Returning to the eddsworld fandom after 3 years was not on my 2024 card. The eddsworld fandom took OVER my childhood, I watched EVERYTHING go down in real time LMAO 😭😭
Tom and Tord go to school? Tom lives with his dad? Are these versions of these characters meant to be young adults?
Yeah there was too much plot holes to cover-
The way the story ended with tord unalive at the end of the story. Yes they HAVE to be in school otherwise I can't excuse their immature actions. It's more dramatic than twilight over essentially nothing💀🤚
I remember reading Dear Fuckboi before Dear Starboy and they were both insane rides for younger me especially as someone who was still relatively new to fandom culture (also love all the jrwi art!! your style enraptures the characters really well)

Eddsworld was also the fandom where I found about fanfic for the first time. But unlike most people I didn’t read the character x character stuff, I would read character x reader. I actually revisit a few, some still hold up with my now higher standard. But there was one that was different. It was good written but it had lemon and 12 year old me didn’t know what it was so ignored the warning and read it. If anyone is familiar it name is/was Love triangle [Tord x reader x Tom]. The scene was Tord 🍇 (Y/n) after she tried escaping (Long story short, he had kidnapped her because he was in love with her). The “trauma” took a bit to set in, it was an expirience.
ah yes the memories of the 2018 era of eddsworld,,,I empathize with younger me crying at the letter segment thinking it was peak lmao. Will definitely try to re-read it again with my friend (who I read the story before too)

i actually discovered eddsworld through tomtord, so i was giddy when i read a fic about my obsession character (tord) being twinked up and ready to party, only to fucking end it💀 (i was a kid who seeked out the most triggering funniest about tord cutting, starving, etc, but i also liked the idea of him being a twinkified bottom. extra points if the fic made tord a mix of both.)
i genuinely feel that, as shitty as this fic is, it made me the person i am today (as sad as that is). i still get whiplash seeing dear starboy in 2024
I read this fic while it was still up on the OG account like a super long time ago. I remember separately they had posted an alternate ending where Tom and Tord got to live happily together and ran away. I think they also wrote a klance fic

I was an avid amino user at like 10 and somehow avoided getting into eddsworld because I couldn't figure out the order of the episodes lol :-P I had a flashback recently of an older friend at a theater camp recommending me the fic-- so I set out to live read it with my friends while I knew the ending and they didn't. Probably top ten experiences I've ever had. Me and my boy bestie have matching "Starboy" and "kitty boy" bracelets that we are too ashamed to wear. Greatest fanfic of all time but not for being actually good.
Oh my god I completely forgot about amino! I remember in like 2016-2018 I would see RUclipsrs do sponsored stuff for it and little kid me thought it was the coolest thing. Looking back I’m so happy that I was too lazy to make an account because in retrospect it was like the worst aspect of any fandom in one app

I was around the fandom in 2016 and let me tell you it was a literal war crime not to ship this, I was even kicked out of an eddsworld google plus group because I was “homophobic” for not shipping tomtord (I’m gay myself)
Buuuut I did run a somewhat popular eddsworld roleplay account on instagram (I was Matt) and it was a wild ride, if anyone wants stories about that I’m happy to share.💀

@@vaniiarojas4812 I’ve been in this fandom since I was in like second grade (2010ish) so I’ve indeed seen some shit in this fandom 😭
As for the role play stories from what I remember ALOT and I mean ALOT of Edd/tord accounts would message me with no Hi or even hello and they’d just be the most basic ass roleplay response and I remember at one point I had around like 40+ roleplays going on all at one time.
as for what they were about a shocking amount of them would try to turn the roleplays towards an unsafe for work area, which would cause me to run away from the roleplay and others were like, fruit au’s, neko au’s, Opposite Day au’s, anything cringy you can think of I probably roleplayed it back in the day. I distinctly remember doing a dear star boy drawing but I put Matt in it instead of tord which angered ALOT of tomtord shippers, it even resulted in a harassment campaign towards me because I was supposedly being discriminatory again tomtord shippers lmao 💀
I also remember roleplay though like instagram posts, like I’d post some screenshot from the show and add some caption while tagging other roleplay accounts so they’d respond, I would also roleplay on websites such as pony town and IMDV with an old friend group, It was truly a time, I believe at my peak my old eddsworld roleplay account had about 10k followers on instagram.
So there’s that lmao.
My introverted ass could not handle those kinda stuff so you have my respect. 🫡
I remember that when I heard from Amino my younger self wanted to try it but was too lazy to install that app, not to mention that I needed permission from my parents to have it so to be fair, I'm grateful I didn't get through that kind of experience.

