I own a few headphones. I have the Momentum 4, both of Sony’s XM4 and XM5 headphones, the xm5 earbuds and soundcore’s Q45 headphones. They all have their pros and cons and you can’t really go too wrong with any of them. In my experience, The M4’s have been amazing and are my daily drivers at home for music because the sound quality is unmatched, the battery life is insane and to me they feel the most comfortable. The XM5 is used only for travelling. I fly more that 15 times a year and these have been wonderful so far. They are very light with an almost non-existent clamping force, however they make my ears hot and sweaty after about 2 hours. The ANC on the xm5 is the best I’ve ever experienced on any headphone. The sound isn’t as opened and crystal clear as the M4 but it’s acceptable and less fatiguing than the momentum 4 after long listening sessions. My previously loved XM4 now belongs to my wife and sound very similar to the xm5 in my opinion but the comfort and ANC is similar to the momentum 4. I prefer the xm4 over the xm5 especially for travelling due to it’s compactness and the ability to fold into a smaller case. The soundcore space Q45’s comfort and soundstage is surprisingly very good at the price point. The ANC isn’t as great though and they look massive on my head. I never use them in public for this reason. Although slightly larger in size, It also folds and is as compact as the xm4. I just don’t see myself using it on flights due to it’s bulky earcups. I haven’t owned any of Bose’s products yet but I’m considering giving the ultras a shot before I fly again next week, only because of the ANC capabilities. I’ll be very surprised if they surpass my xm5 in that category. I doubt any other headphone in this price range would sound better than the momentum 4. It’s just too good in that department. To me that’s what matters the most. Sound quality is what headphones were made for.
Thanks that was informative, although i've just returned my Sony xm4 because sound quality was very dissapointing. Muddy, flat, boring, my old twice cheaper audio technica bluetooth sounds better or at least the same
@@BBYbakathe M4’s noise cancelling is average and not on par with the XM5’s. You can literally hear a noticeable difference when you use them one after the other. The battery life and audio quality on the M4 is significantly better than both the Sony and the Bose.
Would love to hear your impressions of the XM5 running on Wavelet`s Harman-profile (tuned for true neutrality) for those headphones. The profile for WH1000-XM5 can be searched for within the Wavelet-app among hundreds of other models and then loaded in as a new baseline tuning. Just remember to default the Sony Headphone-app`s EQ to get a true result from the new Wavelet Harman-profile for XM5. There`s a separate EQ-menu within Wavelet to add your own EQ on top of the Harman-profile. I found this solution superior to any RUclips EQ-suggestions for the Sony Headphone-app EQ.
Great comparison!! You can also use the Momentum 4 (powered on) while they are charging. They really are superb for both battery life and sound quality in my opinion.
Great video and great comparative analysis. I have the Momentum 4 and love them. They are comfortable, sound great, great ANC and the battery lasts forever.
As someone who cares about sound quality - Momentum4 is a great buy. They sound surprisingly good when comparing them to my open back wired headphones. I used to have Sony XM3s and tried QC35s. From memory - both of those sound so much worse compared to Momentum4. To me Momentum4 sounds like a good closed back headphone, while all other ANC headphones under 400 sound like a cheap headphone, but with a lot of features added to them to justify the price. In momentum4 I can still enjoy music, while with other ANC headphones that I tried - they can play music, but it’s not enjoyable.
It is exactly what I think. The M4 is so enjoyable and fun to listen, yes about ANC some are better, but sound quality should be a priority I think and the ANC of the M4 is still good enough. Plus the battery, the fact that it on / off automaticaly, the quality of the case etc ... at their price, it is impossible to find a high end headphone (because the M4 is high end quality) with a better quality / price ratio.
yeah the Bose do lack both depth and detail compared to Sennheiser but they do offer a good well rounded package if you're not an audiophile. Bose is better for average person and Sennheiser is better for Audiophiles but there aren't that many Audiophiles which is why Bose kills Sennheiser in sales. Basically Sennheiser failed to adopt to market shift and Bose capitalized on Sennheiser's mistake.
@@g1981c I guess it is also marketing, Bose is more "famous", lot of peoples know the brand, Sennheiser is more "niche". But for me it is way better about sound quality, no doubt about that. The only point where the Bose is very better is noise cancelling (pretty impressive on this), the M4 is just "good" for that.
Nah I'm that rare guy who uses my phones for podcast and learning videos off yt (not a music person) so Bose and the anc is the best over sound quality for me.
I one month ago I had hard time to choose between the Bose, M4, Xm5 and PX7 s2, so I tried both. For me it is pretty easy : the Bose is better for anc (the M4 is good, but the Bose is the best in this category, even better than the XM5 for me) and the confort is a bit better than the M4, but the M4 is still pretty comfortable. For all other points, the M4 is way better for me, especially in sound quality, the M4 is superb. Build quality is better to. The sound of the M4 is so enjoyable, I tried the four headphones with songs I know the most, and the M4 is the headphone where I heard more details, all is clear, precise, it is so nice. The PX7 s2 is very good to, but more "analytics", less "fun". the Sony and bose are not close in sound quality. I ended buying the M4 and I am so happy with it. Oh and I forget, the battery of the M4 wow, they announce 60h and I think it is nearly real, it seems to last forever. So in my opinion if you love music and want sound quality, get the M4, if ANC is your priority, get the Bose (but in my opinion wait a bit because the price is really to high for what it offer).
