That's a good idea. I keep trying alternatives to Apple's Mail and they have great features, but they're somehow never as solidly reliable as Mail and I soon find myself wandering back to it. Apple's Mail is fine, but an alternative that integrated into my other apps better would be tremendous.
@@WilliamGallagher Yes we’re all like email nomads in search of the right tool. I use Airmail but find that despite it’s integration with many apps and services it’s buggy. Mail is stable but doesn’t integrate well. Spark is solid but never lived up to the vision of its creators. Flexibits has the opportunity to grab market share with a well integrated product. What’s interesting is that the company now has roughly 10 employees so their headcount suggests the development of new products beyond Fantastical and Cardhop.
I didn't know that about the staffing, that's great that they can support them in these tough times for all developers. Have you contacted them asking about an email app? Might talk them into it.
Fantasical has long had a great reputation. I haven't personally used it, but maybe I'm missing out. Beware profound metaphysics, by the way. And beware stobor, too, if you remember Heinlein's Tunnel in the Sky. I almost bought Hook yesterday. I wanted Flying Logic (long story, yes, it's rather expensive) to open x-devonthink hyperlinks, which Flying Logic doesn't natively recognize. Either Hook (I think) or Popclip can do that. I already had Keyboard Maestro, though. A three step macro did the trick. Something more purpose-built might be a better thing. Must learn exactly what Hook does. Fun fact - "stobor" is robots spelled backward. Coincidence? Maybe. Or, perhaps, the result of retrograde cause-and-effect while typing during a temporal anomaly. Could be something as simple as taht. Sorry, "that." There's some kind of weird storm rolling through. Makes it hard to epyt.
💌 Thank you #WilliamGallagher for this helpful video. I've been ATTEMPTING to use both Fantastical and Cardhop for years. Your vid inspired me to give them a go again. ... I hope it all flows. 🙏 Do you have any time tracking or time billing integrations for Fantastical (paid version) that you use or like❓ 🙏, CC♡
Thanks, that’s very good of you to say. No, I don’t have recommendations for time tracking: I keep trying different ones that are all excellent, I’m sure, but I forget to use them. I am hoping that when Shortcuts comes to the Mac later this year, it will help: I already have iPhone Shortcuts that start when I open particular apps. I think that’ll help me.
I tried Fantastical but was immediately put off it by the fact that their day, week and month views (which are core calendar app functions) are behind their paywall. Not having those views made the app unusable for me!
They're all behind the paywall? That's exasperating: I tell you, I'm half glad I bought before subscription and have all of these things, but it's so hard unpicking what I've got grandfathered in and what's free for all. Thanks: I'll ask them about this.
The only thing they need to do now, to make that premium subscription work it’s a develop their own email client that will bring everything together

Dang, forgot my manners - great video, with a nice one-out-of-88 in your opening key sequence. :-)
Thanks. I can help you with Hook, I've a video on it coming up... but it might not be for a few weeks. I'll see if I can tug it forward.

@@WilliamGallagher ta very much for that, as this the main thing that's stopping me from actually giving the app a good try.
