    *EXTRA INFO:*
    - The First Blood boost you get if you cross the starting line first in a race with other players will also grant you access to sliptiding.
    - Sliptide can only be performed while in a boost state, and Wavedash only while Sliptiding. If your boost is about to end, you may not be able to build up enough Wavedash to gain the secondary bonus. (Special thanks for *Lt. Luc* for wording this here better than I could)
    - This is something I cut out from the video as I wasn't sure if it would overcomplicate this, but you can *increase* the wavedash vortex with another sharp sliptide while already having a wavedash. It is easy to notice when you do this since the wavedash will grow even larger than before.

    I really, really, REALLY wish that Sliptiding and Wavedashing was taught properly in the game's tutorial. Imo it's basically essential on some tracks with some characters, and if mastered, you can really excel and do crazy stuff with it.

      It does feel like something that could have been great to learn from in-game, but it has been stated many times before that it was indeed planned- just not finished in time like a few other things. About whether it will get eventually added or not [and when], I don't know, but aside from toying with the idea of making a custom sliptide tutorial in-game [I have to learn to mess with the script stuff for that], I'm glad that this demo video has been as helpful as I've got to see in less than a week to so many players :D

      and then you get put into the sliptide tutorial without warning. Then they show off a bunch of empty monitors that show that there's actually like 10x the amount of courses in the game than you thought.

      Tapping the breaks is also your best friend for clearing tight turns with heavies when you cant sliptide through them, alternatively you can do SNES F-Zero style drifts by feathering the accel button while in a drift for even sharper turning at the cost of losing more speed than braking

    yo, i was grinding out some cups and i noticed, not only is Dark Fortress good for practicing sliptides, but it's also good for practicing Lite Steer sliptides! That last turn has like 10 rows of panels and is super wide so there's plenty of room. I knew about sliptides but I didn't know till this video that there were more complex sliptides like that!

    the one thing i'd include that wasn't in here is how much less strict getting wavedashes is as a whole while underwater, but apart from that great super informative video

    • @ArcadeStriker
      @ArcadeStriker  7 месяцев назад +2

      I have to admit that I didn't add that because I didn't even know getting wavedashes were more lenient underwater...if I do get around making a video for additional Wavedash stuff [in the case there's enough material to add more detail about it], then I'll make sure to add that detail.
      Thanks for the feedback and for coming by :D

    • @cookie-qb6mu
      @cookie-qb6mu 7 месяцев назад

      @@ArcadeStriker it might less be that wavedashing is more lenient and moreso that you have less turning control underwater and thus can get tighter wavedashes?

    • @greenthndr
      @greenthndr 5 месяцев назад

      @@cookie-qb6mu yea i noticed that today as well
      i think it's useful to note that in water the sliptide basically loses ALL utility for turning, but the turning is so slight (even though i play like 3 weight) that you can farm full wavedashes on shallow turns--and maybe even straightaways--super easily
      ig since you're using normal steering when you'd otherwise be using lite steer, the sliptide is less precise AND you charge the wavedash faster

    For some reason I couldn’t remember the exact input to do a sliptide and would end up repeatedly tapping drift despite it being quite simple. I think conceptualizing it as move I activate (under the correct conditions obv) by tapping and most importantly negative-edging it. As that’s the part I forget specifically.

    Oh THATS what that is, I'd always activate it at basically random and go "huh, neat", and I though it was done with the ebrake so I figured it was a result of me doing the ebrake input by chance while trying to brakedrift

    • @ArcadeStriker
      @ArcadeStriker  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@jbbajangamer I've heard from the official Discord server that the devs DID have a sliptiding tutorial in mind and on the works for the game before release, but it wasn't finished in time, which is why there isn't one. While I wouldn't know if said in-game sliptide tutorial will eventually exist or not, I'm glad that this is able to fill out the sliptiding details for new players :]

  • @Leekodot15
    @Leekodot15 7 месяцев назад +2

    Do note, falling off the course (maybe also taking damage but I'm not 100% on that) will totally kill your wavedash _dead._ You just won't get it.
    Also, you can theoretically build an infinite wavedash with the right conditions, though it requires a flat, large area, and like... however much time you wanna waste going in circles with a flame shield.

    • @ArcadeStriker
      @ArcadeStriker  7 месяцев назад

      Oh, yeah I had forgot to mention falling off does do that.
      I also had a bit of footage recorded for the possibility of INCREASING the wavedash vortex (I did the first lap in RC with one active and then when I did the sliptide in the second lap's first boostpad, it became massive) but cutted it out since I wasn't sure if I was going to add TOO much to take in for the segment...
      Might be something I could elaborate on if I do a Wavedash-specific video (I do want to make some more videos teaching stuff, such as the Gardentop, Drift Storage and mid-air MTs/Triangle Dash, and other stuff that is described in the manunal but might not be easy to visualize just with that), but originally I hadn't intended to even touch on the wavedash until someone asked about it on the first drafts of the guide, so I took the chance to do it anyways.
      Thanks for coming by and for the feedback :)

    Ring Racers SlipTide is just OP.
    If you master it and also master the WaveDash, you can easily win some cups on Gear 2.
    I remember than SRB2K SlipTide was just simple and dont change your gameplay, but after RR release they just made it broken.

  • @CaterFriendly

      @ArcadeStriker  7 месяцев назад +10

      If you mean sliptiding, then while the mechanic itself was actually present in Kart and with a similar dust kicking effect on the sides of the wheels, in Ring Racers it allows you to turn WAY sharper than before. Wavedashing is a brand new mechanic in RR designed to accompany sliptides.

    In Ring Racers, can the Wavedash boost give you a Sliptide? Can you chain sliptides together in that way to keep going fast forever?

    • @ArcadeStriker
      @ArcadeStriker  27 дней назад

      @@NoviceVideoGamer
      1. No, the Wavedash boost doesn't give you a Sliptide chance. You can only get it from a first blood (start first in a race), sneaker panel boost, sneaker boost, grow/invuln active and boosting with fire shield.
      2. You can theoretically keep building sliptides if you keep getting boosted from sneakers/panels/grow/invuln indefinitely - in a real race you obviously can't do it *forever*, but you'll notice a bigger wave dash effect and stronger boost from it the more it has been built.

    what does miniboost mean here? Dumping rings in your kart?

    • @ArcadeStriker
      @ArcadeStriker  7 месяцев назад

      Whenever you drift, you get sparks, and when you let go of the drift with those sparks, you get a boost. This is what I refer to as miniboost/MT, since it has been used in other kart racing games.
      Using rings doesn't act in the same way those drift boosts do.

      If you have a controller with an analog stick though, it will instead show the Saturn 3D Control Pad. There are also mods to show the PS4 and Xbox One controllers instead, complete with the button layouts.