Glad I read your comment. I’ve been going back and fourth between xm5 and m4. Brother has Bose but I felt the sound wasn’t as good as my xm4 earbuds. I think I’m going M4
@@juanvigil9145 well it is simple : the only thing the XM5 is better (a lot better I have to admit) is the Anc, but for all the rest M4 is really better, especially about sound quality, the M4 destroy the XM5 on this category. Plus, you can fin the M4 around 240€, it is an awesome bargain.
@@D.TH.87 I paid it 220 € in sales, so for me it was pretty good price when you see Sony and Bose prices. I can't imagine a better headphone for the price, and know I also want to buy the momentum 4 true wireless earbuds.
I've been back and forth on these two headphones as both are currently on sale and I want to pick up a pair as a gift. This review is the best I've come across. Really appreciate this.
I listened to the ultra today and immersive mode is impressive… however 18 hours battery is a deal breaker, as is no passive audio. No reason for passive listening not to be there, especially when there’s a 3.5 jack. Have the Senns and they simply sound amazing with no frills while lasting forever between charges. And while passive audio sounds crap straight away…you can eq it with a good parametric equalizer for a decent wired experience also
The mic test on the momentum 4 is not accurate in this video. I've been to a loud coffee shop and no one I was on the phone with ever complained about the noise whereas in this video the coffee shop noise test kills the momentum 4.
anything u can do to stop this issue ? :'( mine comes friday et hope doesn't have this problem.. i will put the case everyday in a backpack so hope this would be okay..
My Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra headphones arrived a couple of days ago and are going straight back. The ANC is not as great as nearly every reviewer states, my old QCIIs are far superior. But the biggest issue with the Ultras is the popping noise in the right ear-cup when traveling on public transport. I found this channel looking for reviews for the Sennheiser which I'm tempted to try out.
@@BadBeardDude I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the popping in the right ear cup. At least I haven't seen it yet. ANC isn't that important to me. When I listen to music or a podcast, I don't hear anything else anyway .
the popping was the last straw for me, and i decided to return them. it literally hurts my ears and it feels like my eardrums are exploding lmao. alongside the popping issue, the QC ultras are way too buggy for a headset at that price range. so i’m considering between the XM5s and Momentum 4s right now
I have them.both and Bose sounds better, to my taste. Fulsome, better judged sound and clarity. M4 somehow sounds tinier. the bass is also better with Bose, more articulate and hearable without masking the midrange. And that's in normal mode, no EQ applied. One very important aspect, actually two: 1. Bose sounds amazingly good even at low volume, maintaining clarity and bass . Also not requiring to push the volume up in noisy environments 2. Somehow they managed to maintain same clarity and punch in Awareness mode without needing to pump up the volume QC are to me endlessly listenable. M4 are good bit I can't love them. Battery life is indeed great on M4 but assuming you're all urban animals and not living off the grid my take is that you will do fine charging them once or twice a week. Price for having longer battery life is the size and weight. M4 cups are huge. Like them but don't love them
Im dissapointed by all the ANC. In the beginning I always checked if the anc is really on because I expected way more after the hype. But yes your right.
Simple Choice and 3 reasons why. 1) MDAQS The Multi-Dimensional Audio Quality Score results indicates BOSE Quiet Comfort Ultra is much better than the SONY WH-1000XM5. 2) Sony XM5 release date May 2022 MSRP $399.99 and Bose QC Ultra release date October 2023 MSRP $429. aka release date (age) and original pricing. 3) 2024 Holiday sale XM5 $299 and QC Ultra $329 both dropping $100. affordability as Sony XM5 should be discounted more because it is a year older than Bose QC Ultra. On the other hand, the best audio/sounding BT headphones are the Sennheiser Momentum 4 release date August 2022 MSRP $349 and now on sale for $229 as $120 less. The Momentum 4 MDAQS rating is about equal to the Bose QC Ultra. Another thing: Momentum 4 just sounds better than Bose or Sony probably because of the 42mm dynamic drivers. The best affordable Bluetooth headphone which cost less of the 3 is Momentum 4. The quality is better than the Sony XM5 and just a small notch below the Bose QC Ultra.
So if I’m addicted to the music like dubstep, electro swing and metal (I prefer instrumental more than vocals) and I want the best sound quality I can get Sennheiser is the best option? I also heard that the max volume of M4s is not that high, is it true?
