  • Down the country here we are again, and we're down in Britain's ocean city located in Devon but bordering Cornwall: Plymouth!
Route 25 is Plymouth's open topper city sightseeing bus. It is branded as the "Ocean City Sights" route, operated by Plymouth Citybus and is a circular route serving Royal Parade, The Barbican, Hoe Park, Millbay Marina and Royal Parade.
My opinion: 10/10. One of the best urban city routes I've ever filmed in the UK. A must do if you visit Plymouth with great variety of architecture, lovely views (you even get to see Cornwall!) and great places!

That's definitely lovely indeed - lots of scenic bus routes and great places nearby! Let's also not forget the Dartmoor National Park also nearby!
However, I'm not keen on the city itself tbh, most of the city centre is built with post war brutalist 60s-70s of which I'm not the biggest fan of

Is it possible to catch a bus from one side of this six lane road to the other...otherwise there seems to be no way
of crossing - just fenced off?

Yes, there's a pedestrian crossing half way down Royal Parade

      "CITY OF PLYMOUTH
      Subject: Royal Parade Crossing Review
      Committee: Cabinet
      Date: 23 August 2011
      Executive Summary:
The Royal Parade Armada Way pedestrian crossing was installed in 2004 to replace an existing
underpass. Despite the presence of a grade separated crossing, and central barriers, pedestrian
and vehicle collisions were evident at that time, and the central surface level crossing formed a
package of measures intended to improve safety and pedestrian accessibility across the city
centre as a whole. It caters for approximately 15,000 to 20,000 pedestrian movements a day.
Collision statistics since the crossing was installed have shown a marked and continuing decline
in casualties. However, on the 26th February 2010 there was a fatal collision between a female
pedestrian and a Heavy goods Vehicle. In the subsequent court hearing, Judge Francis Gilbert
branded the crossing the crossing, based upon his own experience of using it, as “very
      hazardous”. "
Only one, hazardous , crossing for such a long six lane road right in the centre of the city?
You see where the city councils' priorities are in the use of the expression "collision" for the killing of a woman ( who is called a 'female', by the council) by an HGV vehicle.
Imagine thinking a woman could 'collide" with a large vehicle!!! Incredible callous "thinking". It's like saying that a woman 'collided' with a bullet.Reveals the intellectual calibre of Plymouth City Council members
      Some questions : What is
      a) a six lane highway doing in the heart of a city?
      b) allowing HGV vehicles do barrel along it?
When I was young and fit and lived in Plymouth Royal Parade was a horrible place to cross even then...even for a fit youngster and even though there was an underpass.
This same council, which removed the underpass, has now cut down a hundred of the few remaining mature trees in the centre because they 'get in the way'....
