Congratulations, Mpho, on all your success, both musically and personally! You are truly a gift to Batswana AND to the world!

Geographical location should not invalidate one's cultural roots or sense of belonging, no matter where life may take them. Motswana ke Motswana go sa kgathalesege gore o nna kae mo lefatsheng. Regardless of where our Batswana artists are operating, we fully appreciate their work-after all, their international success was probably not handed to them on a silver platter! Instead of questioning their "validity" as Batswana or their place in the "Botswana industry," we should embrace and support them in their journeys! #MothoKeMothoKaBatho #IAmBecauseWeAre #Alkebulan

Who determined that we would be labelled as 'Batswana'-essentially assigning us this citizenship? [Answer: The Berlin Conference of 1884/5 and the 1895 visit of the three dikgosi to England.] There are people in Botswana who don’t belong to traditional Tswana groups, such as the BaKalanga, who are not part of the Tswana-speaking communities but have been compelled to adopt Setswana as one of their official languages. When will other languages, beyond the dominant Tswana languages {and English}, be officially recognized by the state? Is this issue even considered critical by Ntlo Ya Dikgosi or Parliament?

I am going to assume that when we say 'Re Batswana', we are referring to the nationality (determined at the Berlin conference AND 1895 visit of 3 Dikgosi to England), but what does it really mean for non-Tswana speaking groups in Botswana that identify as Batswana? Do we classify them as (voiceless) minority groups? To what extent do their languages matter at a national level?

In pre-colonial Tswana society, men reared livestock and hunted while women ploughed the fields. In essence, both men and women were providers in traditional Tswana society. At what point did women lose their role as co-providers, and men gain the role of sole provider? Why is it that, nowadays, men feel the need to provide for women, and women feel they must be provided for by men? Where does feminism stand in all of this? Does it advocate for the unconditional independence of women, or are women free to choose the level of independence they want? If women are free to choose their level of independence, what are the implications for men?

A mosadi, "o TLHOKA monna gore a mo thuse here and there?" Is there no conceptualization of individualism/independence for women in all this?

I understand you Joey, but you should remember that your Culture Spears and many other artists recorded their music in Zimbabwe but you don't regard them Zimbabwean or international artists