Hey there! Great job, thanks for your videos! Could you tell me please which one of them more suits for audiobooks and podcasts, I mean with which of them voices are more natural and pleasant? Actually I already got Bose qs ultra and find them quite good for listening audiobooks but I still can change them if Sennheisers make the job with voices better than Bose. Thanks in advance!
From researching, the Bose QC Ultras do better in mids (voices) than the Sennheiser Momentum 4’s so you made the right choice! Also it seems that Bose are more comfy and lighter so it would most definitely make it the better choice for audiobooks and podcasts!
Holy cow I didn't know I needed your content!! I need a XXXL motorcycle helmet or bigger (depending on brand) and have used stuff NOT big-head approved in the past that I have just thrown away. Thank you!
I have the Bose QuietComfort Ultra and just ordered the Sennheiser Momentum 4 due to an incredible sale! The QCU are incredible headphones and I love them! From this review, I'm thinking they are quite comparable. I don't plan on replacing my QCUs with these, but I am definitely going to keep them as a backup for when the QCUs give out on me. I honestly would have bought the Momentum 4s at first because the styling, at least to me, is so much better, especially the copper black variant, but much like the Seenheisers, I got the QCUs while they were on an incredible sale, I actually ended up paying the same price for both headphones, around $315. But what really matters is the sound quality and, since it seems like I'm not being short-changed in that field, it was a good purchase! Is there anything major that isn't covered in this video I should be looking out for in terms of differences?
Totally agree 😢 My purchase of Bose QU left me feeling dissatisfied with its music quality, which led me to buy M4 later. I wish I could have bought M4 sooner.
@@AlanKur-p5gI do actually have an update! After getting the Momentum 4s, I was so blown away, I actually returned my QC Ultras. That is nothing against them, they were great headphones, but these Sennies absolutely blew my mind! The sound quality is a little better in my opinion, I'm a person that likes bass and not only do the 4s have great bass out of the box, the bass boost equalizer setting makes them 👌👌👌 just that much better! I mainly listen to punk rock, pop punk, post hardcore, alternative rock, and pop, and that extra bass boost makes those songs come alive. Any genre that relies on base, like hip hop, rap, EDM, etc, absolutely soars, so much so, I started looking into that kind of music for the first time in my life after I got the 4s just because they make bass sound so good! Music sounds way wider with them, if that makes sense, which is why I don't mind the lack of a spatial audio feature. They are also really comfortable on the head, although they are a little more firm fitting in the headband area when compared to the QC Ultras, but that's a good thing in my case because I wear them at work in a factory, I want them to stay on my head. The actual pads on the 4s are just as comfortable, they're a tidbit firmer though. I don't mind the lack of metal in the build quality because what Sennheiser did is top-notch, they are 100% premium feeling. And the battery life, OH MY GOD, IT'S PHENOMENAL. I made sure they were fully charged out of the box and then brought them to work the next day. I ended up not having to charge them FOR A WEEK AND A HALF and I work 40 hours a week in a factory. The noise canceling isn't quite as good, but the difference is not too noticeable to me. Even with the top-notch noise canceling on the QC Ultras, I'm still able to hear things at my job because, well, I've already explained it twice. Lol I have never had any issues with the touch controls, although I hear some people do, but that would be a no point for me anyway because I buy headphones for the sound quality and comfort, not extra features like touch controls. Lastly, there's the price point, in the process of switching from the QC Ultras to the 4s, I gained $80. There is no question in my mind that the Sennheiser Momentum 4s are by far the best over ear headphones I have ever bought and I would highly recommend them! At full price, they're worth it, but fortunately, they are always on sale, for example, they are currently $230 at most stores and for that price, you would be dumb to grab any other pair of headphones! If your priority is comfort and noise canceling, then it may be worth the extra money to get the Bose because their noise canceling just can't be beat. But I fully believe if you are a person who cares about the way your music sounds, the Sennheiser Momentum 4s, for their price, cannot be beat. Oh, and one more thing, the feature that turns them on and off when you pull them out of the case is a little bit annoying, sometimes they will turn on by themselves in the case, but that can be solved by putting them in the other way. Sorry for basically riding a whole review here, when I'm excited about something, I tend to ramble. 😅
@@pustulioyothanks for such a great review! definitely swaying more towards the m4s now. the only thing is the turning on by itself inside the case part. does that really mean the only way is to put inside a bag horizontally? really sad news for travelling with like a handbag/smaller bag😢
Thank you for the excellent review. I have he Bose QC Ultra. One major disappointment is the inability to save the EQ settings for different type of music. It's strange such a basic feature is not available in the app. With the Momentum 4 you can save your customized EQ presets. Moreover the Momentum 4 has 5 EQ sliders versus 3 on the Bose QC ultra although this is less important than the ability to save your settings.
There's a lot written online about connectivity issues with the Momentum 4s (as in, not pairing at all with devices or being very hard to pair). Have you found this to be the case?
