I don't get why people complain about the legs/hips/crouch whatever, it's one of if not the best thing you can do for characters with baggy pants
It looks bad because the belt sticks out way farther than his abdomen, which just makes it look like a chunky diaper. It should be mostly flush.

Peoples main issue with the figure when it was first shown off was literally just regular base form Goku's hair but silver. Which was in line with Toriyama's original design for Ultra Instinct Goku, but inaccurate to both the anime and manga. In general, Toriyama's original design is not very well liked by the people.
He was originally skinny like God Goku in original concept aswell
@@kingdomcomesuperman3669 Both original designs by Toriyama for Ultra Instinct and Super Saiyan God Goku were exactly the same, down to the color of the gi and boots; only difference was the hair and eye color of course.

@@Wolffanghurricane Toei are actually behind the lazy designs. They told Toriyama to make new forms that were simple to animate. It's also a marketing ploy; they now got people buying the same Goku figure 9 times. Oh but this one has blue hair! And that one has red hair! Holy fuck is that SILVER hair!? I MUST BUY IT.
After you mentioned the face plates can be swapped around with other Goku figures, I hit the liked button. Thank you for confirming that. I already assumed it was possible but just needed confirmation. Of all the reviews I've watched this week, you're the only one who did that. Much appreciated. 👍
The deal-breaker for me ever since it was announced is the lack of shading on the skin tone. The Super Saiyan Awakening Warrior figure looks FANTASTIC because of the shading.
Seeing them directly compared here though it's nice to see that the trousers seem shaded unlike the older one.
If I see it cheap enough I'll probably get it and see how some simple custom shading looks on the skin tone
HUGELY disappointing to me though that they didn't shade it. Even if not unexpected

I've seen other reviews on my recommended a few days ago and i thought, "i can't wait to see what AnthonyCustoms has to say"
I believe the problem people had with the prototype was that the hair was just base-Goku hair but painted silver. Which would look wrong because Ultra Instinct hair is supposed to have some of the hair spikes curved up. However, I don’t think Bandai was ever planning on leaving it that way. I can’t imagine Bandai would do something so lazy with a figure they knew would be one of their most popular releases... they just wanted to show that they were working on a figure and that’s all they had to show at the time. The backlash was kinda crazy imo... but I could be wrong! Anyway nice review! I just got this yesterday and I’m super pleased with it!!
The reason people complained when he was revealed was because he just straight up had the black base form hair in silver rather than the slightly different upswept look that it's supposed to have.
Thankfully they changed it which people should have expected.
At least that's the complaints that *I* saw, might have been totally different stuff that you heard :)

I think the issue with the hair initially was the reveal prototype and first con floor showing of it, it was as if they reused the Saiyan Raised on Earth base form hair and painted it silver. They since changed that.
I think the Tien comparison was for the customizers, cuz I know alota them use the Tien body for a lot of customs
Weird question maybe for its for the sake of screen accuracy: When popping the waist, is the belt swappable with the "knot like" one other Goku's have?
The ripped shirt and belt pieces are separate, so you could theoretically swap the sash belt for a knot belt if you wanted to. If you wanted to go that route you could just use the Awakening Goku belt though.
Nothing better to go to sleep than a great review and a equally great figure.
For those of you who swap heads, which Goku figure would you potentially put the UI head on, and which head would you put on the UI body? I ask because I’m not sure what all bodies you can swap this figures head with. Ultimately, I’d like to do another SSJ head on this one, as to look like Goku at the end of the Frieza fight.

It is funny. I have almost completely different opinions on figures than you. Heck I love the Mattel and Mcfarlane series. But still you are one of my top 3 favorite reviews. I like seeing the other side of the coin and being proven wrong. Even tho.. I still don’t change my opinion. All in all.. GREAT VIDEO FOR YEARS STRAIGHT! AMAZING JOB DUDE! Keep up the great content!
I think the reason the skin tone is different is because in the show it seems to be just straight up different. Could be because of the "aura" the pants are obviously a lighter shade, so I think that's what they were going for?

Only improvement I really wished they did was I hoped they'd use the translucent hair similar to what they did to the Goku Rose SDCC exclusive. It would have been very appropriate for this figure.

I love this figure it’s awesome sure, my only problem is the metallic hair I don’t really like how it looks but I’ll probably add this to my collection!

Maaaan I remember that initial teaser pic. They just repainted SROE’s hair.
Maybe I'm just picky but I still don't really like it. He looks a bit chunky in his abdomen, almost no shading in his upper body, and the hair just reeks of laziness. Doesn't look flowy. I think why I am so dissappointed is because this part of the show is when the animation (mostly just Goku) kicked up a whole lot. So when I see a figure for it, my expectations are high. I won't pay anything over $50 for it personally.
Anthony- just came across your account as I started a DBZ SH figuarts collection with the saiyan raised on earth goku last year. I have since started to expand thanks to your awesome and helpful channel.
I’m curious as to your take on when a figure gets “too pricey” to be worth it? I have come to find that the newer figures settle in around 60-80 bucks if you didn’t preorder it, but characters like yamcha are easily $150+. As a newer collector, I’m curious as to how you go about “responsibly” expanding your collection
I buy them when they're new. Virtually none of them lose value so you're better off having it and deciding you don't want it than wanting it later and having to pay extra. Also, I am buying the complete collection so it isn't really an issue for me.
AnthonysCustoms I appreciate the feedback! In hindsight you’re right; the release date almost directly correlates with the price. Guess I’ll prioritize the preorders and work backwards for the core characters.
When I hear you mention things like “piccolo 2.0” it makes me wonder which figures may come around again or which ones are gone forever; but that’s part of the fun in this hobby. I’ve added Frieza, SS Vegeta, SS Gotenks, Super Broly, & SSGSS Gogeta to the shelf, with some preorders too.
Out of curiosity will you be getting the great ape vegeta?

can the hand peg break from switching the hands? on mine when i switched out the hands i noticed it got white like when its gonna break so ive left it with only the fisted hands

I was loving the figure until you brought the Namek saga Goku, that guy is so amazing that makes new realeses look worse. I'm still loving this ultra instinct but man, they nailed It with Namek Super Saiyan Goku. And for a long time he was one of the cheapests in multiple websites.

My only problem with the figure owning it myself is that the leg joints are very tight

Hi person seeing my at the first comment after scing all the way down to remember that they changed where the comment section was
When the figure was first revealed the hair was just a repaint of the regular goku hair, which is why people were upset.
I'm talking about the final release.
@@AnthonysCustoms at the start of the video you were talking about how people were upset about the hair for not being accurate. That was because it wasn't accurate (repaint of regular hair without any of the flowing) when it was first revealed. The final release of course fixed this aspect. That's all I was pointing out.
