No problem! But it is a lot of additional work and time, and sometimes, us reviewers just do not have the time to do all the tests we would like to do!
Thank you for touching on the video editing timeline performance. For some reason other reviewers don't talk about that much or at all and that is sooooooooooo much more important (imo at least) than export time.
big, bright screen and un-gamery aesthetic. I like it. There are some killer 3070/ti deals right now but DLSS 3 is a game changer. Looking forward to more 4000 series laptop coverage. Going to need lots of reviews to pick the right one if I'm going to be forking out that much money!
@Cut That If there was credible evidence of that I can think of a lot of technology outlets that would not be ignoring the story. To add to that: Nvidia have many overstocked 3000 series cards to sell. It's nonsensical to suggest that they would not support frame generation on them if they could.
@@kylerclarke2689 imo they will support only if FSR 3.0 will bring similar functionality and will be avail on RTX3XXX. In case of this laptop, FG makes little sense, since it only have 60Hz screen. Sure you could hook it up to big screen, then it makes mores sense. I've bought older aero 16 with 3070ti (and flashed to 130W, to get 11k TS score), since new gen was 75% more than older :O No point in paying 2/3 more just for frame gen, slightly better screen and ports.
Hello, congratulate you on your analysis, very good. I want to ask you for some advice, I don't know which version of the laptop to buy, the prices are similar but there are different characteristics, I am talking about the GIGABYTE AERO 16 model with RTX 4070 and the GIGABYTE AORUS 17H with RTX 4080, which one do you advise me to buy? I will use it more for creative work and video editing in 4k. I wait your answer.
It really depends on what app you are working with and how portable you want your laptop to be. The aero is much easier to carry around and will have better battery life. And the screen comes with that colour profile switcher that I mentioned in the video and is tremendously helpful when colour grading. The aorus will give you much more performance, especially since the GPU is a lot faster and runs with more juice!
After having used the 680M integrated GPU for games, I'm interested in power efficiency and the 4050-4070's 35W limits. Is it possible to manually limit TDP to 35W, then benchmark games at that power point?
@@NotebookcheckReviews Interestingly, Dell have just announced their 40xx refresh, they've used 4070s and 4080s in their top models at 40 and 60W! Now that will be fun to benchmark!
I see mixed results on the weight of the laptop. On their official website it mentions 1.9 and on many other places it is 2.1kg. Have you guys measured it by yourself.
Ordered this just now, open box from leading UK retailer Currys, for a little under £1,400 including delivery. This review massively helped me pull the trigger, as I know this source actually tests laptops hard. I especially appreciated the fan noise clips with the contextual key taps - as someone with significant sound sensitivity, noise levels were definitely a key concern of mine, and it seems like these fans aren't intolerable at all. Although given this specification, and in particular the 4070 efficiency, I may be able to run everything on silent mode for the near future anyway! Thank you!
@@VP-ri5pb Honestly not sure! The screen is as fabulous as I hoped, I've had some issues with coil whine but it's just about bearable for me and would probably not be noticed by most... Similarly, fan noise in gaming is hard to ignore but not unusual (or intolerable even for me). Meanwhile, performance (and my model was a 4060 not 4070, no other difference from this review spec) seems to be impressive. Admittedly I've not tested it with the kind of games most people would, but the notoriously unoptimised Cities Skylines II handles the very early stages even at the native resolution, and Civilization VI (my most-played game) looks amazing at maxed-out 4K and even endgame turns aren't hugely delayed. Because I play slow games like this, image quality and loading speed is more important to me than FPS, and this delivers for that.
Great review! If you had to pick one to be your main laptop, would you pick this new Gigabyte Aero 16 OLED or the Dell XPS 15 9520 OLED from last year? Which one has the better keyboard and trackpad? I'm torn between the two since the Gigabyte has a newer CPU and GPU, but the difference is so minimal that I'm not considering them as a deciding factor. Both are priced the same and very similar overall, but from what I keep hearing, the battery seems to be noticeably better on the Dell.
I have a Dell XPS 15 here right now, and in terms of performance, especially regarding the GPU, the AERO is much faster. It has the better IO, but they are equal in terms of chassis quality. It comes down to what you do with your machine, but if they are priced the same, I would personally go for the AERO. - AlexBig-screen gaming just got an upgrade! - Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 Hands-On Teaser #shorts
I owned 2 OLED Laptops so far and never had any problems so far personally. Gigabyte is using pixel shift as soon as the screen is doing „nothing“ so that should help as well.
