I'm glad to see you loved the song. This sad fact will make you appreciate the boys more, but did you know the guy who sang the father/papa part? He never met his father all his life and the guy with solo deep voice is mourning during their recording of this song for the death of his grandmother who stood as his parents since he was a kid.

This boy band is Filipino. Honor & respect for parents and taking care of them when they get old is deeply rooted in the hearts of Filipinos and is part of the culture of most Asians, if not all, since time is changing. I'm not sure where you're from Zach but I hope this song touched your heart just like so many people all over the world. It is a tribute, paying homage to our parents. When you heard the lyrics, did you reflect on yourself or did you feel like you wanna call your parents or something similar? I did.😊
I just realized that MAPA has three different meanings: MAPA = "Map" = MA (Mother) + PA (Father) = MATA (Eye) + PAA (Foot) We can sum it up as this: Mother (Ma) gives us vision (Mata) in life, and Father (Pa) teaches us to stand our ground (Paa). The map (Mapa) tells us where we came from and where we should go, that both the origin and the destination are equally important in our journey. We can also apply this to a common yet significant quote from a Filipino hero: "Ang hindi marunong luminong sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makararating sa paroroonan" ("Those who forget their origin will never reach their destination"). It just goes to show that family, especially the one you grew up in, is one of the integral parts of the Filipino culture. :D
MAPA is indeed a love letter to parents despite there's not a single ' I love you' in the lyrics. The entire song speaks of the context without actually spelling it out.

It's promise to their parents that they will take care of everything . Ken, whose both parents work abroad are back in the country for good. Pablo's dad who also works abroad is also here managing the family business that for sure Pablo put up for them . These boys' sacrifices bear fruits that made their families lives comfortable and happy.

Believe me I played this song for dad's first heavenly birthday with my mom my brother and my sister while we visited his grave and we all knew how much we missed him and showing love for our mom at the same time 4:03
When you get old (parents) i would not send you to a nursing home because when i open my eyes to see the world you were there for me, as i get started to walked you guided me until i get up and finally walked in my own way now i realized how hard it is, i love you is not enough but the action you thought us is the most thing that i value i love you mom and dad.
