The moment when you jump from the roof and your wings just disappear in the moment you touch the ground .. happens to me every weekend at least twice. I miss my wings :(
I'm a big fan of the effect we created today, and had a couple hundred people asking about updesk/standing while working on twitter and facebook. 90% of the time the viewers dictate the show, we do topics that have been getting the most requests. There is no lack of capable ideas, ideas are endless.
Not even fucking. 333 CPF but mainly PM and PA, L and P, much happy, much friend, much carefull, clothes, long and beautiful hair the year of the future DC.
The most impressive part of this is the colour grading / almost HDR look! May i ask what you filmed this with & how to get that super sweet high dynamic range?
No worries. I don't mind hearing that people don't like this or that, it is actually helpful. It just wasn't a lack of effort or laziness. haha. If you ever have constructive criticism for the show, please feel free to post. It's always welcome and helps make a better show. Thanks man!
Wow, thanks a lot mate. As a graphics designer/web designer/musician/filmmaker I find this tip incredibly useful. Also, here's a tip of my own: Put everything you will ever need on your desk. (Rulers, scissors, x-acto, compass, pens, pencils, water, etc.) It will triple your productivity since you don't have to go anywhere to get that thing you need to continue working. Sounds obvious but you'll be surprised to see how many of us don't do that.
Um, Ryan? I think the sun is wrong on the face of the jumper :) If you are facing each other, then the sun should come from opposite directions... right?
Ryan, glad to see you went with the adjustable desk. Standing all day can have detrimental effects on your feet, ankles, knees, and hips. My physical therapist said they're currently recommending people stand 3 hours, sit 1, rinse and repeat.
It's not another show. It will be small tuts that go deeper into topics from Film Riot Thursdays. It will be every now and again, not a scheduled thing.
Nope. I added it because of all the interest I got on twitter and FB. If I am ever sponsored by a product, I always say so in the show. But even then, I am very picky about who sponsors us, and only talk good about things I actually like and use. UpDesk is not a sponsor, just a product that I really love.
Hey Ryan! My friends and I are going to make a Green Arrow short film and we are wondering how you would safely film the hero shooting someone throught the chest with a bow and arrow. Are you up for the challenge? P.S. I don't want to do this in after effects.
I would want that too! Also, it would be great if it were done with a swish pan like the "knife someone in the effing face" episode! I will email him about it! You could attatch the arrow to a belt. check out the BFX Indy mogul spear impale effect to do it with belts and a stick! i love film riot but indy moguls episode on that is great!!
I absolutely loved the quick cutaway to the scene in your office (8:20) where you put together your 'temporary' stand up desk. I watched that scene several times and cracked up each time. Thanks for the laugh.
The UpDesk is a great idea. At my job where peeps are going to be standing all day there are cushion mats on the floor to stand on. Makes a huge difference over standing on a hard surface.
I love you... Seriously... Let's be best friends forever! ...I think it is just because people love to be the ones to find a mistake. It's normal. I knew about it before we posted it, just didn't have enough time to make the fix.
Good idea of the up desk! I agree with that it helps to have a better desk! Love all your episodes especially showing how to do effects using sketches of your own! So hilarous and great!
I did notice one thing that was wrong. When you took your first shot of Josh throwing himself up in the air from the push-up position, we wasn't wearing his sleeves, which made it look like they magically disappeared when he came close to the ground, but I do really like the effect.
The shirts on Josh's arms disappeared when he hit the ground, but all that matters is that you guys showed us how to do the effect. Keep up the good work! :)
Your guys' cinematography is getting much better. You're using a lot more long shots, and the color correcting isn't nearly as excessive as your older stuff.
I have been watching your episodes now, back to back for almost two days straight! Lol and this is probably the first time I actually noticed the a continuity error! Lol keep up the great work though!
Ry, apart from the shirt thing, what didn't sell this affect was the lack of Josh's shadow on the house. He has a shadow on the blue screen, but it got keyed out. I think in real life there would be a shadow on the house as he fell.
Now to take it to the next level, you need to combine your updesk with a treadmill or stationary bike! Then you can exercise, too, while working at your desk. I've seen both setups in different offices. I haven't tried it myself, but people seem to like it.
Totally pro lighting and camerawork. I really liked the little dance you guys did when you were testing the "up table". The one thing I didn't like was how long I had to wait for the guy to jump. Mainly because I didn't appreciate some of the acting. Sorry guys.
this is why i like this show. I never thought of standing up while on the cpu haha. thanks for sharing im definitely going to look into that because i hate the unhealthy feeling i get from sitting at the cpu for even 30 mins. thanks dawg!!! btw lol at the desk going up face
The thing that makes it unbelievable is that there is no acceleration from the top of the roof to the floor. Josh just falls at the same speed the whole time. I know it would be hard to match, but that's what I noticed.
Another freaking amazing episode guys. You probably answer this a TON but what camera did you use for the short film at the start, and what lenses? Amazing work!
hey film riot you made a mistake by the falling not speeding up in the same gradual increase that objects do in gravity. Maybe next time throw a stone or something up in the air. so it reaches the top (apoapsis) the same location as the person would. then move the body downwards the same amount as the stone falls. then you should get the right speed.
Found the information about stand up desks interesting! I normally spend 10-15 hours a day sitting at the computer, ended up having a pulmonary embollism, took 6 months to recuperate!...Think i will have to check out this standing up desk in more depth! :)
The moment when you jump from the roof and your wings just disappear in the moment you touch the ground .. happens to me every weekend at least twice. I miss my wings :(
Drink some red bull. That should do the trick.
+Tyrell Williams Yeah you're right, but now i can't stop flying, i guess there is just no perfect way of mankind flying :/
imagine the same thing but with parachute

