    Grew up watching this guy in movies that I wasn't supposed to be watching at those certain ages....but even as a kid I knew Mr Pacino was one of the greats.

    Al Pacino is the coolest. I actually got to talk to him a bit when he was in my city. He was eating at a restaurant and people gathered below the balcony where he was. He came out, was super gracious, answered questions. Just a great sport.

The journalist wanted me to ask him if he was gonna propose to his gf but I thought "I'm not gonna do Al Pacino like that" and avoied the question.

    Al Pacino’s acting as Tony Montana & Michael Corleone should be studied & preserved for generations…One of the few actors whose acting has surpassed the roles & stories they were cast in…Phenomenal he ended up on Conan’s podcast!!

      I apologize in advance for possibly reading way too much into your comment. On one level I agree with your comment. On the other hand, most have us have been affected at some time by a great performance. That being said, Michael Corleone is truly someone I don't want in my life. Pacino made him real. And Conan has made me laugh more than once since probably the 80's.

    Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa in "The Irishman" is one of the great late-career performances ever in a movie. Absolutely crushes and commands the screen

      "Serpico" isn't a "cult classic", it's just a classic. And "early" is arguable, considering he was already a major star at that point. If you want to see PRE-star Pacino doing great work, watch "The Panic in Needle Park".

      Serpico is brilliant, but if we talking about his early work ---> you need check Scarecrow - won Palme d'or in '73. is one of his most overlooked roles and movies, same as And Justice for All (1979.), brilliant two performances...
      My favorite personal acting by Pacino is in Dog Day Afternoon, for me that is one of the greatest performance in cinema history 🐐🏆

    I'll tell you Conan, because you're a damn good person, you're a genuine soul, who doesn't do comedy, but lives it. The way you naturalise comedy, and the way your humour seems emanating from within, not superimposed by some script.... It's just a treat to watch. And on top of that, you're a deeply intellectual guy who doesn't display that intellect, that kinda humbleness is a rarity. The fact that you couldn't tell yourself why you, says all about how humble you are, and just how much it should always have been you, and I'm so glad it is.✨❣️ I'm just a kid for you, I guess I can say it if I mean and feel it, stay blessed ✨

    I love Pacino and De Niro. Their roles and characters are so mind bending and impactful and then you hear them talk and do interviews and HOOO BOY, both seem to struggle to put together a sentence. It's like how is that guy, THAT guy. Ya know?

    Worlds are colliding Jerry! I read in Marty Short's own excellent memoir that the only time he really fangirled out and became a useless conversationalist meeting someone famous later was when it was someone who's work really spoke to him as a youth. It immediately brought all those feelings back. You can see here it's probably the same with Conan and the legendary Al Pacino, except Conan's such a an old pro I'm sure he just powers through it.

    I get asked “who is your favorite actor? So often without a prepared response I’m left with no answer, so I recreated the question for others and this helped me realize who it might be,
    “ which actor male or female happens to always be in the films you watch repeatedly?

    It's a small thing, but the fact Conan had the respect to actually read the whole book and not just skim for talking points shows how seriously he takes his job.

    Conan: You were so excited to be interviewing Pacino, it was really something to see! Then you introduced the hair cut deal at Super Cuts with an equal, if not greater, enthusiasm. Way to go. Conan not only needs a friend - he needs a conscience and a sense of proportion. Sheesh!
