound weird but I am pretty sure that if Shiho was a male character she would be less judged for her bluntness or not being emocionally open. She would probably be percieve in a similar way to Akito who is also extremely serious about music and an occasional jerk.
It shocks me that some people truly dont't get how much Shiho cares about leo/need. What you said is so true. When male characters are blunt It's seen as hot or something while people hate female characters with the same qualities.
