Artificially promoting and hiding irrelevant results is a natural part of being an effective search engine. Regardless of partisanship or any other consideration, showing literally everything in a database of results would simply lead to pointless information being presented. What exactly would be the logical criteria that Google could use to provide you this perfect Search engine? Only the newest things? Only alphabetical? In some way you’re going to be promoting or demoing certain information just by how you display it. If you want a simple database of every webpage on the planet that you can write your own search queries for, maybe you can ask Google to create that interface. I don’t think that is what most people want.
They aren’t the world’s most successful search engine for no reason. Many previous search engines ended up displaying a lot of garbage because people try to game the system. Google has been the most successful in providing the most relevant search results for millions of people.

Courts in the U.S. do impose fines like this; see In re: Sealed Case (Amended Redacted Opinion), dated August 9, 2023, Docket Number: 23-5044, D.C. Circuit.
The judge adopted the government’s proposal for calculating sanctions: $50,000 per day of noncompliance, with the rate doubling each additional day. The appeals court upheld this, stating, 'While a geometric schedule is unusual and would generally be improper without an upper limit on the daily fine, we nonetheless uphold the district court's sanctions order based on the particular facts of this case.'

The judge that affirmed this amount is 1 of 2 extremes. He is either so nationalist as to wax nostalgic of the Freisler court in wartime Germany OR he didn't want to alter the amount as to tame down what was actually happening within his country. He may have wanted to highlight the ridiculousness in the boldest of terms.

Such as, a man is selling a brand new Bugatti Chiron, a car that costs $3,300,000, with a 30 day payment plan. The first day your payment is 1 cent, the next day your payment will be 2 cents, the next 4 cents and the day after that 8 cents, continuing in that manner for 30 days. To someone that doesn't stop and think about it, they may think it is a great deal, but it isn't! Even though his payment after a week is only 64 cents on the 7th day, by the 30th day his payment would be $21,474,836.48 and would have been $10,737,418.24 on the 29th day. Look before you leap!

I can see the internet fracturing into regional blocks with increasingly difficult network gateways and firewalls to negotiate. There will not be an "internet" singular, but "internets" plural. It goes without saying that VPNs will be regulated out of effective use and censorship will be openly practised everywhere by corporations and governments, left and right. Like a social credit score pioneered by China and now likely to be replicated by other nations will be the Great Firewall of China, also pioneered by China. This will be seen as essential by every country as the entire world sits under the Damocles Sword of nuclear World War III and hysteria becomes "analysis". If you're not hysterical like everyone else then you will be ostracised and maybe unemployed, even in "democracies".