Tough choice since they are both very different from one another. Since I am doing as much video editing as gaming, I would probably go with the M16, just because I would need the additional performance!
It really depends on your needs and preferences. Reasons to consider the AERO 16: - Much better GPU: if your work related application is GPU-intensive, or if you intend to game at all, it's a no brainer, the difference here is very noticeable (also because of a much larger gaming library of Windows) - A bit more powerful CPU: That's arguable and hard to compare since they run on different OS, but the i9 here performs better in most applications and benchmarks. Most work-related applications rely more on the CPU. Although I don't know you'll notice the difference in performance from an M3 MacBook. - Better port selection: especially if you're comparing it to the MacBook Air and not the Pro - Upgradeability: you can upgrade your storage (with 2 SSD slots) and your RAM down the line. - You prefer Windows Reasons to consider the Apple MacBook M3 - Battery life: it's much more energy efficient. As I said, you might not notice the difference in performance on the CPU, but you'll definitely notice the longer battery life of the MacBook. - Much better speakers: no comparison here, really, MacBooks sound much better - Better touchpad - Quieter: if you're considering the MacBook Air that is, I'm not sure the MacBook Pro is quieter than the AERO 16. - Smaller, thinner, lighter - You prefer MacOs or the Apple ecosystem So first things first, do you intend to game on your laptop at all? Then get the AERO 16 not only because of a much better GPU, but also because of the much larger game library of Windows. But, getting that out of the way I would advise you to take a look at what softwares do you use on your laptop the most and search online if they are more GPU or CPU-intensive, and if they work well on Windows and/or MacOs. Then I would take the other stuff I mentioned into consideration. Lastly, if you're buying a MacBook, remember that you won't be able to upgrade RAM and storage afterwards, only during purchase. I strongly advise you to get at least 16 GB of RAM (and at least 512 GB of storage). Trust me, don't get 8 GB version. Unfortunately, Apple tends to markup the prices of these upgrades, but you'll be stuck with your choice forever so chose wisely.
If it wasn't for DLSS 3, most people would not look at this card in that laptop or in the desktops compared to price. I have the aero with the 3060 version and the i7 11th gen oled 4K and it is still a pretty damn impressive laptop since I use it for on the go video editing, 3D modeling, working on Unity, and After Effects. Honestly, I think keeping it at any generation "60" is the best bang for the power. I think no one really games at 4K as I believe the sweet spot is still 1440p. I just can't see the pricing of the new generation cards compared to productivity and gaming. I still own a desktop with i7 8700k, 64 gigs of ram, and the 1080 ti and with Nvidia's new upscale update for the old cards, that desktop is still rocking hard running almost every games extremely well at 1440p when it was meant for 1080p. The desktop I have now has the i7 13th Gen with a 3080 and 32 gigs of ram and honestly, that set up is really, really good. Although I wanted the 3080 ti, it is forever gone. It's cool that a laptop can store the 80 and 90 versions of any cards but honestly, the 60 of any version cards will always be the best when comparing price to power. Anything after that, might as well just get a desktop.
@Mario Zamora Totally agree with what you're saying. Only a few main manufacturers go full 1440p or 4K screen on laptops with the "60" cards and it's either a hit or miss, but I have seen those laptops being a hit more than miss. The rest of the manufacturers know they're trying to milk money from people so like you said dont go full throttle. I know the Aero 15 I have is an incredible well put laptop. From watching movies, video editing, visual effects, 3D modeling, and using Unity at 4K to video gaming wise at 1440p with most titles all maxed out at Ultra or on high - most games run smooth at 60 fps and for the heavy ones 45-50 fps with the 3060 and i7 11th Gen. That aero 15 is going to last me a long time until I wanna buy the 4060 version.
Thank you for the review! In your opinion, how is the 16 inch screen on this versus a 17inch one? I have a 17inch 4k laptop that is a few years old that I want to replace, but 15 inch screens are too small for my taste. If a 16 inch screen feels similar to a 17 inch in perception, this laptop might be what I am looking for since it's also available in 4k!
Good question .... I would say it compares better to a 17" than to a 15". 15" feels very small, even coming from a 16". The added height makes it feel much bigger than one would expect. It is quite the ideal sweet spot between the two more traditional sizes. - Alex
@@NotebookcheckReviews this is what concerns me, strix seems to have canceled the 16 inch 4090 version and only sends out 4080s with 16 inch, lenovo does the same... does that mean they dont want 16 inch 4090s to be tested because they burst into flames?
