    Been informed that underwater drifting seemingly *does not* work like inward drifting - Eldog [who informed me] describes it like this:
    *Underwater physics act as if your kart has infinite traction- normally, you slide in the direction of your momentum when you start drifting, which is why the common advice in this game and kart is to start drifting very early compared to mario kart. Underwater, this does not happen, you immediately start drifting in a fixed turning circle upon drifting without momentum being taken into account, or at least being taken into account very little.*

      It's not exactly the same, but it's the quickest way to explain how it works for the most part in the fewest amount of words, for anyone that's played Mario Kart Wii before.

      That explains why I can take any corner while underwater. It just turns with no warning.

      I just imagine underwater driving as using an inside drifting bike in mario kart and it's worked for me so far

    I love how you subtly made Sonic the punching bag for these examples lol

    As of watching this video, I have only played the tutorial and first grand prix, and it was very frustrating tbh. I was saying things like "why am I getting knocked around just by bumping into someone" and "why does fast falling make me go so slow afterwards?" For as long as the official tutorial is, there is a LOT it does not explain, so this is a massive blessing and I'll be sure to rewatch it to learn the game as I keep playing.

    Worth noting that the default control display popup in the HUD shows up as a 3D Saturn controller if your controller has an analog stick, I'm liking this vid so far all the same

    this 14 minute youtube video is somehow a better tutorial for ring racers than its actual 30 minute long tutorial

    I like the Ring Racers tutorial and think it does its job perfectly fine but this video is WAY better.

    5:29 Kinda strange that sonic doesn't even have hurt sprites unlike in the original SRB2Kart...
    Anyways, Awesome tutorial!

    A small correction on item roulette speed, the speed of the item roulette is based only on how many item boxes you have already picked up during a race.
    So even if you're in lap 3 in first place, if its your first item that race, the item roulette will be slow.

    Hold up, is there a reason to just accept excess rings, for instance from a jackpot, instead of just immediately consuming them?

    • @ArcadeStriker
      @ArcadeStriker  2 дня назад

      @@sqwid12 As far as I know, excess rings from jackpots boost the same whether you're spending them or just letting them appear on their own.
      Can still be useful to hold down the ring/item button in the case you run into an item box and want to keep spending the remaining rings after it runs out though, or when you know that the jackpot is about to run out but are approaching a batch of rings.

    Honestly wished the 30/60min tutorial couldve taught this kinda stuff, yeah stuff like rings and and tricking is cool but it would have been a little bit convenient if they taught things like sliptiding (and wavedashing) and using rings to keep momentum while drifting. Great videos regardless!

    A shame that not even a really good tutorial like this would be able to save such a garbage game. I wish the community wasn't disgustingly elitist.

    • @bloomallcaps
      @bloomallcaps 4 месяца назад +4

      You don't know what a GARBAGE game is if you think RR is one lol if anything it asks more of the player than a regular kart game (which tends to be close to nothing)

    • @garulouie
      @garulouie 4 месяца назад

      @@bloomallcaps Most of my frustration is how the difficulty is high in not a challenging yet rewarding way, but rather a bullshit way that costs you the race if you're even slightly unlucky. I personally love the manual item roulette and ring jackpot mechanic but none of it matters if I'm sent all the way to last place if i'm hit by a single item.

    • @Pyrodiac
      @Pyrodiac 4 месяца назад +4

      @@garulouie I never understand when people say this, even in Vicious mode I can get hit by a couple of items and even if I get sent back a few places, I can still recover, at least in singleplayer, and even when I do struggle it never feels like it ISN'T my fault. Maybe consider playing on Relaxed mode if you haven't already?

    • @garulouie
      @garulouie 4 месяца назад

      @@Pyrodiac Recovering feels like a chore in this game. Even when I burn through rings it's way too difficult to catch back up.