was it just me or did anyone else notice that when he landed the shirts on his arms disapere
+NanoCellMusic PFF CONTINUITY
I thought I was the only one.
lol. right
NanoCellMusic I saw that too!! lol 😁
Illuminati confirmed
They aren't jump cuts, they are called 'Cutaways'. A jump cut is something totally different, in which a slight change is made on the same subject.
33 people love this video so much they turned their screen upside down so they can like it for the second time
Not even fucking.
333 CPF but mainly PM and PA, L and P, much happy, much friend, much carefull, clothes, long and beautiful hair the year of the future DC.
Thanks! It's always awesome to hear that!
Am I the only one that see's the settings is old on this video?
+swagmarcforever Same, I don't know why...
Shrey Pandya Ikr lol it is annoying.
+swagmarcforever ikr
+swagmarcforever I do as well
+swagmarcforever why is that?
We definitely do. There will be more segments like this in the future for sure.
The most impressive part of this is the colour grading / almost HDR look!

there is a way to do this without editing but it is also more expensive since funeral usually cost $7000
oh- oh dear
Awesome! Glad to hear your giving it a shot.
heads up, Josh didn't have the 2 t-shirts on his arms when he hit the ground
Totally agree. I fluctuate between sitting and standing.
When Josh hits the ground, his "wings" disappears...
I know, right!
I know!
Ikr I think they needed to check their continuity
That is the one thing that keeps standing out to me

haha the sound when he hit down
irk its pathetic
Very happy you did sir! We've already got some good suggestions, so we will probably do another like it soon. :)
Did someone noticed that the tshirt that he had on his hand disapeared when he landed
I like the idea of the film makers life. Like you I'm at the desk for more than 6 hours a day and the idea of the standing desk is a good one.
Um, Ryan? I think the sun is wrong on the face of the jumper :)
If you are facing each other, then the sun should come from opposite directions... right?
Glad you liked it! :)
His wings went when he hit the floor
Looked great man! Loved it. Very well done.
Whoes here because of recent ep

how do you fall to your death if you don't die
CorrosiveShock EXACTLY
scam my little sister died

Anyone else notice the Toy Story reference at 2:03
was about to comment ^^
Glad you liked it. :)
the two shirts are not there when he hits the floor!

What happen to the wings on his arm when he landed
Totally agree.

