This was filmed in Budapest. HYBE put out a statement that this is a subtle tribute to MJ.

JK is the new King of Pop 💜
Welcome to BTS. Jungkook (or JK) is a member of that KPop hiphop group. But the sound & music in this video is pretty much JK's alone, as this is part of his solo project, so it's not quite KPop & actually more of US Pop, although technically KPop does come from US Pop. This song has the vibe of the funk-soul days of the 1970's disco era. Hopefully you can react to other songs from BTS & their solo stuff. This song is from JK's new album "Golden", which just dropped today.

If you are getting The Weekend vibes, Cirkut produced this song - he also produced Starboy for The Weekend. I think in this case its more of a 1970's/80s Quincy Jones sound (of course Quincy produced Off the Wall (which this song reminds me a little of), Bad and Thriller for MJ.). Btw, the fight scene at the end is a callback to MJ's You Rock My World MV, where he and his dancers dance while everyone else is fighting.

I agree with you about the Weekend and JK having a similar quality to their voices. I've been saying for 2 yrs that I would like BTS or some member to do a collab with the Weekend.
thanks for the reaction.. definitely he wrote his song in his own time. He mentioned in one of his latest interviews that when he is writing he always comes up with writing the song for ARMY.. U can see in all his writing it is all about ARMY and that is truly appreciated.
He may have had Ideas and Suggestions, but Jungkook didn't write any of the tracks for Golden. He said that Watts and Crikut had this in their pocket when he came to record Seven. I think those guys did a TON of Research on ARMY+BTS to seed all those references.

Folks have caught "Regulate" by Warren G (as featured on an American Hustle Life Challenge), which samples "I Keep Forgettin", by Michael McDonald featuring the Bass Player who featured on "Thriller" Louis Johnson. This def has AM Radio, Straight Quincy Jones Production Homages. The Performance Videos end with Keone Madrid's Choreography putting the Dancers in MJ Silhouettes. Additionally, all his Dancers are World-Class Performers and Choreographers, many from "Seven".

From his early interviews, before he introduced Golden. He said he was scouting for songs. So I don't think he wrote any on this album.. I need to check the credits.......😁
So the director Tanu Muino said this is an homage to Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet. In that movie Juliet is wearing wings. (It does fit the BTS narrative as well) So JK is Romeo 💜
The behind the scenes came out and they are real sets, but built the stage inside.
This song really reminds me of Heartbreak Hotel by the Jackson 5.
