    Welcome back to another sculpting tutorial! This week I'm doing something COMPLETELY different and I'm literally sculpting a cheeseburger. Yes, a cheeseburger-complete with lettuce, onion, pickles, ketchup and mustard. This was such a fun project and I loved the challenge of making everything look as realistic as possible. Everything is hand sculpted from polymer clay and painted with my airbrush and traditional acrylics. The only thing that isn't clay is the sesame seeds lol.

      Ngl, I was delighted by the utter randomness of this weeks' sculpt! It was fascinating to watch the process and see each component come to life. The finished sculpt is SUPER realistic! Just need a cotton ball nearby anointed with a couple drops of Liquid Smoke to provide some scent. Awesome sculpt, please consider doing more random selections!

    This is a fantastic idea. I think you could and should do a whole fast food series of photo realistic foods. It looks great! I have a couple of ideas that could be helpful in making it slightly more realistic. On the pickles, I would put a small amount of a wash in a little darker green allowing it to slightly pool and settle in the valleys of the pickles. IMHO the pickles and tomatoes need something little bit more like the wash on the pickles. You could do a wash on the tomatoes as well and allow a darker red to settle in the valleys. Both of those pieces just need a bit more color variation. And lastly, I would have put a satin top coat on the bun. Buns especially when warmed by meat are not matte to me, the bun is just slightly wet looking. Or maybe you could have put triple thick on the seeds to make a bigger contrast? I tell you what...those seeds were excellent and placed imperfectly perfect. Before I watched you actually shape the clay and I saw the thumbnail and the actual piece at the beginning of the video, I thought it was completely realistic. It wasn't until I watched the process that I noticed those couple of things. Just my thoughts...no shade meant. I truly am just blown away your skills. I started sculpting after watching hours of your content. The very first thing I sculpted was an owl that I gave my sister for Christmas. It wasn't near as good as yours but my sister loved and that was all that mattered. Thanks for an awesome channel and content!!

  • @XanBos
    @XanBos 5 месяцев назад

    I think when you go to this length of sculpting realistically, that you challenge yourself on a level that rarely anyone else does. This burger could be used in a tv commercial, and quite frankly fool the viewers into thinking it is the best cooked burger ever! You paid attention to details. You also made sure the colors were not flat.
    As much as your character sculpting is unique to you, I think doing random items apart from your characters is a nice break. It shows off your skill level. So yeah, toss the random sculpting in there once in a while!

  • @Zeldur
    @Zeldur 5 месяцев назад

    It does look extremely convincing. The only thing I would change is try to find a way to add translucency to the lettuce, but I know translucent clay runs very yellow. Would be funny to see someone's reaction if you had that on a plate in the kitchen

    Now I want a nice charbroiled burger! It looks so real! What are your preferred paints for the airbrush? I belong to a couple of FB groups for making miniature food. One technique I’ve seen for making lettuce is to add some random stripes of translucent (not mixed into the green) with some slightly darker stripes of green, and the edges of the leaves are torn off. It’s a very effective technique. This was super cool! ❤
