    Bill you have a lot of perseverance. You don't give up easily on a job I am really impressed. My dad was like that. The only thing I did to help was to bring his tools because of his back injury. I learned that a back injury does not go away.. on some days he could fix anything and there could be a whole week or two when he had to stay in bed. Please don't overdo it Bill.

      Bill so did my dad. He never looked sick, he always looked strong like you. He never complained like you. People that's relatives and friends always told me that he had fooled Workmen's Compensation and the doctor's.. I read his medical reports and he told me they were all correct. I asked him why he wasn't in a wheelchair and he told me that's what all his doctors were wondering. So Bill it was a miracle from God , but you probably go through a lot of pain but you still fight it just like my dad had. Hope and pray for you Bill

      @@LiveSimpleLiveFree it never completely goes but depending on type like twisting it, i found that by simmering pork neck bones in tomato sauce in a crock pot helps to rebuild and soorh some of the damsge. The calcium spur touching my spinal cord was a different matter and they had to go in and use a mini roto rooter like tool. If not for that id be paralyzed eventually.. suffered shooting pains for over a year.. it was a blessing the doctor i did find.

    Looks lovely Bill! Doesn't it feel good 2 B 'BACK' finishing the shed? What we used to take for granted in simple tasks/projects is no longer simple. You had a back injury, wasp interference, rain, a miscalculation, shortage of materials and YET...you came out GRATEFUL, HAPPY, PATIENT = You WON! All we have to do is keep 'focused' on the 'sufferings of many' to put our little frustrations into perspective. Cute to see 'Pops' put in an appearance. I'll just bet that sweet Elizabeth had a lovely meal for you after all you accomplished. I almost missed this vid, as it did NOT show up on my list = strange! Hope the back feels and mends well. Health and God's continued abundant blessings upon you n' yours! Maybe give Barry a call...he's bin havin' a few accidents while putting in the air conditioning. (LOL)

  • @Camperhollow
    @Camperhollow 4 года назад +1

    I did siding for quite a few years before I went into drywall work. What you are calling F-strip is actually F channel. We never put channel under the fascia board, the soffit slid into the channel on the wall and was nailed to the bottom of the fascia board so it has a cleaner look. Your system is bulky. Then the aluminum covered the fascia with a one inch bend that went over the outside end of the soffit. We also put wood above the soffit at the wall so we had something to nail into there to prevent the soffit from moving out of place. It's good to see you got your shed sided in any event.

    • @LiveSimpleLiveFree
      @LiveSimpleLiveFree  4 года назад +1

      Yes, that's the way I do it too when I use aluminum facia, but it's a little different with vinyl facia because the bottom of the vinyl facia must lock into the F strip. That's what holds the bottom of the vinyl facia in place, with no surface nails. I prefer aluminum facia, but I couldn't find any!

    • @Camperhollow
      @Camperhollow 3 года назад

      @@LiveSimpleLiveFree that I understand. I didn't realize you were not using all over the fascia. It is good to see the progress you are making there.

    Bill, I use to have a huge yellowjacket problem until I found out how to repel wasp, bees and yellowjackets. Take a brown paper grocery bag and stuff it with bubble wrap and tie the opening shut. Hang it up by a string or wire where the stinging critters are buzzing around. This will look like a hornet's nest to the other stingy things and they will see it and go "That's a NOPE". When I put one up on my back patio I had just gotten down off the ladder when a wasp made a buzz through and right back out. It didn't even stop to inspect the area. I use to have to remove/spray 3-4 nest a year. In the 3 years I've had my fake hornet's nest out I have not had one single yellowjacket nest. A friend that lives in MI has a lake house and fought them daily. After he put up just one nest he's not had a single nest built.

    Ruth here, when my sciatic nerve acts up, l have discovered that putting ice on back 24/7 really helps me. I made a belt out of 100% cotton, l made it wide enough, l fold it in half so it becomes a pocket, to put the icing (which is in a plastic bag) or a small refreezeable ice thing. Then l made the, l call belt long enough so l can tie it in front, I sleep sitting in a chair placing a pillow just above the ice pack, for me, l position the ice pack at waist level, 2 days or so my back starts feeling a lot better, so far this has worked for me and l hope it will keep working cause it hurts so bad
    I am not saying it will work for you but suppose it would help,
    Hope your back never acts up again

    Looking good!! Just wondering, tho, why you didn't continue the tyvec up to the roof. Is it because 1) it's not necessary, even tho it wouldn't hurt anything if you did; 2) you don't want it there as it would cause a problem (moisture?); or 3) the real reason, whatever it is? Your hard- earned tips are very much appreciated, as well. Thanks for sharing this project. So glad you're back to normal.

      Tyvek is not even necessary on a shed, only on heated living spaces. The only reason I used any at all is because I knew it would stand for months without siding, and I wanted to give it some weather protection before I got the siding on. If I had been able to do the siding right away I wouldn’t even have used any Tyvek.
