He didn't get cut off.... as a motorcycle rider, obviously his defensive riding is piss poor, badly, for one he was in the middle of the intersection, not indicating which lane he was going to commit to,... so it was anybody's guess, he's not communicating with the drivers on the road.. secondly as the rider he should know especially the right-hand Lane, is where drivers are legally allowed to turn right on red, and that usually is the lane people pull out into when getting on the main road leaving from some parking lot... that's why I always try to stick to the left lane when coming up to an intersection, or on the service road...

I am just going to be real in reference to the line "I want to have a bike like that" to which I say, 'then go get one'. 😅 But seriously though, in regards to the video here, out of the 2 choices, you have already picked your poison. You picked the Sport Bike. If you truly liked a Cruiser, you would have gotten a Cruiser. You have 2 options. You can either trade up to the superior Cruiser (higher top speed doesn't mean higher status in motorcycles) or if you don't want to trade up, you can do option 2 which is to add a Cruiser to your garage. Honestly Scooby if you see this, you should get a Cruiser if it's within the budget. They are not only awesome looking, but they are also comfortable as all hell. They are actually super fun to ride. Sport Bikes are fun too but only when you are going fast or doing wheelies, otherwise regular riding is quite boring. A Cruiser will fix this. On top of that, they are more personably customizable. They also sound much better having a V-Twin Engine and overall riding one just gives you a commanding stance and place on the road. Don't get me wrong, Sport Bikes are a great love of mine but they just can't hold a candle to the Cruisers.
Just another example, if there are two cars in the right lane, and the one in front turns his blinker on and starts to slow down to make a right turn... it's almost guaranteed for the car behind him to instantly turn into the left hand lane to go around him as the car completes his turn while slowing down, as a motorcycle rider, the second you see a car in front of another turn his blinker on you should instantly be prepared for the one behind him to turn into your lane in attempt to go around the car. Riding defensively and accurately predicting the outcome of cars maneuvers is key to staying safe on the road.
Yeah, I saw that coming. Perception is weird. We can swear that we do a continuous scan when looking from left to right, but we actually do it in chunks and our brains fill in the rest. Thus, it's always possible to miss something no matter whether you're riding or driving. Nope, never! Lane splitting has been condoned for a long time in California, only a few people here don't like it. There is so much traffic here that it just makes sense. It should be legal everywhere. Some riders condone it, others say its not worth the risk. To each, their own.

The tradition is, that if they take a shot at you on your bike, as a community service you kick their car door in. They'll keep an eye out for bikes after that. I find this to be particularly satisfying on Beemers and Mercs. But what do I know I;m old skool.

I think you misunderstood. If you are in neutral while waiting, stationary, at a red light, you are a helpless target. You've given up most of your bike's primary advantage. if you are in first gear, you have a half second too a couple of seconds to get clear. In neutral, you must disengage the clutch, get your foot off the pavement and get the bike into first gear....and then you can increase revs to avoid stalling the engine as you dump the clutch. That is going to take .25 seconds to react, if you are really fast and can assess velocity and vectors very quickly. The average rider, such as the kid next to you gabbing at the light won't have a chance if he even detects a car closing from the rear too fast. For one thing, he was standing, and on that bike he was out of position to monitor his rear view mirrors. I've dodged rear end collisions and aholes that lost control when they entered a turn too fast into the intersection in front of me. Being prepared has served me well over the last 55 years of riding.
