Had the same issue. Tried wipers from Bosch, Valeo, SWF and some others in all the years. But finally your idea of swapping them fixed it. Thank you man

Thanks, I had the issue, checked my car (UK) and the longer blade was on the drivers side, I've now swapped it over to the passenger side

I have had noisy wipers on my 59 plate grand scenic for over 2 years. I tried this method but it didn’t work, tried replacing with new Bosch ones, still no joy. However today I went to Halfords and they fitted Halford Core flat wipers. Problem solved! Super silent and only cost £26. Give it a try, you won’t regret it.

Had the same issue, found out the wiper arms had been fitted wrong after a cambelt change, sorted that out, still had same issue, tried different blades, ended up with Heyner German Hybrid Windscreen Wiper Blades Front 28"26" HH2826BL, stopped the thumping completely

The problem lies in the wiper control module, and can be solved with an software update. I use to have the same issue, and there is an new software that has fixed the bug.