4:46 does the color "Profile Manager" software work system-wide? Can you tell if it works at the display "hardware" (maybe firmware) level, or the OS level, or only in compatible software? And even if it works system-wide, can we still use ICC profiles on top of that? Thanks!
It is on the OS level, and you can still apply your own ICC profiles on top, but I don't know if that would improve things. For our calibration, I chose the uncalibrated preset and then did the calibration.
Hey does the laptop screen bend on your unit? I saw another review by Matthew Moniz and there's a shot in the video where he lies the screen on a table and all the commenters noticed a bend in the screen. Was wondering if possibly that's a optical illusion or a defect since I'm looking to buy this laptop.
In the written review, a gaming stresstest in Gaming mode or Creator mode produces 55 or 50dB, respectively. Both values are very much louder than your Furmark noise samples suggest. Which is right - the written review or the calibration of your noise samples relative to your voice? I do not think that both can be correct. --robert jasiek
That does sound rather loud to me, given my experience with it. But I will soon be able to do DB-Measurements alongside my noise samples for a more accurate representation. As for what it correct, that is very hard for me to answer. The Aero 16 was relatively well behaved, but so many factors can influence my samlpes and the measurements ...
Absolutely! I get huge Vaio Vibes from this one. Although i think it doesn't look that good. If i didn't know it's high quality aluminum build, i'd asume it' just another 600 bucks low powered thin plastic machine.
I have the aero 15 3060 i7. Im extremely happy with the 4k screen and gaming performance. But I’m going to wait until the 5000 or 6000 series to upgrade. By then dlss 4-5 and frame generation will be perfected.
@@NotebookcheckReviews does not it have screen burn issues like intensive editing working 10 hours on the screen or even you just left the screen on for background tasks?
Really nice machine! Too bad its not available in my country :( When you do the gaming benchmarks, do you take DLSS3 and Frame Gen into account? These features should give earlier 3080 ti models a run for its money.
Aren't you afraid of the shortcomings of Oled screens? Burn-in, flickering, dead pixels? I also like this laptop and the advantages of the Oled screen, but the disadvantages of the screen repels the purchase
I've had this for the past month, and I reckon it's an excellent machine! My only complaint is the poor quality speakers...they sound terrible! Nothing a pair of headphones can't fix though.
Nope, not that I would have noticed when I did the benchmarks. And the most extended gaming session I had on this one was about 1-2 hours of Hogwarts Legacy, also without any problems.
I am not sure that I would call it a scam, given that a 100W 4070 can outperform some 3080 Tis ... but I think we would all have hoped for more. I agree with you on that!
@@NotebookcheckReviews with scam i mean that i think nvidia thought that mid budget buyers look at the 4090/80 and think the 70 is a linear step down without checking the details...
That is true. The difference is more significant than we thought it would be. When looking into a well-performing GPU, it might be better to look into a 4080 or a high-power-level 4060. But all of this depends on how pricing develops.
Vergleich zum MSI M16 Studio wäre sehr interessant. Gerade die einzigen kompakten Performance Laptops wenn man vom nicht upgradefähigen Samsung absieht
I've come to dislike laptops with dedicated video outputs as they steal at least 2 of the 4 available GPU interfaces from the TB ports. With the Dell XPS17 9710 I can run 4 external 4K monitors @60hz with just 2 TB cables, that wouldn't work with the Aero (despite having 2 TB4 ports) as half of the GPU interfaces are assigned to its video outputs.
For Aero 16, it's a big improvement this year. For RTX4070, it's a trap. Both 3070Ti and 4070 performed almost the same without frame generation. It's kind of depends on whether or not buyers want to buy a laptop that has frame generation support. But the price gap between 3070Ti and 4070 is at least $300🤣, which is also a efficient strategy for Nvidia to clean up inventory of 30 series.
You might be right about their intentions when it comes to pricing. But you can not generally say these cards perform the same. It comes down to wattage and cooling. But the difference is not as big as we all hoped it would be. Let us hope some of you guys can get good deals on last year's tech then! And yes, the Aero works really well this year!
@@NotebookcheckReviews Thank you, Alex. You perspective is more comprehensive. I'm waiting for the full review of Helios 18 equipped with 13th i9+ 4070 at the RUclips Chanel. If it performs not in a dominant way when comparing to helios 300, I would like to choose helios 300.
Most AAA titles from now onwards are going to support frame generation. The 2023 model also offers a mux switch and a much better port selection and the charging port to the back, not to the right hand side where it gets in the way of your mouse. I did not test it, but since the 2022 olny offers Displayport via Thunderbolt, it wasn't even possible to connect an externa screen directly to the NVIDIA graphics card.