Im an introvert as well and the only reason I was able to do all of that was because I justified it to myself that it was online so no one can see me 🫠🫥
oh amino was even WORSE then instagram, toxic shipping wars, gacha kids making the most foul roleplay stories you can think of, Mary sue ocs, those weirdly toxic roleplay groups of the main four that would silently look down on other people for no reason whatsoever, people forming harassment champions against Tomska and Matt (no I didn’t join in on any of those, thankfully I was smarter then that lmao)
but yes it’s safe to say it wasn’t pretty, some may call it traumatizing, some may call it a time they’d rather forget but I call it ✨CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT✨
But yes you were spared a whole mountain of insanity by not downloading amino, I don’t think I was ever groomed at least not that I remember, but amino had its goods and its bars back in the day and for my amino I just posted art and had around maybe 5k back in the day
but i purposefully lost my login to that instagram so i wouldn’t have to look at it anymore 😭

-Shipping wars that lasted for weeks on end
-Toxic people making harassment champions against the real life creators of eddsworld
-some guy who was an open necrophilic and said he wanted to uh… do stuff to the REAL Edd Goulds body that’s very traumatic! (The guy only backed off once he heard the legend himself was cremated)
-✨racial discrimination✨
-those eddsworld groups of the four main boys that would weirdly look down on people for no reason what so ever!
-weird ass shippers of all category’s!
And so much more. 💀

This video just brings back memories of my own Eddsworld AU. (My AU was entirely based on the Owl City song, Fireflies, for some reason.)
lol what was it about? my eddsworld au was based on a cavetown song and it was so edgy
@@heyheyhii it was mainly a slice of life type of AU. The boys would go on random adventures and there was no real overarching storyline. In this AU, Tom is a popular musician and he created the song, Firefiles (he’s sort of a replacement for Owl City as the person who made and sang the songs). Firefiles in general are used as like a theming element as well. Each of the main guys have a firefly accessory that they wear: Tom has a firefly necklace and little firefly like dots on his hoodie, Edd has a firefly hairclip, Matt has a firefly earring, and Tord has a firefly patch sown on a jacket he wears. They all had these firefly things before they even met each other so, I guess it represents their fated encounter. Also another thing in this AU, Edd’s family adopted Tom (he was an orphan), and Matt’s family adopted Tord (he lived in a bad household so that’s why they adopted him.)
I remember I did like the clarity MV, and I thought 'wow this is so cool and the fic is really popular, the story must be GREAT'
That day I learned a fanfic being popular doesn't mean it's gonna be good, and most of the time if it's an AU it's probably not gonna feel very in character and move like OCs with canon characters names(saying that bc it has happened with other popular fics as well)

Personally, I love Dear Starboy, but I respect if you don’t. I understand that it was way too fast paced and very unrealistic (especially to Eddsworld). - I also just like anything TordTom/TomTord, whether it is them as enemies or lovers, I’m here for it!

When I first discovered dear starboy, it was back when i first joined the fandom which was when i was in middle school (I just graduated high school recently) and dear GOD, I HATED THIS FANFIC SO MUCH- I was a hardcore TomTord shipper but I could not stand the twinkification of Tord (Still can't, esp since I headcanon Tord as afab- I'M PROJECTING)
