At plastic state curvature of the beam is not infinite. What I was trying to convey was that if a plastic hinge had formed and then if you had increased the load further then it behaves as a mechanism. But in actual design the load never crosses this plastic limit. You can imagine a freely revolving door for an example which is connected to an actual hinge. Is there any limit on the rotation of such door ?
