  • Bryan Hayes joins SC with Jay Onrait for another edition of Harvey's Hot Takes, where he shares his opinion on Sidney Crosby reportedly nearing an extension with the Penguins, when Oilers fans should be nervous about Leon Draisaitl's future in Edmonton, and if Canada can be considered a soccer nation after their recent success at Copa America.

Better question is, why should Oilers fans worry about Draisaitl's future in Edmonton? It's out of their hands. Worry about what you control, not what you can't. You're merely a spectator, and all the worry in the world, isn't going to make a different in what happens to your favourite recreational franchise. 🤷‍♂

  • @TH-tl6sy

Not worried. The media needs something to talk about.
Oilers will find a way to make both contracts work, or Draisaitl will be traded for a boat load of depth and assets.
Would love to see Leo stay, but he has to do what's best for him and the team has to do what's best for them. And frankly for all the talk I think the ball is in McDavids court. He's made $110mil USD just ij salary not counting endorsements and sponsorship. If He wants to chase $15 mil this time for 8 years it will hurt the team and signing Draisaitl. I say offer them both $12.5x8 and if it's ago great. It's still $100 usd each. They'll both leave hockey with generational wealth. Leo with $171.5 mil and McDavid with $210 mil.
Think for that kind of money they owe the team a cup.

Is TSN a serious outlet anymore because how can they even put out a scenario where the Oilers re-sign Draisaitl for 1 year? Does that make any sense for anyone?
The Oilers franchise is not the Leafs franchise and just because the Leafs have mercenaries as their core who seem only interested in maximizing their earnings doesn’t mean the superstars in other markets do. Draisaitl either re-signs at a long term ticket being well compensated or he leaves at the end of the year as a free agent, that’s it. Jeff Jackson isn’t going to erase the knowledge he has as an agent in negotiating and doing right to his client (organization) to start doing idiotic things that turn over all leverage to the player. The circus stops this summer as a decision will be made one way or the other, sorry TMZ…TSN

Look at how Hyman transformed playing with Mcdavid. Hyman went from a 20 goal scorer on the Leafs to a 54 goal scorer plus 16 more goals in the playoffs. Plus Hyman is much more of a responsible player. You could find another cheaper 20 or 30 goal left handed shot with a good 2 way game and put him with McDavid and get the McDavid effect. I’m seriously getting so tired of lazy click bait journalism. How about you just refer to the comments Leon Draisaitl‘s agent made about being confident that a contract will be signed in Edmonton or Leon’s own comments that he doesn’t want to play anywhere else. Stop being lazy and trying to stir the pot. You want to know a great story. How the executive vice president of the NHL’s son is the executive vice president of the Florida Panthers, kind of explains why the chokehold went on penalized and undisciplined by the NHL along with Sam Bennett’s interesting way of accidentally checking with the butt end of stick out.
