  • Disconnecting the coil shielding from the cable braid and running it as a separate wire back down to the detector, i have a suspicion that doing this reduces noise but you must also take off the ground point on the back mylar connection to the detector box, anyway it works and gives something else to play with in coil design, beware the shorted resistive faraday shielding on most coils.
    Voice is still on the mend, gone from Bobby Kennedy to Johnny Cash.

    the front end gain knob is so much easier in the field when the emi bounces around throughout the day and you need to quickly tweak it to suit the ground it should have been there from factory

      Technically you are correct, but not every detector user is that knowledgeable as to why to have these extra controls.

    Woody, If you then drained it too an earth stake, would it reduce noise?

      Doing that can even make things worse.