Is it just me? Or does the unused space between the battery and the left speaker imply that Gigabyte could have either included a larger 96Wh battery or more spacious speakers?
I'm really interested in understanding the noise levels on this. It was one of the biggest complaints about the previous gen Aero's - "hairdryer" was a phrase I saw used often. My main use case is as an audio production laptop, so I need it to be pretty quite in general. I don't anticipate typically driving it so that it's sweating so hard it needs massive cooling to be going on. I'm interested in understanding how noisy it is at mid level loads. A constant white noise going all the time ( even if it's "quite" ) would be a problem for me in a critical listening environment. My air conditioner is somewhat a a problem for reference - not overly noisy, but certainly also not quiet. The Macbook has no fans and is quiet which is why it's so popular, but I don't want to migrate to Mac - staying with windows. I've got my supplier ready to order a 64GB spec for for me, but I don't want to make a rather expensive mistake and end up regretting it ! Can you expand a bit on the noise as it's difficult to judge how noisy it actually is in the room by looking at those noise samples in the video.
A Thought : I could disable the Nvidia and run off the intel gpu while doing audio work. I'd be using an external monitor though I've read the HDMI out is forced to use the Nvidia. Through TB I could bypass that. Is it possible to force the intel to be used from within GCC, and if so, would that be expected to have a positive impact on noise levels ?
MacBook Pros absolutely have fans, and you'll hear them kick in under the highest loads. MacBook Airs are passively cooled, but obviously they're nowhere near as powerful.
@@RyneLanders I've never had one so I've no idea - seems like an urban myth as I've come across mentioned quite a few times in relation to the MBP vs Windows Power Laptops !

May I suggest a new test ; performance on 100w PD only. For traveling I think alot of people would take into account if they can simply take a small Gan charger that support 100w PD ( or the new 140W )
Good idea, we have been thinking about that for a while now. And I did that in the ROG M16 review since that one came with a seperate 100W USB-C charger.
Good review. It seems Gigabyte is slowly picking up on its mistakes with the previous Aero line. The specs on the 4070 do feel a bit too much like planned obsolescence though, especially in the memory issue. It seems terribly unintuitive to cripple high-res performance on a card like this, when pretty much every machine equiped with it is going to rock at least a 16:10 1440p display, or an outright 4K one. That single core performance might be some driver issue, it seems terribly unlikely that the cooling system could drive the multi-core test that hard but falter in a single core test. 13th gen Intels are performing well, as expected. The speaker test is almost funny, *my god* that's like a different song entirely. Still, I will take bad speakers and stellar screen over the opposite any day of the week. I take my headphones wherever I go, but carting around a monitor kind of misses the point of buying a notebook, eh? Surprising battery life for an Intel chip. Overall, it seems like they sacrificed far less than they did previously, aided in no small amount by the 4070 just not going that high in wattage. I do believe a more experienced builder like Lenovo or Asus could have squeezed out the last ten watts out of the 4070 though- they've delivered higher power limits in similar, or even smaller chassis in the past. I can see something like an art or archtecture studio buying twenty of these for their staff when refreshing their equipment- performance is good enough, the biggest cut corner is audio which, if I'm honest is the easiest one to forgive in a notebook, the screen is excellent for indoor use and the price is probably going to be a few hundred to a thousand dollars less than the rest of the art-focused competition. Of course, you take the OLED screen out of consideration and last gen offers the same performance for a thousand fewer dollars, so one's milage my vary.
Yes, they did, thank god. I wish they would have given the 4070 10gigs of VRAM, especially with the "Creator" focus, since some applications use all of the available video memory. A BIOS update will likely fix the single-core situation since the CPU only goes up to 20W in such scenarios. Or, that is just a theory. They configured it that way to keep the fans from pulsing in various low-load scenarios ... But that is just a thought on my end. Maybe it is really just a driver thing. When it comes to the speakers, I have my headphones connected to my laptops all the time anyways. But whenever I use a macbook or something with good speakers, I also tend to use them more... But as you said, it is the easiest thing to forgive!
