It would be great, for each watchmaker, to have a 15 min episode in detail about their: education, exact job, and how they do it -- there must be over 30 specialties.
TheWATCHES.tv from what I remember about you ,you have some relevant training , I’m sure a local watchmaker would take you on as work experience, but the time taken would wipe out your RUclips , don’t leave us Marc ;-)
What a story! One of the best stories told of a watchmaker team and a project! It is honest and authentic, as well as beautifully shot and edited. I can just imagine how it must have been a struggle to decide what to leave on the cutting room floor, but the rigor TheWatches.tv team showed in storytelling is exemplar. It is stories like this that create visceral connections between enthusiasts and collectors to the makers. Thank you for the work of love in creating this three part series and sharing with the community. Congratulations on the 9 years… and hope to see many, many more years to come! 🎉👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
As someone who knows what it means to work with ones hands to make something with meaning, this was a powerful reminder for what it means to be so utterly enchanted with the abilities to make precious objects. Where some people might see only cold logic and precise mathematics, others can find such wonder and endless imagination and passion in the wonderous architecture of time, the realisation of artistic endevour in a machine which to many has become obsolete. To see their eyes light up and sparkle at the culmination of their efforts makes me resonate with them so strongly and is a powerful motivator to many people who also seek such fulfilment in arts such as watchmaking. Thank you for producing a documentary that actually features the people that worked on the object, who had a hand in its realisation, and who spoke of their thoughts and emotions as they experienced it in real time; it is so much more powerful and wonderful to see the people behind it rather than reading about it in a magazine or hearing about it from an advertisement. It was a beautiful project!
You’re giving me goosebumps with this highly appreciated comment. Am very happy you grasped our intention, because at the end it’s always a question of people. Many thanks and very happy you liked it 🙏🙏🙏
This is like visual poetry, nothing less than "Breathtaking". Thank you for the video Marc. You inspired me to collect watches. Will be getting my first automatic real soon. Love from India!! 🇭🇺
I'm stunned, inspired, humbled, excited, gratified, and appreciative. Thank you so much for this great video. Respect to you and Greubel Forsey Family.
Super film, super montage et superbe montre. Tout ça met vraiment en valeur tous ces gens passionnés de chez Grubel Forsey ansi que de Watch TV. Vraiment hâte de voir ce genre de documentaire sur ta chaîne plus souvent.
Although a Gruebel Forsey is far out of my reach for years to come, I cannot express enough how happy I am to see it being hand made. The emotions, when you have a products of all of your, and your team's hard work and sweat in your hand is just priceless.
Absolutely incredible. Loved this series! You are probably the only people on RUclips who get behind the scenes in watchmaking and can show the process of how these innovative timepieces are developed and made. This particular watch is just perfection, every little detail thought out and accomplished by hand. As you zoom in, the amount of details seems to just keep getting bigger! This style of watchmaking is truly art; the pursuit of perfection such as this can only be done by people fully immersed and engaged in their field. Viva watchmaking!
I take it he slams the container on the desk to separate the four balance springs. More technical information about the movement would of been appreciated but none the less a great series! Keep up the great work , viva la watchmaking!
Last but not least. Fantastic series, really enjoyed them. I think, at the end, where he talks about younger people getting involved; hopefully we see that younger people see engineering, not just watchmaking, actually making things, as a future they could get involved in.
This entire series was a piece unique presentation for true lovers of the most interesting and technical aspects in beautiful micro-mechanics, and of course watchmaking.
Amazing work by the skilled people at Greubel Forsey. And a great video too :) I'd love to see more of this! But would it be possible to add names and area of expertise to the people in the video?
Marc, such great great work. I work on movies , some are Hollywood sort of big-ish, and we always have pretty interesting product placement deals. If this lockdown ever ends I would like to invite you to come to our set as our guest and enjoy our hospitality and talk about the modern phenomenon of watches in movies? Viva !
Did they mention anything during filming about the why they chose such a large diameter/height for the watch case? The movement looks like it could fit in a more wearable 40mm case, or am I incorrect?
I want to see this series with far more technical detail. Show the machines, how they work, when they stopped being used. This feels like a trailer for a more complete film of the whole process. The human emotion part was captured well, but not enough humans shown doing the work.
Yes, we focused more on the human dimension, but I understand what you are saying, would have simply been a much longer project ;) Hope we'll be able to do this at a later stage. Thanks for sharing your opinion
What an amazing series. GF truely does not throw around the words "hand made" lightly. Thank you for sharing.
It would be great, for each watchmaker, to have a 15 min episode in detail about their: education, exact job, and how they do it -- there must be over 30 specialties.
Much more than that actually, really quite crazy!! And would love to do this of course

@@johnimg Would indeed be an issue ;)
This is what real watchmaking is about! Using your own hands to build a beatiful, precise time piece. I'd love to see more handmade pieces. ✌🏻
More to come!

You are most welcome, thanks!

I take it he slams the container on the desk to separate the four balance springs. More technical information about the movement would of been appreciated but none the less a great series! Keep up the great work , viva la watchmaking!
We focused a bit more on the human adventure ;) All the best to you
Gf one the best designers until now. Greatness.
Last but not least. Fantastic series, really enjoyed them. I think, at the end, where he talks about younger people getting involved; hopefully we see that younger people see engineering, not just watchmaking, actually making things, as a future they could get involved in.
I think so, we see a lot of young people involved and passionate about it, this is obviously super great!! All the best to you
This tourbilion must see on every watch -it s fantastic
Thanks Marc Andre, brilliant 👍.
Very very happy you enjoyed this 🙏🙏

Amazing work by the skilled people at Greubel Forsey.
And a great video too :)

Yes, this is a good point, we had a lot of debating about this...
One word: incroyable!
Merci!!
very impressive skills
Definitely!!!

That would be fantastic! Thanks for the comment and the proposition, there is still so much to say, show and share. All the very best to you
Now just image how the old masters of a hundred years ago and even earlier made the hairspring and balance wheel!
True!!!!
Merci pour ce reportage, le travail de GF est vraiment hallucinant.. magnifique projet que cette "hand made 1"
Viva hand made, Viva independent watch making!
That's right!!
Is that a door hinge at 1:48? I love it!
Haha, yes it is ;)
Did they mention anything during filming about the why they chose such a large diameter/height for the watch case? The movement looks like it could fit in a more wearable 40mm case, or am I incorrect?
All GF watches are quite big, so they stayed in this "mood" if I can say so.
Wow! Impressionnante!
After this I need an eye loupe! Well put trilogy about watch passion tha you hear all the time, and couldn't imagine what it is.
Very happy you liked it, thanks!!
👍🏼 awesome content.
Glad you think so!
Thank you!
Thanks MAD
Most welcome!

So you must the “thumbs down” dude ;)
These guys (and their ultra-fine watch world buddies) are on a different planet.