It has been fixed with new software updates, I went to a showroom where they had multiple momentum 4's. The ones with older software would have connectivity issues while a pair with up-to-date software was working fine
@@jexxy1806Hello, is there a fix to this as of today or have you found a way around it to stop it from doing so? I want to purchase these because the sound quality seems to be the best and the battery life also seems super long, need these for school.
@@antonioishere4201I haven't had this issue until recently after having owned them for over a year. It has gotten to the point where the app can't even install the software update. Such a shame that they can only be updated wirelessly. They are effectively bricked.
Bose QC Ultra have connectivity issues when paired to more than one device. You have to reset BT all the time if paired with more than one device. I like QC Ultra for an artificial even sound but my ears get very warm compared to Momentum 4. The M4 have Auto-reconnect and able to switch from one source to another with ease, the QC Ultra have to mess with to reconnect and there is a long Delay. One of the things you must do to make Momentum 4 sound better is Customize the Equalizer. Also, not recommended to wear M4's outdoors. The M4's do have a BT range from 30 feet up to 80 feet (25 meters) without disconnecting depending on number of obstacles or barriers it encounters. I have been testing and reviewing the QC ultra and Sennheiser Momentum 4 for the last 3 weeks. There are Pros and Cons to Wireless/BT Headphones. I will not bother with SONY WH-1000XM5 because I don't like SONY philosophy using inferior construction/build even though the other qualities of operation/functionality are above par or really good. If you purchase any SONY Product, make sure to buy their Extended Warranty. You will definitely need it! Sony products are not reliable and have poor durability/life span. Presently leaning in favor of Sennheiser Momentum 4 for sound quality, comfort, and connectivity, Plus long battery life of more than 50 hours, also can listen while using the USB to USB-C power cord while charging or if you happen to forgotten to charge the battery and have no power nearby, you can simply use the 3.5mm plug but with much dissatisfying sound. You will find a USB port nearly everywhere nowadays, use your laptop. Providing you intend to use the M4 for indoor purposes only. They are certainly a bargain for $229.95 Black Friday sale at the Sennheiser website with 2 Day free delivery. Also same sale price at Best Buy. Ordered another Momentum 4 headphones today, as to verify the perform alike as no bugs or internal failure. Consistency with Sennheiser. Though about doing the same with Bose QC Ultra because of multi-point pairing issues and long delay to get reconnected and switching between Roku TV, Samsung Smart TV, and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. Yes! QC Ultra are lighter but don't feel that much comfortable over the M4. If you don't like the Swipe Gestures or Ear cup sensors on the M4, then don't get them. ANC is alright but not as good as QC Ultra. Still, I genuinely feel M4 sound better. Once I verify using 2 Momentum 4's and that overall performance and sound is much alike. I will choose the Momentum 4's over QC Ultra. If you get Bose QC Ultra. Download the BOSE Updater PC App onto your computer or SMART phone. Version 1.6.7 is the latest App version and the Android Version is 10.4.8 as of November 21, 2024. Price wise, M4 is a bargain or savings of $100. M4 selling at $229 and Ultra at $329 during this 2024 Holiday season.
Though muffled I could still hear tons of outside noise. With the ultras I can't even hear my hands clap right in my face, and that's without anything playing in my headphones.
I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy the Momentum 4. The sound quality is alright, but the software is a piece of crap. The automatic functions are so erratic that I ended up disabling them as much as I could. The noise cancellation is rubbish, letting all the noise through. I used to watch videos like this before I decided which headphones to buy. Needless to say that I regret having listened to the people recommending the Momentum 4.
@@jaiacosta6025 for ANC. The Sony XM 5's, 4's, Bose qc and Sennheiser Accentrum, are adequate enough for most people..I've had them all and for the individual who needs to substantially drown out every single peep, then the Bose QC ultras are the only headphones that can provide that type of quiet, unless you're willing to spend in the 1k range.
@@jaiacosta6025 If you dont use the automatic pause and mute functions (which are annoying for me so I disable them in any headphone anyway) then the sound quality is better. I live in the city so I don’t use ANC because I am not trying to get jumped and having outside sound is more natural and relaxed sounding, so if you are in the same boat as me the M4’s are a great recommendation. My special edition M4’s were also only $210 USD on sale too, compared to the much steeper price of the ultras.
@@robertryanmason1209To me the q30 sounds better. Try the lesser known range of awei headphones. They sound punchy and slightly better than soundcore too.
I was very impressed with the sennheiser Momentum 4 , until I installed the sennheiser app. The audio quality has lost its sparkle. Hopefully, I'll find it again because the sennheiser Momentum 4 before I installed the app was amazing (I use wired iems a lot, a few wired headphones, Edifier stack spirit s3 and found the sm4 quickly became my headphones of choice).
Interesting, I just got the M4. Have thebQC Uktra as well. Went and install the app before listening and they sound tiny, no matter how i play with EQ. I will uninstall and check that
i do like my momentum 4s but i HATE the touch pass cause as you said, its very sensitive, and the anc is eh. been debating on returning them and just sticking to earbuds when im out
Ultras have no competitors in this area. This is coming from me after 6 different top of the line ( as far as the most common brands go because you can pay $600 up to $5k for some that make Bose look like cheap broke off Mickey Mouse ears) headphones, and an entire review community that chooses Bose for the best anc, in 90% of the review videos.