The noise level is delightful but I will also consider price, speed, other GPUs and other aspects in comparison to other computers. In particular, OLED likely with PWM is not my preferred choice. --robert jasiek
And here I thought this might be the one for you. It even got regular sized arrow keys. Maybe the PWM frequency isnt bothersome I have hope for when our written review goes live! ;)
@@NotebookcheckReviews I did notice the arrow keys:) Has dongle land been overcome? PWM has three dimensions: what one immediately notices visually, what one experiences within hours and health problems that might occur many years later. 4080 Laptop is tempting: it is the speed I have sought for deskptop. Therefore, 4070 Laptop is a compromise, which I try to avoid. 4080 Laptop at 60~70% power level might be a better choice for me, but more tests are needed. --robert jasiek
I am currently testing a MSI Stealth Studio that actually uses a 105W 4080. It may sounds severely limited with that kind of wattage, but it is quiet AND powerful. But you will not like the keyboard ;)
It was supposed to be a 4060laptop and Nvidia changed name of it later since AMD couldn't deliver a decent laptop GPU this time. It's memory bus was 128bit as 1050ti,so heavy stuttering in some games. Half memory speed than last gen 4070. But Nvidia is thinking they can fool customers by dlss3 fake frame generation.
And you get your insight information from where? I am not saying I am 100% behind the 4070, especially since the whole memory configuration severely limits the chip. But we haven't observed any heavy stuttering. Can you elaborate on which games you are referring to? You can say about NVIDIA what you want, but FG works ....
@@NotebookcheckReviews Excellent Notebook! May I ask how were you able to get a glossy screen model? Because B&H store advertises all 2023 series as having Matte display. Does B&H have wrong specs or some sites let you choose between glossy and matte option?
It's actually not ... is it a lot faster? No. Is it still on par or better at a lower wattage? Yes! It may not be a good option for a gaming laptop, but with that I agree. But for such a thin and light "work" focused machine, this config makes sense ...
@NotebookcheckReviews you can buy a 3070ti discounted thin and light for less than 2500 euro, the oled screen is nice though, you should point out the 4070 is weak for its price
I did say that I am unsure what to think about the 4070 in general. But this is a laptop review, and the whole package offers quite a decent experience in my opinion. It is not a value option but rather a premium one, and within that device category, I think the Aero 16 offers a well-rounded performance experience. And you will always be able to buy last-gen at a better price.
Look slike RTX 4070 is very power efficient and able to perform better than its 3000 series counterparts in low wattage configuration. However, is it only me or other people noticed that RTX 4070 performs lower in higher resolution like in QHD? Probably the 128 Bit memory Bus and lower memory bandwidth of 256GB/s compared to 448 GB/s in RTX 3070 Ti Mobile, is the main culprit here. In my opinion, this year Nvidia is trying do portray a clear disntiction between their higher end Mobile GPUs and the mid-end GPUs, unlike 300 series where it was sometimes within 10% (between a RTX 3070 Ti and and a RTX 3080).
I think that was NVIDIA's intention as well. Given that some 3070 Ti last year have easily outperformed some low-wattage 3080s, I doubt we will see that happening a lot this year.
I saw this on sale for like half off but honestly it seemed like garbage. No battery life and everyone was reporting faulty equipment. I got a Legion 7 full AMD. Not to mention the overheating.
Why would it be garbage? The Legions aren't much better, if at all, in terms of battery life ... But if you found something that works for you, congrats!
If it only had high refresh rate oled, I wouldn't even think about it, i just dont want 60hz after looking so many good options, horrible spakers as well!

Fair point, even tho the location of the USB-A did not really bother me that much during my time with it. I mostly used it for the USB up-stream for connected monitors, which was actually pretty convenvient, having that out ouf sight.

That might be true when you are coming from a 3070 Ti. Just remember that some people also upgrade their much older laptops. And while I agree that value is off this year, the Aero, in particular, isn't such a bad deal.

I know that value is a critical thing right now, since its mostly just not given with the new stuff that comes out. I will watch Jarrods video if you look into our article, we test 3 different 4070s to put things in perspective. I for myself did all my testing without DLSS, so I wasnt even taking it into account.
Thanks for noise samples. I can't believe other reviewers don't bother doing it
No problem! But it is a lot of additional work and time, and sometimes, us reviewers just do not have the time to do all the tests we would like to do!
Thank you for including the button clicks during fan noise comparison. Helps to have something relative to compare it against
Thats what they are there for! :) I think it makes it easier to get a "feel" for fan noise!
@@NotebookcheckReviews ah i see, i wasn't understanding why include the button clicks lol
Thanks for reviewing this one! Can't seem to find any other reviews of the new Aeros yet. Would love if you could do a review for the 14 inch next
You are more than welcome. We will have the smaller Aero 14 in the studio very soon!
