Al Pacino is the coolest. I actually got to talk to him a bit when he was in my city. He was eating at a restaurant and people gathered below the balcony where he was. He came out, was super gracious, answered questions. Just a great sport.

Al Pacino’s acting as Tony Montana & Michael Corleone should be studied & preserved for generations…One of the few actors whose acting has surpassed the roles & stories they were cast in…Phenomenal he ended up on Conan’s podcast!!

On the other hand, most have us have been affected at some time by a great performance. That being said, Michael Corleone is truly someone I don't want in my life. Pacino made him real. And Conan has made me laugh more than once since probably the 80's.

I watched Serpico for the first time last week, and even in early work on a cult classic, Pacino steals the show like no one else. A legend among legends
"Serpico" isn't a "cult classic", it's just a classic. And "early" is arguable, considering he was already a major star at that point. If you want to see PRE-star Pacino doing great work, watch "The Panic in Needle Park".
Serpico is brilliant, but if we talking about his early work ---> you need check Scarecrow - won Palme d'or in '73. is one of his most overlooked roles and movies, same as And Justice for All (1979.), brilliant two performances... My favorite personal acting by Pacino is in Dog Day Afternoon, for me that is one of the greatest performance in cinema history 🐐🏆

The way you naturalise comedy, and the way your humour seems emanating from within, not superimposed by some script.... It's just a treat to watch. I love Pacino and De Niro. Their roles and characters are so mind bending and impactful and then you hear them talk and do interviews and HOOO BOY, both seem to struggle to put together a sentence. It's like how is that guy, THAT guy. Ya know?
I watched it the other day and it's such a simple story yet the feeling he gets out of it is second to none. Such a masterclass in how to put yourself into a character fully.

I read in Marty Short's own excellent memoir that the only time he really fangirled out and became a useless conversationalist meeting someone famous later was when it was someone who's work really spoke to him as a youth. It immediately brought all those feelings back. You can see here it's probably the same with Conan and the legendary Al Pacino, except Conan's such a an old pro I'm sure he just powers through it.