I bought a pair of the momentum 4 and I'm stunned by how these can last throughout my work week all while sounding incredible. However I don't really like the touch controls so I also bought the Accentum. I 💯 recommend Sennheiser products.
Just bought the qc ultras for 360 before tax after trying them on as well as the XM5’s at bestbuy. I was going to try on the momentum 4’s at bestbuy but wasn’t sure if they had a floor model
Aside from the connection and firmware being kinda janky at times the m4’s are absolutely amazing headphones. The clarity and bass are next level (I’m coming from beats lol)
@@YukiTheGremlin No stuttering or "white noise"? if you dont have these, check firmware on the app - what version? 2.13.28 or higher? Maybe lower? I have bought my M4 in september. Updated to the above version of firmware and since then white noise and general stuttering, not always, but damnnn.... Anyways looking to buy other headphones and honestly speaking i dont think anything else comes close when it comes to battery and sound. I do like my base to be punchy.
I ended up returning the m4s because they just were not comfortable for me. When i put them on i can already feel my ears getting hot. Its a shame because they sound great and thats something i will miss with them along with the battery life. I ended up getting the bose ultras they are more comfortable i can see myself wearing these for hrs. The anc is amazing as well as the transparency mode and the sound is not too far off from the Sennheisers. Though its disappointing i cant switch to aptx using the s23 ultra. Either way you cant go wrong with any of these. It also depends if they will be comfortable for you or not since with everyone its different and that was the dealbreaker for me personally.
@TheIrishMedievalArcher I'm very disappointed with the Ultras. Having my 3rd pair but about to order the 4th. Creaking headband/hinges/earcups when moving my head/jaw, even when walking. Straight out of the box.
You’ve chose the worse colour for momentum 4 to compare them to a completely opposite colour in black which makes it slimmer, plus you put considerably more clips of you wearing the Bose plus better “talk” about them and not emphasising on the importance of a better sound. Even not fanboying Sennheiser, they’re still a better buy for matters of sound. Bose won’t make you feel a thing
Why do these companies not introduce a Noise Gate for there Mics through there apps. Skullcandy ANC 2 you can laterally hammer in nails and they cant hear anything. Discord is a good example that its not hardware just a simple software upgrade!!!
I purchased the Momentum4 and they are going right back. The left ear cup has a rattling sound which was extremely unpleasant when listening to anything. Such an annoying thing.
Here For ANC it's Bose . . .Sony XM5 (does the job) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .everyone else down here because I wouldn't even call what they offer ANC, but rather just blast the music loud enough and hopes you won't hear.
I generally like my Ultras, but they are super plasticky and the build quality is not up to the very high cost IMO. The headband is super creaky, and you will at times hear a super annoying light popping noise from moving your head, and a creaking rope sound from the left side as you put them on, simply because of hand pressure distorting the earpiece and head movement. I think the popping is caused by a too loose of trunnion / pin fit at the housing, with the RH side being notably worse, with the super floppy joint between the band and fork does not helping and also seems the cause. I want silence, not popping and big mast ship sounds while moving my head. The touch volume slider sucks as you state for me as well; jumpy and easy to activate when not wanted. On head adjustment is not easy or good feeling, and you can feel the rod moving under the cushion, like it could pop right through. I love the ANC, but the super cheap, not precise build quality and all of the creaking and popping has me considering a return, but dreading the process considering how crappy my experience has been with Bose CS. These are made in China BTW, and you would think at the killing they are making they could have greatly upped the precision and quality feel a lot, esp for the very steep cost.
@@PhucNguyen-hr5ue Pathetic, isn't it? Spend $400 on a flagship product that has the build quality of a $10 TEMU headphone. No way I'm keeping this pair, and the replacement pair better not suffer the same BS or it goes back too. This is like buying a speaker that has a vibration / buzzing in it and that's OK... BS! Real shame as again the ANC is fantastic and now that I have them EQ'd properly the sound is pretty good.
True! Moving your head on moving at all causes the right earcup to make a super annoying clicking noise. With ANC so good the clicking noise is very audible 😭.
Very problematic for frequent travellers. Recently went to Japan and it ended up being 28hrs total of travel from NA. It was nice to not need to charge my WHXM5s during that time. Especially when sleeping on the flight.
@callouu3601 ah so... but then you have two solutions: don't use the immersive audio on those trips and/or take a powerbank with you. I agree the longer the batterylife the better but I think for most users its not that probematic
@@gradjelamers8770 I also find it just nice to not need to worry if they’re charged or not when I go to grab the headphones and head to the gym or wherever. I charge up every few weeks. To your point about immersive audio, that’s what separates the Bose ultra from headphones that have already been out for years. As said in the video, it’s preferred to use in their best sounding mode.