Thank you for touching on the video editing timeline performance. For some reason other reviewers don't talk about that much or at all and that is sooooooooooo much more important (imo at least) than export time.
It definitely is, I totally agree! Who cares if an export takes 4 or 5 minutes. When timeline performance is choppy it ruins the whole experience!
big, bright screen and un-gamery aesthetic. I like it. There are some killer 3070/ti deals right now but DLSS 3 is a game changer. Looking forward to more 4000 series laptop coverage. Going to need lots of reviews to pick the right one if I'm going to be forking out that much money!
We are hard at work! Check back at the site regularly too! Today alone we published articles about several 4060s and 4070s!
You realise they could driver patch dlss3 on a 30 series card right?
Slim 5i vs Aero 16 for content creation work? Both 13700H. Whats your pick?
Competent and entertaining as always, thank you. 🙏
You are welcome Damon!
After having used the 680M integrated GPU for games, I'm interested in power efficiency and the 4050-4070's 35W limits. Is it possible to manually limit TDP to 35W, then benchmark games at that power point?
We would love to test that too, but in most machines it is not possible to freely configure TGP limits.
Thank you!
How's your experience been so far? I've seen a lot of bad reviews and I don't know if it's worth buying
Are the problems of Oled screens real? Burn-in, flickering, dead pixels over time?
I would like to know that too
Great review!

That is an very interesting table you got there.
I only just got it and love it already!
and.. what about burn-in? is it a problem?
I owned 2 OLED Laptops so far and never had any problems so far personally.
Gigabyte is using pixel shift as soon as the screen is doing „nothing“ so that should help as well.
@@NotebookcheckReviews how long?
Excellent video as usual! Expecting the review of the Asus tuf A16 Advantage Edition to drop soon ....
Thank you! :)
It arrived yesterday ... I just need to catch up on some sleep and then I will tackle that one ;)
which one would you get the ROG Zephyrus M16 (2023) or GIGABYTE AERO 16 OLED?
Tough choice since they are both very different from one another. Since I am doing as much video editing as gaming, I would probably go with the M16, just because I would need the additional performance!
Which would you say is better this or the MacBook M3?
It really depends on your needs and preferences.
Reasons to consider the AERO 16:
- Much better GPU: if your work related application is GPU-intensive, or if you intend to game at all, it's a no brainer, the difference here is very noticeable (also because of a much larger gaming library of Windows)
- A bit more powerful CPU: That's arguable and hard to compare since they run on different OS, but the i9 here performs better in most applications and benchmarks. Most work-related applications rely more on the CPU. Although I don't know you'll notice the difference in performance from an M3 MacBook.
- Better port selection: especially if you're comparing it to the MacBook Air and not the Pro
- Upgradeability: you can upgrade your storage (with 2 SSD slots) and your RAM down the line.
- You prefer Windows
Reasons to consider the Apple MacBook M3
- Battery life: it's much more energy efficient. As I said, you might not notice the difference in performance on the CPU, but you'll definitely notice the longer battery life of the MacBook.
- Much better speakers: no comparison here, really, MacBooks sound much better
- Better touchpad
- Quieter: if you're considering the MacBook Air that is, I'm not sure the MacBook Pro is quieter than the AERO 16.
- Smaller, thinner, lighter
- You prefer MacOs or the Apple ecosystem
So first things first, do you intend to game on your laptop at all?
For the white keyboard, it is essential to have RGB lighting. Additionally, a full SD card reader is also required.
Manufactures know this, why do you think most (not all) xx60 cards come with bad FHD screens And sometimes lower tier models of laptop?

4:46 does the color "Profile Manager" software work system-wide? Can you tell if it works at the display "hardware" (maybe firmware) level, or the OS level, or only in compatible software?
And even if it works system-wide, can we still use ICC profiles on top of that?

I can not recall any bending. If anything, the lid was quite sturdy compared to some other laptops.

Good idea, I keep it in mind for the next videos. Idle and low-load fan noise was alsmost the same, basically non-existent.

The 4070 seems like a scam looking at stats and performance drop off from 4080
I am not sure that I would call it a scam, given that a 100W 4070 can outperform some 3080 Tis ... but I think we would all have hoped for more.
Well 140W 4070 Mobile laptop reviews so far measure it as being comparable to a 150-175W 3070TI/3080 Mobile.
A 3070ti 150w is 3% slower than a 4070 140w if the games don’t support frame generation, it is a scam 😂
With the Dell XPS17 9710 I can run 4 external 4K monitors @60hz with just 2 TB cables, that wouldn't work with the Aero (despite having 2 TB4 ports) as half of the GPU interfaces are assigned to its video outputs.
where to buy
Check your local retailers!

