Can't you just remove the black trim piece on the arm rest that the switch assembly is attached to? I know on most other Mazda's of the same vintage it is not necessary to remove the door panel to swap out the switch assembly.

Hey Paul, nope, not on this one...this is a door panel removal everytime. It sucks, because it looks like you should be able to just detach it but hey, at least it's not a terrible panel to pull.

People please 🙏, roll up the windows all the way. Before detailing, vacuum the door panels and switch areas and then, if needed, clean the arm rest/switch area with a LIGHTLY damp cloth. 😅
