    I was way down in Virginia near a small town called Galax. I ran off the road, very little harm done. The State Trooper gave me a ticket for reckless driving AND obstructing traffic(when they had to block the road to pull me out). It required a court appearance. I'm from Kentucky. I had to hire a lawyer remotely. My lawyer appeared in court for me, entered a guilty plea for $529 court costs and fine. His fee was $450. He told me I was lucky though I did not feel lucky

      It’s almost like they don’t want anyone to visit their state considering how harsh they are. I know I’ll think twice before going out there again

    They always do this crap, overcharge the crime and threaten you with jail. Fight it, it will be knocked down to speeding, trust me I've been right where you are. Spend the money, get representation it is all a game and you lose if you don't lawyer up. Cop should have given you a warning.

      What’s funny is that the cop told me he also used to ride, then gave me the ticket lol. I was like “where’s the love?”

    That sucks you got a ticket for reckless riding! That’s over the top! CA doesn’t have that strict of laws when it comes to speeding. And it’s certainly never considered reckless riding unless you are riding with the intent to cause harm. Sorry you went thru that!

    That really sucks that he wouldn't cut you break on Father's Day. I got a ticket in VA in the early 90's and the fine was $250 back then, they don't mess around down there for sure. Good luck with it, maybe a lawyer can help you get it reduced.

    I got extremely lucky in Texas. Pulled over for doing 102 in a 45mph zone. More like surrounded than pulled over. The trooper that initiated the stop knew my boss in the Army. He chewed me out for about 30 minutes and then let me go with a warning. Boy did I get lucky.

    Virginia don't play with speed 😂 especially when you start getting more into the mountainous parts of it, they take it super seriously. Glad to see you not only started looking into lawyers but started self-reflecting. Awesome of you to own up to your own mistakes. Takes a big man to be true to his own mistakes.

    Dance thing in Ohio. They will pull you over for driving the speed limit in the passing lane when there is no traffic to pass. They will pull you over for going 70 in a 65. Chicago is the opposite - 80 in 55 on the toll road is the normal. 5 lanes wide at 80mph.

      Maryland is similar to Chicago. You’re generally safe doing 80 on the highway in Maryland.

    Yeah they don’t play that’s for sure. I got one of those years ago up in warrenton on an indian. Luckily it’s been 5 years or whatever so it’s off my record now, but it was on there for a while. It really whatever, you’re just not getting a job with Uber. They’ll definitely work with you in court, it’s all about the $ at the end of the day. I have sport bike friends that have done time for triple digit tickets but we’re talking 150+. Definitely got to be careful. Glad I spend my time speeding in North Carolina these days. Don’t let the man keep you from enjoying 2 wheels though brother. F ‘em.

    California is wild I got caught doing 29 miles over here and I was damn I’m screwed!! because in Arizona if you get caught speeding anything over 20 miles over speed limit can go to jail lol but Cali will only take you to jail if your doing over 100 miles n hour but anything under that you get a fat ticket it was 550 bucks and few points lol it that comes with riding just gotta be careful though, But every state is definitely different but ride safe 🤙🏼

  • @RoadReality
    @RoadReality 2 года назад +1

    Yup, Virginia is super strict on speeding - in addition to 20+ over, anything over 80mph can be ticketed as "reckless driving", so 65 in a 45 and 85 in a 70 are the same ticket. Good luck in court [that's a mandatory court appearance, isn't it?] - lawyering up is a good idea!

    • @IronBornRider

  • @TechNickRides
    @TechNickRides 2 года назад +1

    Hey IBR (Jason),
    You are in the same predicament I was a few months ago, except I got mine in my car 71 in a 45. You were down around my area and I could probably make two guesses of which road you were probably on being near the Skyline drive area. Those areas are patrolled quite frequently by the State or County boys.
    My best advice I can give you is to get a lawyer for representation. At minimum take a Virginia defense driving online course (8 hours) and that may most likely reduce your charges to a speeding infraction, or potentially you could get it dropped. Like you I never got a ticket like that before and did not realize it was that harsh either. Virginia reckless driving is 20 over or anything above 80. The interstate is speeds are 70, so technically anything 10mph over is considered regardless of if you look at it in that sense. I agree it is an intense punishment when compared to other factors when it comes to a Class 1.
    I think we go through these hardships sometimes for something to tell us we need to slow it down, life’s to precious to be in a hurry. Good luck sir, I hope some of this advice will take some of the stress and anxiety away, trust me its no fun.

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  2 года назад +1

      You’re a good man tet, thanks for the encouragement. Even though it’s costly I did retain a lawyer to help me out, and I also just completed a driver improvement course. My lawyer said community service can also help. I’m right there with you, I think this was a good wake up call for me to slow it down. I’m glad I learned this lesson via a speeding ticket vs an accident. Silver lining.

    You know I feel your pain!
    I was able to pay the fine 242 bucks and then take traffic school to remove the points from my record so my insurance doesn’t go up. Sorry buddy I’m lucky I was doing 105 and they wrote me up for doing 65 in a 55.
    I know it sucks. I’m a bit of a speed demon and I can’t afford another ticket either

    Man i don't miss those Md and Va cops a bit, other then Fl cops, they were the worst. Since you live in Md and got the ticket in Va, there shouldn't be any points attributed to your Md license/record unless they changed laws since 2004 and share points between states now. Basically I think your are ok, just have to pay whatever fine Va doles out.

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  2 года назад +1