A Thought :
I could disable the Nvidia and run off the intel gpu while doing audio work.

Lets see .. ;)
@@NotebookcheckReviews
Excellent Notebook!
May I ask how were you able to get a glossy screen model?
Because B&H store advertises all 2023 series as having Matte display.
Does B&H have wrong specs or some sites let you choose between glossy and matte option?
Thunder bold missing
Not really, you actually get two thunderbolt 4 on the right ...
You would be very happy with the 4070 results? its worse than a 3070ti and more expensive, how do you sleep at night 🌙
But if you found something that works for you, congrats!
you made that up.
I love Gigabyte superior made quality
💪🏻
If it only had high refresh rate oled, I wouldn't even think about it, i just dont want 60hz after looking so many good options, horrible spakers as well!
I could live with the speakers, but a higher refresh rate would have been excellent. But I do not think 4k 16" panels are on the market yet.
Well Done! Danke.👍
Sehr gerne 👍
@@NotebookcheckReviews Ich warte auf eine Bewertung für den Mac Mini M2 Please! ❤
Why did they toss the numpad away T.T
Who knows ...
I wish the aeros still had numpads
I am always 50/50 about numpads. I use them when I have them but I prefer the look without them.
This laptop could've been perfect, BUT 60Hz killed it. Should've been at least a 100Hz in this day and age, and considering the GPU it's carrying.
I agree, even though if you consider the target group for this one (creators), you can get away with 60Hz. But yeah, 90 or even 120Hz would have been fantastic!
@@NotebookcheckReviews that’s my point you know, even cell phones are starting to all use 100+ Hz. Even if you don’t game it’s just a huge quality of life upgrade
I like this item
It is a solid notebook option!
The quality of the speakers completely negates all the positive aspects of this laptop. It sounds like $500, not $2,500.
Would that be a dealbreaker for you? Genuinely curious!
@NotebookcheckReviews Definitely, i looking for new laptop with 40 Series, because my job now requers CUDA and x86 cpu. But i'm not ready to downgrade in sound/design/usability/battery from my 10 years old macbook.
Full keyboard and sd reader is a must on 16 inch.
I am personally fine with the keyboard, but yes, I would have wished they would have added a full-size SD-Reader
Only one USB-A port in an incredibly inconvenient location and no full size SD card reader. No thank you...
Fair point, even tho the location of the USB-A did not really bother me that much during my time with it. I mostly used it for the USB up-stream for connected monitors, which was actually pretty convenvient, having that out ouf sight.
Compare PS5 is a oldschool Calculator
Well, those are two very different devices with very, very different use-cases.
8gb vram is too low for 4k gaming
Depends on the title
No number pad
Very well observed, good sir!
There are some people who hate numpad on their devices like myself
It's only 60hz
Yes it is!
60hz screen in 2023 is a hard pass for me - id rather wait for the asus vivobook 16x pro (120h oled in the very same 16:10 ratio)
you are not hitting 120frames at 4k anyways
who is buying these expensive machines, the price is insane.
The Aero 16 isn't far from its predecessor when it launched last year. But yes, it is expensive, but I won't say it's as overpriced as some other RTX 4000 laptops we have seen so far!
Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra is a better machine then this in all due respect. I am using one right now, love this thing!
Did you have the chance to test the Aero 16 too? What do you like more about the Galaxy Book?
@@NotebookcheckReviews I have not used the Aero, but watching this video made me come to that conclusion that I believe the Samsung is a better machine. The fan noise is no where near as loud as the Aero, and the heat as well. Performance wise they are likely similar, both thin and sexy machines. I do like how the aero looks over the Samsung but fan noise and heat is a big deal for me.
4070 is actually less powerful than a 3070ti without dlss3
Its actually not, you can check our analysis article, and you will see that this is simply not true:
www.notebookcheck.net/GeForce-RTX-4070-4060-4050-Laptop-Analysis-Nvidia-s-new-Mainstream-Laptop-GPUs-in-Review.696414.0.html
@@NotebookcheckReviews Isn't that because you use low wattage 3070ti also. Its timespy and benchmark seem in line with a 150 w 3070ti. Also curious about what you think about Jarrod's Tech review on the 4070. Why a higher tdp 4070 seems to be performing worse in his tests compared to yours.
