Nick is a hell of a professional.
You can see that on some level he's enjoying some of the antics, but on the whole he's just trying his damndest to keep from flipping that table at Ross.
+TPRJones Nick reminds me a lot of my director and stage craft teacher. Especially that moment in part 1 where he threw shade at Suzy and then held his hat to his chest.

Seeing Nicks various reactions in general is my favourite part of the poker episodes.
Seeing him crack a smile or seeing his soul trying to leave his body when trying to maintain, dare I say, a poker face, is beautiful.

It's how I always play Poker with my friends. I take on the persona of the Crazy Frenchman and make wild illogical bets. Win big or go home after only 3 hands lol
Playing poker with Ross is like playing chess with three chickens and a stick of dynamite.
The dealer is one of the best parts of this, because he genuinely seems to find them hilarious and joins in with their jokes.
I kept getting the impression that the dealer was on Ross's side. They were really kinda bullying him but it looked like the dealer knew Ross was probably hustling everybody.
Ross is such a great antagonist he just brings out such great rage

Toward the middle of this video I found myself thinking that Ross is either:
A) A complete dumb-fuck who couldn't understand basic rules but still managed to beat everyone; or
B) An incredible genius/sociopath capable of fooling everyone with his act while slamming all of them in poker.

+Fawriel He definitely reminds me of myself, the way he accidentally wins. I've never played Poker, but when playing Bullshit or War (and War is 100% luck), I tend to just accidentally win, often times after I spent awhile going "Wtf is happening? I do this with my card? OOPS I WON"
Dxroid, I'm on mobile so I can't tag you, but that's exactly how I play too! I was playing BS with my friend, her brother, and her brothers friend, and I won three times in a row! I didn't even strategize or anything. Don't ask me how I did it. 😂

I feel like Holly drilled Ross like a commander to get him to learn how to play Texas Hold 'em, and Ross basically fell asleep and now only has a vague understanding, like he knows how to play subconsciously, he just thinks he has no idea, and because of that, everybody thinks he has no idea.

Ross is surprising good, and lucky at Holdem. His attitude towards how he checks or calls his hand is a bluff tactic he could ONLY use among his friends. Do that at a real poker table, and you get your ass kicked in or off the table.

Yea the only difference is, he's not bluffing, he's really confused on how to play the game while the rest over analyze his actions.
pallafox I think your falling for Ross' bluffs, he is clearly in the know, its gotten to the point where they know he is bluffing but arent even sure if they can do anything about it.

pallafox Sounds like Ross is the better player. Holdem is a betting man's game. Literally the best strategy is to raise and bet to large that other players are scared away from staying in. This is the fact of the game. It is a get rich quick game. The player with the most money on the table can bully everyone from the table simply by betting BIG. Ross does this knowing its not his winnings, seeing as all he money is for charity. He is the better player for this specific game.
Not like in 5 card draw where no one else can have or share the same cards or hands as you. Holdem is NOT the best poker game. Moves to fast, and is shallow when it comes to mental skill, and social attitudes to your peers.

I watch this video now and again literally just for the 'NOW WE'RE PLAYING POKER'
I've watched this probably four times now (cause I love it), but only now I'm realizing that Ross must have not taken his ADD meds that day. He cant focus on anything, makes decisions for no reason, and can't remember the rules. He probably legitimately had no idea what was going on for this entire session, other than that he got lucky and everyone was kinda mean.
+Ashac Flame He got incredibly lucky without knowing whats happening while everyone else got shat on. Its nothing about him being oh poor Ross, when hes winning by landslide. It would be one thing if barry and Ross's roles were reversed, with him just getting destroyed with no clue whats happening, but he won. People were being mean because its a little annoying when someone just waltzes in and beats you at something you have practiced at and slaved over learning while having no clue whats happening.

If someone has been lucky the whole night, you don't antagonize them! Watching this shit, people call out that Ross has something going on most of the times he has something good, or it's obvious what he has. A 7, 8, 9, and jack are on the board? And Ross just doubled the bet? I wonder if I should call that with my single pair-- no. No you shouldn't. The rest of the team is playing like they don't know the game, except Dan. Arin is getting pissed over someone else's luck, Barry wanted to antagonize Ross for his shenanigans, and Suzie ate tons of losses because she was stubborn about giving up certain hands. Ross plays like a hussler, like at 9:10 he... legitimately knows that a King and a higher card could take him out, but it's a small enough risk to up the ante on.. except I'm pretty sure he's not hussling and just lucky. But.... yeah. They did get mad at Ross for something completely out of his control, doing his best with what he had and understood while under the influence of... something. Or the lack of something. But I also think he forgot his meds. He keeps making weird noises and his movements are using up extra energy for no apparent reason.

They're playing with some weird casino rules or something. Antis AND varying blind bets? Dan can't check but Ross can? And a dealer who doesn't play? I can see this working in a casino setting, but it just seems un-fun for a friendly game. Although the dealer as a straight-man to the insanity is pretty funny.

Love that feeling when you have all the chips.. You can play it safe and not give anybody else anything, or bet JUST enough when you are confident to force them to go all in or slowly fold their remaining cash away.. Whether he knows how to play or not, Ross is in such a good position now.

You pray you get the best hand of cards (straights, pairs, etc. just like other card games).
You get 2 cards and you're shown 5 cards... slowly.
Players bet if they think they have the best hand as more information is made available to them, or as they read other players.
