Plymouth City Bus Route 21 and 21a.

Route 21/a runs from Barn Barton, St Budeaux via Devonport, Royal Parade (Plymouth city Centre), Cattedown, Marsh Mills, Plympton and Chaddlewood. This video is from Camels Head via HMS Drake to the City Centre, part of the old route 26. +++ Camera = Canon Powershot SX20is. (March 2010)

Agree that this video will be a part of history soon! I left Plymouth in 1974, and films like this keep me in touch with a city that is constantly evolving.. I used to live behind the Golden Hind and remember the Manadon roundabout before the major link road, especially the 'blind mans wood area and Farleys factory beyond (hint). A valuable resource keep posting don't forget the soundtrack.

I lived in Plymouth many years ago, I thought that the 21 Bus route went to Mutley, turned east to Laira, Marsh Mills, Woodford, then Plympton? I always got off at St. Mary's church, walked along Market road, passing my old primary school on the right, up the hill to Underwood road where I lived when I was a kid. Happy Days!

I think I will start by apologising to you.My first thought was who was sad enough to film a bus route ? however this will become a great piece of social history. when people look at this in the future they will look ay how the city has changed and the cars and people in the video. Already the flats at Granby Green have gone , housing has now been built next to the cricket pitch at the Cumberland Gardens and a new building has sprung up next to Aldi in Union Street. Starting in the 90's, we started taking groups of American military folks and families to Plymouth for our Thanksgiving holidays. We were hosted on a few occasions by the Lord Mayor and one year, at the Mayflower steps, they read the greeting to us and the people of Plymouth from Pres. Obama. We regularly stayed at the old Astor residence which I understand is now being used for university housing. I loved Plymouth and miss strolling around the entire city taking in the vista views from up above the harbor. I only used the public transport once, but enjoyed THIS bus ride.