@NotebookcheckReviews I'm sorry but you are simply wrong they are the same or worse with equal wattage the 4070 actually has less cuda cores, and its just not good value, you need to consider its cost and it performs poorly relative to previous generation parity card 2070 to 3070 was a 15-20% improvement this is simply not the case for 3070 to 4070 and you should know this, very poor.
@Uday sick of this B@llshit optimistic reporting on nvidia and intel laptops if its a sales paid ad fine just say it otherwise your reporting is just wrong..
If you compare a 120watt 3070ti which is cheaper its the same or better than this 4070 in your review this is the simple problem here which makes the 4070 a huge disappointment if the 4070 was the same price it would be disappointing but not a scam, its not the same price
No creator focused if it doesn't even have a full size SD card slot I mean shit even apple has a full SD card slot now. There's no excuses
I dont like these either, I must admit. If there is no place for a full-size reader just add another USB A/C
- Alex
just 4070 is too far away from 4080
Unfortunately it is
Constantly overheating crap. Single contour cooling system, no ability to switch off the OC, as most of the BIOS settings are locked. No buy POS. Oh! Almost forgot. Crappy software and nonexistent support included)
NO THANK YOU
OK
Terrible value, should be avoided unless on a steep discount. 4070 is garbage gen over gen vs 3070ti
That might be true when you are coming from a 3070 Ti. Just remember that some people also upgrade their much older laptops.
And while I agree that value is off this year, the Aero, in particular, isn't such a bad deal.
Would you take this over the Zephyrus M16 4080 with the Mini LED screen?
Uff, that is a callous question. I prefer the Aero's chassis and, actually, the OLED. Then again, a 4080 is lovely, and so is having a faster screen than 60 Hz.
Please do not make me choose. That is just cruel!
@@NotebookcheckReviews I only ask because my Asus M16 RTX 4080 arrives today, & it cost me an eye watering £3,300.
& I'm unsure whether I made the right choice, & whether I should have looked at more 4070 machines first, becase the Aero is "only" £2400 for the same CPU, but a 4070 & oled.
The 60hz is a big problem though, I think that's a deal breaker in 2023.
@@WildfireX given the 4070 doesn't perform any better than the 3070 Ti, you can get the previous Gigabyte Aero 16 with the same OLED display for as little as $1299 in the US. As much as I hate the port selection, I couldn't stomach paying nearly 2X as much for a few more USB A ports for otherwise nearly identical hardware.
@@RyneLanders 60hz is definitely a letdown for me too
Your youtube channel never had the attention it deserved. Instead of lengthy review videos of selected units you could post thematic videos of every model you review. I'd be interested for a perspective purchase to be able to see a short video of the laptop screen, typing on its keyboard, keyboard flexing stability, keyboard backlight, a short video even 2-3 seconds of the camera quality. You should do it for every model you test. From trashy 300 euro priced units to 7.000 euro overpriced ones.
Thank you!
We are still experimenting with video formats and how to elevate our content on youtube and the site.
We will not be able to get every device from the website in the video studio, but we aim to have videos for almost all devices.
The 4070 will go down in history as the biggest gpu scam don't buy this expensive garbage
Both the laptop and desktop variants are absolute trash. This is scummy from nvidia.
@fidelis itor agreed the 4080 is the new 4070 but vastly more expensive nvidia are taking the piss and RUclips channels tllike this are playing their game
Just because we do not have your opinion or go out and put clickbaity titles in our youtube videos doesn't mean anyone pays us.
Is there no way we can have a constructive discussion without it getting this heated?
We are putting our thoughts out there based on our testing, our interpretation of those tests and based on our database. That is the best we can offer.
If you have a different opinion based on the available data, you are more than welcome to share it so we can discuss it. That is what we are here for.
But it really shouldn't be that "emotional."
I am about to answer your comment on the 4070 discussion, so please share your point of view on it once I post.
But please keep in mind there are real people behind the scenes that put a lot of work into getting you guys these reviews, so let us keep it civilized! :)
@NotebookcheckReviews please consider the value proposition. And differentiate yourself look at jarrodtech for and example to see how the 4070 performs, your reviews are good but this is a special time now and nvidia has behaved very badly, price gouging their customers, with deceptive claims drawing false comparisons only comparing with dlss3 its not a fair comparison and perhaps false advertising in Europe. So something to consider.
I know that value is a critical thing right now, since its mostly just not given with the new stuff that comes out.
I will watch Jarrods video if you look into our article, we test 3 different 4070s to put things in perspective.
I for myself did all my testing without DLSS, so I wasnt even taking it into account.