Less battery duration means more charging which means more wear and tear on the overall battery health which means the Bose will require a new battery way sooner than the Sennheiser (if they ever will at all)
@@lilithbar3712 Because of the better noice canceling. Also a bit for Spatial Audio. But that doesn’t matter much. I think sound is better on Sennheiser.
@@lilithbar3712 Get the Bose Ultra. It works and you’ll never have problems with it. I have Bose 700 and don’t regret it. Good sound that’s not fatiguing or too analytical. Great noise canceling. For better sound I have wired headphones. My top wireless now in the $300-$400 range: Bose Ultra (for noice canceling, pleasant sound and confort). Bowers and Wilkins PX7 S2e $ (For the bass and the looks) Sennheiser Momentum 4 (For the most accurate sound in this price range and for battery life). Sony XM5 (For the features , noice canceling and good sound).
Thanks for your detailed comment/review. B&W PX7S2e have been in my “shopping cart” most recently, as well as the Bose UC - haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I usually travel with my daily drivers beryerdynamic DT ProX - the best of 3 wired headphones I have. From what I’ve read the B&W appear to have the most natural/true sound for music, and best build quality + over-ear comfort + I prefer buttons over touch control. That being said, ANC of the B&W seems almost nonexistent when it comes to air travel. With at least 4 flights per year I’m finally considering wireless ANC headphones. If there were/are comfortable wired/connection headphones that provide the same or better ANC than Bose UC, I’d like to know.
The sennheiser momentum 4 is far better in almost every way ! I just wish it had the ANC of the Bose . Sound is amazing on the SM4 , battery 60hrs ! Microphone is very good (never had a problem in any situation) , codecs , ldac etc... the Bose NC 700 has a much better build than the ultra. Bose could have done better !
Then you were better off getting the XM5. Same audio quality as the M4, but even though the anc is still better on the Bose, with XM5 its way too close for anc quality to just choose the bose over them. XM5 are truly rhe most balanced headphones on the market and is a hair line close to the bose as far as anc.
@@JuliusTurner-hm6ff As a former DJ who takes sound quality very seriously, the XM5 doesn't even come close to the SM4; I always listen to High-res audio (I use TIDAL and use the usb-c listening) mind you. The XM5 were not comfortable at all ( not deep enough for my ears), and as someone who travels very long distances, I need serious battery life (the SM4 gives double vs the xm5). I have also read many stories on Reddit about the hinge breaking on the XM5. The ANC is great but could be better (Bose level) , but it's close enough and kills a ton of noise around me.
@vokso11 yeah you're spot on with the hinges because mine broke. Didn't have the M4's long so I may have just needed to adjust the sound and equalizer, but I'm a little biased because I use them daily and only listen to podcast (no music) so anc is more important to me than sound quality and those M4's are terrible with noise cancelation.
Man I just bought the momentum 4s and they don’t get loud at all. I can’t hear the music unless it’s on 80-90% The sound quality isn’t even great 😂😂😂 it’s all bass no mids or highs.
Bose has very high sound floor. I can’t listen to the music and read with these headphones at home simply because they are too loud at the lowest level. Plus you can’t off ANC. The touch pad is problematic. Very disappointed with this Bose model and got rid of them.
What? As a bose fanatic, I literally don't agree with you. I have so much bose stuff, but I was just interested in seeing what the others offer. So far, my money is on the sennys just because it offers the features I actually want. I don't agree that he is bose hostile 👎
Yeah they're not even close. Maybe a little close to the bose qc 2, but the ultra has no competition unless you get into brands that aren't sold at stores in $500-$2000 range. Not even the XM5s can compete with the Bose ultra.
Muddy, flat, boring, my old twice cheaper audio technica bluetooth sounds better or at least the same
is the ANC on the momentum 4's really as bad as they say it is? like how much would you rate it compared to bose QC ultra?
@@BBYbakathe M4’s noise cancelling is average and not on par with the XM5’s. You can literally hear a noticeable difference when you use them one after the other. The battery life and audio quality on the M4 is significantly better than both the Sony and the Bose.
@@Sayid.M have you tried the Bose qc ultra? I was thinking either those or the M4. It’s really hard to chose and I don’t want to have FOMO
If anything that's the two points I always looks first when considering buying a new headphone.
I wish the volume was a bit louder.
@@letraderencartonI don’t know which one to get, I listen to music - metal a lot
Primary quality we all need from headsets is quality sound..the rest is secondary and for that, I'd go with Momentum 4
I agree, but some people buy other BT headphones just for the ANC mostly
for that, you don't get wireless headphones lol.
Ur review is soooo helpful to me😍👍🏾thx
is the price for the m4 good. or still to expensive?
@@D.TH.87 I paid it 220 € in sales, so for me it was pretty good price when you see Sony and Bose prices. I can't imagine a better headphone for the price, and know I also want to buy the momentum 4 true wireless earbuds.