Is it up? I wanna see it. (the film)
Josh your acting keeps getting better and better, i was impressed.
the shirts disappeared at the end
I absolutely loved the quick cutaway to the scene in your office (8:20) where you put together your 'temporary' stand up desk. I watched that scene several times and cracked up each time. Thanks for the laugh.
*hugs* *rubs back in creepy way* *Then whispers* "Glad you liked it".
Love your channel, great energy, well put together! I'm glued to the screen and ready to put the tutorials to practice. Thanks!
1,000,000 Film Riot points awarded to you!
I love the humour in your guys' vids. Love how the demo vid links to the last one on walking through a wall too :D
I still think this is the best fall that film riot has done so far
The UpDesk is a great idea. At my job where peeps are going to be standing all day there are cushion mats on the floor to stand on. Makes a huge difference over standing on a hard surface.
That is awesome Ryan! I have a stand-up desk at my work. Definitely makes me feel more productive. Great suggestion!
I love you... Seriously... Let's be best friends forever! ...I think it is just because people love to be the ones to find a mistake. It's normal. I knew about it before we posted it, just didn't have enough time to make the fix.
I'd definitely at least try it out. It's worth a go.
Good idea of the up desk! I agree with that it helps to have a better desk! Love all your episodes especially showing how to do effects using sketches of your own! So hilarous and great!

Super job guys! Thanks for the very useful info. BTW, Josh lost his wings when he fell.
Loved the sequence on the UpDesk. Definitely keep doing segments like that.
THANK YOU for making filmriot extras! I could use a companion like that
hands down best show on youtube
Your guys' cinematography is getting much better.
You're using a lot more long shots, and the color correcting isn't nearly as excessive as your older stuff.
Gettin' out health on playa!
I'm really glad you make your health a top priority. What would FilmRiot be without you...
And you are awesome! Bammie Wham!
I'm totally getting one of those desks! x
I have been watching your episodes now, back to back for almost two days straight! Lol and this is probably the first time I actually noticed the a continuity error! Lol keep up the great work though!
I must say, this is the first time I have ever subscribed to a channel with no videos
Ry, apart from the shirt thing, what didn't sell this affect was the lack of Josh's shadow on the house. He has a shadow on the blue screen, but it got keyed out. I think in real life there would be a shadow on the house as he fell.
FilmRiot my favorite Channel of the moment
I'm like 17 years old, and i think you save 30 years of my life saying that thing about the updesk!
9:12 best film riot joke ever lmao TOTTALLY loved it! xD
What if I randomly made this dramatically slow
The closer these episodes get to Film Riot Mondays, the better. Change it up all you want, Ry!
One of the best episodes.
Little effort? Tell that to my lack of sleep... Thanks for the comment though. ;)
im extremely proud to call myself a filmriot veteran! FilmRiot for life!
Awesome fall. Was surprised to find out it wasn't hard at all. Definitely going to use this in our future videos. Thanks Film Riot!
I've been waiting for this all day!!!
Now to take it to the next level, you need to combine your updesk with a treadmill or stationary bike! Then you can exercise, too, while working at your desk.
I've seen both setups in different offices. I haven't tried it myself, but people seem to like it.
One of the funniest filmriot episodes ever !
Amaizing stuff. I appreciate the information you have provided me. Thank you. It inspires me.
I'm learning stuff and having fun. You guys have inspired me alot!
God damn, I am still laughing from where Ryan set up a temporary desk with burno holding the mouse. Got me good on that one.
I just found this channel on RUclips recommends.Yeay, this channel is awesome, subscribed!!!
OMG! ANOTHER CHANNEL! MORE FILMROIT!! You read my mind!
Love the hydraulics desk dance and very last 15 sec. Great episode.
This is awesome! This will definitely help me out with my other movies in the future! Thanks Film Riot!
Totally pro lighting and camerawork. I really liked the little dance you guys did when you were testing the "up table". The one thing I didn't like was how long I had to wait for the guy to jump. Mainly because I didn't appreciate some of the acting. Sorry guys.
Great episode! Always great info.
Hi xais, I can get the lesson video in this video tomorrow or today @Filmriot

Dear FilmRiot, you make me smile :)
There was no ADR in this episode.
Who else was watching this on their computer and watched the rest of the video standing up?? Ryan Connolly ... saving lives.. one view at a time.. ;D
I remember that old episode! Filmriot 4 ever
Found the information about stand up desks interesting! I normally spend 10-15 hours a day sitting at the computer, ended up having a pulmonary embollism, took 6 months to recuperate!...Think i will have to check out this standing up desk in more depth! :)
Soooo well done! I love this channel :)
Thanks for the research and info for stand up desk! I'll look for something like this!
If it was a mistake it would be considered a continuity error not a plot hole. But it was a joke.
Extremly loved your work ... superb and really veru much helpful tutorial
I really like this show. Great job.
Yeah we know. The price of shooting fast and out of order.
Only 720p from a channel like this? Great video as always.
