In an interview i saw with zelda she mentioned they cut down many scenes from the film due to meeting the PG13 rating i hope she release the director's cut cause it was just a fun and delightful film to watch plus i wanna stay in that world a little longer the aesthetic is just too good
We were chuckling in the theater 😂 and i love how it ended. I was expecting a cliche ending but they gave us an unapologetic one that i am craving for a part 2!
Definitely going to be a cult classic. This is one of the films where I ignored the Rotten Tomatoes score and went in because of the three stars (Kathryn, Cole and Liza). My buddies and I love it and laughed so much.
I absolutely loved this movie it was insane and fun, it felt as if they took the abstract concept of "pastel goth" and animated it just like they did with the Victorian corpse love interest.
As a big fan of both Kathryn Newton and Diablo Cody, I am excited. The early previews and the critic reviews scared me, but I'm glad some ppl seem to be getting it and hopefully I will too

Thank you for this review! I had a blast with it and I’m also pretty surprised to see that so many online weren’t satisfied (I never trust Rotten Tomatoes anyway). This had everything I was looking for in this type of movie and in terms of set/costume design - and visually in general - I thought it was very well done! I was also pleasantly surprised by Kathryn Newton’s performance, I think she killed it as what I believe will be considered an iconic badass character in five years.
Quirky indie, goth, darkly comedic, homage to 80s cinema, if not in look and feel, certainly in vibe, and idiosyncratic, theatrical line deliveries. The more I think about the pastiche of references, the more I dig it. If the Blu-ray release fills in the narrative gaps, I'll buy it for the "Leave the World Behind" inspired, doomsday prep, movie library I'm putting together. Great review, keep them coming!

Why has Cole Sprouse been facing criticism lately? I heard this come up with my friends a few months ago and I’m confused. They referenced his CHD podcast interview. I listened to it and thought it was interesting and extremely benign. He just seems like a person. Did he do something I don’t know about??
Great review as always! I was reading about how they knew about the PG-13 way enough ahead of time so that the tone didn't suffer & I agree, I think it hit exactly what it was going for. The rotten score was super surprising & I had good fun with it, I just personally think I would've enjoyed it more if their combined creativity had fun with the open doors an R rating could've provided, like it feels more missed opportunity than that it was hurt by the rating. I want a poster for this very much

I agree. Now if a movie only has a 15 percent rating on RT that is a good indication that the movie is terrible, but for some reason it bothers me that The Beekeeper has a higher RT score than Lisa Frankenstein

I’m struggling with this one. I’m a big fan of Kathryn Newton from her episodes on Supernatural and Big Little Lies. Even had the pleasure of meeting her and she couldn’t have been sweeter. That being said for whatever reason this movie didn’t fully seek to work for my wife and I even though it seemed to be very much in our vein. I thought Newton was entertaining in the part but the humor just didn’t land and the story didn’t seem to flow well with the style for whatever reason and it ironically felt kinda lifeless. I’m hearing so much positive buzz about it and it’s been nagging at me. Maybe I should see it again? Have been hesitating putting out my own thoughts on it.

I seriously cannot understand how anybody enjoys this movie, the romance and horror genres are over produced, and usually end up as pieces of crap. Did the twilight movies teach us nothing about trying to mix monster movies with romance here is a brief summary of this movie guy who died after having his heart broken, is brought back to life by the wish of a girl who wishes she was dead. After being assaulted, she decides to start killing people in order to make her perfect boyfriend, who happens to be a reanimated corpse, and in the end, decides to kill herself to escape the police only for said, reanimated corpse to then later on revive her as another reanimated corpse
I want to see it and I saw the poster for it for the first time I’ve never seen bottoms so I’m not too worried about if people are like not down for it that’s fine I love Jennifers body I was in my mid-20s when I saw that movie because me and Megan are the same age

I agree. I really enjoyed Lisa Frankenstein as well. I do think that the second half wasn’t as strong as the first half but that’s just my opinion.