Very good video I didn't know the Momentum 4 could be wired via USB-C for sound,. That's nice !
Somehow you always got a comparison video I'm looking for 👍
I've been back and forth on these two headphones as both are currently on sale and I want to pick up a pair as a gift. This review is the best I've come across. Really appreciate this.
looks like I'm going for the Senheisser. Thanks!!
And while passive audio sounds crap straight away…you can eq it with a good parametric equalizer for a decent wired experience also
Yeah, using passive audio doesn’t make much sense when they sound better via usb
What's a parametric equalizer??
Senns 4 and I could still hear people talking in the gym and they weren't even that loud. Took them back ASAP.
The mic test on the momentum 4 is not accurate in this video. I've been to a loud coffee shop and no one I was on the phone with ever complained about the noise whereas in this video the coffee shop noise test kills the momentum 4.
I have the Momentum 4 which I got in August 2023… I can confirm that mine also turns on frequently while still in the case.
anything u can do to stop this issue ? :'( mine comes friday et hope doesn't have this problem.. i will put the case everyday in a backpack so hope this would be okay..
Hold the power button down to turn off instead of laying them flat. Issue solved.
Is there a significant difference in sound quality when listening to music when comparing the Airpods Pro 2's to the QC Ultra's?
My Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra headphones arrived a couple of days ago and are going straight back. The ANC is not as great as nearly every reviewer states, my old QCIIs are far superior. But the biggest issue with the Ultras is the popping noise in the right ear-cup when traveling on public transport. I found this channel looking for reviews for the Sennheiser which I'm tempted to try out.
So did you try them out?
@@Confucius202 The Sennheisers are great. Very happy with them.
@@BadBeardDude I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the popping in the right ear cup. At least I haven't seen it yet.
ANC isn't that important to me. When I listen to music or a podcast, I don't hear anything else anyway
.
I have the ultra’s the ANC is the best one except for the Apple’s max which have a slightly higher ANC.
the popping was the last straw for me, and i decided to return them. it literally hurts my ears and it feels like my eardrums are exploding lmao. alongside the popping issue, the QC ultras are way too buggy for a headset at that price range. so i’m considering between the XM5s and Momentum 4s right now
I have them.both and Bose sounds better, to my taste. Fulsome, better judged sound and clarity. M4 somehow sounds tinier. the bass is also better with Bose, more articulate and hearable without masking the midrange. And that's in normal mode, no EQ applied.
One very important aspect, actually two:
1. Bose sounds amazingly good even at low volume, maintaining clarity and bass . Also not requiring to push the volume up in noisy environments
2. Somehow they managed to maintain same clarity and punch in Awareness mode without needing to pump up the volume
QC are to me endlessly listenable. M4 are good bit I can't love them.
Battery life is indeed great on M4 but assuming you're all urban animals and not living off the grid my take is that you will do fine charging them once or twice a week. Price for having longer battery life is the size and weight. M4 cups are huge. Like them but don't love them
So if I don’t care about battery or whatever, which sounds better, Bose with Immersive audio on or the Momentum 4s?
Bose In general
The Sennheiser sounds so much better for music. It's the reason I bought them.
Have them both and QC sounds better
@@blackcatsarenopussiesu sure
The Sennheiser momentum 4's sound better, but the ANC on the Bose is quite a bit better.
Im dissapointed by all the ANC. In the beginning I always checked if the anc is really on because I expected way more after the hype. But yes your right.
But can't turn off ANC on my Sennheiser which is a bummer
i guess u will be a great reviewers on future bro, keep posting on all social media🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!
Keep up the great work
I have the Bose QuietComfort Ultra and just ordered the Sennheiser Momentum 4 due to an incredible sale!
Update?
Lol
I have never had any issues with the touch controls, although I hear some people do, but that would be a no point for me anyway because I buy headphones for the sound quality and comfort, not extra features like touch controls.

Thanks for the comparation
Thank you for the excellent review. I have he Bose QC Ultra. One major disappointment is the inability to save the EQ settings for different type of music. It's strange such a basic feature is not available in the app. With the Momentum 4 you can save your customized EQ presets. Moreover the Momentum 4 has 5 EQ sliders versus 3 on the Bose QC ultra although this is less important than the ability to save your settings.
Is px7 s2e video coming anytime soon?
There's a lot written online about connectivity issues with the Momentum 4s (as in, not pairing at all with devices or being very hard to pair). Have you found this to be the case?
It has been fixed with new software updates, I went to a showroom where they had multiple momentum 4's. The ones with older software would have connectivity issues while a pair with up-to-date software was working fine
Never had this happen. owned these headphones for 1 year and the only issue is that they turn on automatically sometimes.
I have Mom4 and it has great mic performance. Nobody told me sounds is bad on the phone. Also Mom4 doesn't have cabine pressure at all.
I saw today the Momentum 4 for 250 euros. Very good price if you ask me
No one asked you.
When people say the ANC for M4 is lacking; what does that mean? Can I still hear a plane, bus or xar engine?
Though muffled I could still hear tons of outside noise. With the ultras I can't even hear my hands clap right in my face, and that's without anything playing in my headphones.
I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy the Momentum 4. The sound quality is alright, but the software is a piece of crap. The automatic functions are so erratic that I ended up disabling them as much as I could. The noise cancellation is rubbish, letting all the noise through. I used to watch videos like this before I decided which headphones to buy. Needless to say that I regret having listened to the people recommending the Momentum 4.
@@jaiacosta6025 yes I ignore anyone who recommends it.

Weird. Momentum 4s are the most comfortable headphones out there. You must have a weird head shape.
@@jexxy1806ok Mr perfect head 😂
Go to developer setting menu for changing aptx
I don't know why but he looks like jacked version of Steven he
I have the Ultras and they are simply incredibles.
The sound quality when you hear jazz... Oh my god 🤤🤤🤤
How’s the sound quality? Have you tried them in wired mode?
The sound quality is sweet, is the way I describe them.
I haven't tried wired mode yet but I'll be updating this comment when I have.
@TheIrishMedievalArcher
I'm very disappointed with the Ultras. Having my 3rd pair but about to order the 4th. Creaking headband/hinges/earcups when moving my head/jaw, even when walking. Straight out of the box.
m3 does not sound better than m4. Just put some eq and get the same sound.
Momentum 4 isn't loud enough for me
Why do these companies not introduce a Noise Gate for there Mics through there apps.
😂😂 stone cold vibes
Im getting bose ultra
XM3 still the best for me 😊
it is old xm5 is better
@classicalmusic3979 the xm3s and the xm4s have 39-40mm drivers. The xm5s are only 30mm. You probably buy the new iPhone every year😂
@DimePieceBapa I have all three and the xm5's are definitely better..
Not enough difference between xm5 and xm4 except price and foldable going for xm4. At 250 xm4 is a steal
Comparing the Xm3 and 4 to the 5, just spells "I can't afford the XM5's right now" because they aren't even close to sound quality nor ANC on the XM5.
The real test of ANC is flying coach...

.everyone else down here because I wouldn't even call what they offer ANC, but rather just blast the music loud enough and hopes you won't hear.
Mine got the exact same noise in the headband and left ear cup. Very annoying. I need a quiet headphones, not this bs
If you can hear all of that while listening to music, then I'd say you bought a defected set.
18 hours problematic???? I think only when you would listen more than 18 hours a day.....
Very problematic for frequent travellers. Recently went to Japan and it ended up being 28hrs total of travel from NA. It was nice to not need to charge my WHXM5s during that time. Especially when sleeping on the flight.
if you actually leave the house, it'll be a problem....
Less battery duration means more charging which means more wear and tear on the overall battery health which means the Bose will require a new battery way sooner than the Sennheiser (if they ever will at all)
I'll stick to my Sony XM4 for now and wait for the next generation of Sony.
Bose nothing in front of Sennheiser
Anc is levels ahead of the senheiser
The winner is Bose.
For better sound go with wired Sennheiser.
Why is it the winner
@@lilithbar3712 Because of the better noice canceling. Also a bit for Spatial Audio. But that doesn’t matter much.
I think sound is better on Sennheiser.
I’m really trying to figure which one to get..
@@lilithbar3712 Get the Bose Ultra. It works and you’ll never have problems with it.
I have Bose 700 and don’t regret it. Good sound that’s not fatiguing or too analytical. Great noise canceling.
For better sound I have wired headphones.
My top wireless now in the $300-$400 range:
Bose Ultra (for noice canceling, pleasant sound and confort).
Bowers and Wilkins PX7 S2e $
(For the bass and the looks)
Sennheiser Momentum 4
(For the most accurate sound in this price range and for battery life).
Sony XM5
(For the features , noice canceling and good sound).
Bose stomps
The sennheiser momentum 4 is far better in almost every way ! I just wish it had the ANC of the Bose . Sound is amazing on the SM4 , battery 60hrs ! Microphone is very good (never had a problem in any situation) , codecs , ldac etc... the Bose NC 700 has a much better build than the ultra. Bose could have done better !
Microsoft from these samples seems rubbish with this robotic voice. I wonder how it's on normal usage.
You cant use the usb c port of the m4 as a wired audio connection. I tried
Sennheiser all day
*BOOoOSe*
Come on check out the skullcandys
I have them, and their series was next, but im just not excited about them.
Overrated trash that tries to compensate by putting loud base over poor sound quality.
I don't understand how anyone can read and listen to music for any source. I need complete quiet and concentration.
Could you *PLEASE* speak *SLOWER* ???
You can slow down the video
Sennheiser NC is sucked
This is clearly a bose hostile community...all good as long as you enjoy your Sennheiser's, but no... they are not better than the ultras. 😊
Why not
He said the "community" is hostile, not the guy in the video. Learn to read bud!
