The MiG-31 Foxhound . It is equipped with two D-30F6 turbofan two-shaft engines with a common afterburner and a variable supersonic nozzle, which allow the aircraft to fly at supersonic speeds of up to Mach 2.83.The interceptor also features unique air-to-air missiles capable of hitting targets at ranges exceeding 200 kilometers (125 miles), including aircraft with stealth capabilities, cruise missiles, and supersonic aircraft.
@shawnwade351 Yes there are conformal fuel tanks above the wings on both sides of the fuselage, a dorsal spine compartment (behind cockpit going to the tail) for more avionics. And I think a new Laser targeting pod under the engine intake.
@razor11079 "Block"is like the level of the F-16 but they are all still Fighting Falcons, for example F-16A/B are from block 1 to block 20,F-16C/D are from block 25 to block 52,and those last F-16 are F-16E/D and are Block 60,this last one was originally builded for the U.A.E. air force, the differences are in the avionics, systems and engine, those humps on the sides are just for fuel, infrared systems on the nose etc...but they all are Fighting Falcons,of course 60 better than others Cheers!
The F-16 is no longer the cutting edge, however it still has a lot of value in a low-cost and easy to maintain multi-role aircraft for export. Add to this a ton of available spare parts and a well-established and regarded combat history, It is no wonder that a lot of smaller nations are using it to replace aging craft like the F-5, F-4, earlier Migs, and the like. It may not be the uber fighter it once was, but it's dirt cheap and still effective.
I am proud to be a fighter F-16 Block 60 work for my country United Arab Emirates. Emirates is the only country in the world that owns the block 60. Because this block was made specifically for the UAE. The UAE where the financing of this project.
The F16IN Super Viper is a unique new fighter sharing a heritage with the only fifth generation fighters - the F35 Lightening II and the F22 Raptor. Evolutionary integration of fifth generation technologies supports the claim that the Super Viper is the most advanced fourth generation fighter in the world today. This Ultimate Fourth Generation Fighter meets or exceeds all of India’s MMRCA requirements and as per the OEM, is absolutely the right choice for the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The Novator bureau, better known for the S-300V/SA-12 Gladiator/Giant long range SAMs and the 3M-54/SS-N-27 Sizzler cruise missile, soon followed with a competing proposal for the R-172 (formerly KS-172) AAM-L very long range missile
The categories of products manufactured by the company include small arms, mortars, cannons, weapon systems, missile systems, external loads for aircraft (MIRAGE & F-16), medium- and large-calibre ammunition, propelling powders and harges, reinforced plastics, military uniforms, work clothing, body armour, cartridge case cups, blank euro coins and, finally, commercial products. HDS has gained a reputation at home and abroad for high-quality, highly reliable products.
@mrcharles007 good point. but i just can't see drones not being able to outperform piloted aircraft soon... all the avionics, power that can be packed into a smaller platform - maybe eventually having good enough AI to operate independently but yeah, it's a ways off... and the F16 block 60 looks awesome, no doubt.
the mig-31 is an interceptor as you said. good for protecting huge landmasses (like russia) against enemy strategic bombers. i would never ever send a mig-31 in a dogfight with a f-16! though i think that russia is trying to rebuild some as strike-aircraft similar to the f-15E. would be interesting to see how its gonna be since there are vry few countries who need or can afford a pure interceptor like the mig-31
@UAExXxMAN The block 60 was supposed to be a mass export version though. I don't understand how only the UAE has it? I would've imagined more of our allies would purchase it.
the IAF have them too. and with that "dorsal spine" with more avionics that they use. and with the pyton 5 close range heat missile, they have the best multirole fighter in the world
it actually looks heavy like that for the purpose of agility and speed. All fighters, in combat mode, which have to carry all those fuel tanks underneath their wings tremendously effects its drags, wing loading, aerodynamic performances in a very bad way. By having the fuel tanks strapped to the body, these damages can be compromised by significant numbers. There are proposals for the typhoon to have similiar configuration, but I haven't seen any real down money yet. Anyone got news on this?
I think Arabs should move towards home production for Fighter jets , Saudis trying to get home production for typhoon really makes me happy. We are Developing JF-17 Thunder Block 1 at home on a ratio of 55% and eventually it will go upto 90% when we will hit Block II and Block III. FC-20 or J-10 /B is also on offer to Pakistan air force with Transfer of technology or transfer of production technology. UAE should get TOPT for Rafale.
PW/F-110 does not come with TVC , we are trying to put TVC on J-10B with chinese together on ws-10A. If a success that would be a benchmark for Pakistan air force.
I find it funny as shit that every small country claims to have the best airforce in the world. So many people crapping on saying " Oh we beat the US were so awesome our pilots are a small force but the best" It's becomming a cliche guys. I think it speaks more for the American pilots that have obviously become the benchmark than the people saying they beat them. - An Australian.
SU 27-35 misile range 400km +. kinematics speed 6000-7000km /h 12 G .connected with ground VHF radar SU or MIG can see over 2000km every stealth plane. VHF see 8 points 2 m radius on every F-22 from distance 2000km +
On 8 October 1996, 7 months after the escalation over Imia/Kardak a Greek Mirage 2000 fired an R550 Magic and shot down a Turkish F-16D[10] over the Aegean Sea. The Turkish government claims was on a training mission north of the Greek island of Samos, close to the Turkish mainland. The Turkish pilot died, while the co-pilot ejected and was rescued by Greek force... ITS OBVIOUS WHAT WIL HAPPEN SOON
the one offered to india is designated F 16IN the features shud be the same as block 60 and would be the advanced F 16 ever produced and if purchased, india will get F 35 as a compliment to F 16...but india wont buy bcoz pakistan has F16 and another reason is it is old no matter what they upgrade...
AIM-120C5 has a range greater than 105km. The C7 has an even longer range than that,,yes but not on full engine power end speed. sukces #1 on air combat is kinematc speed. russian missile 6000km/h end 12G
That's right. Now all of those stories about how we got crushed by the Indians and Israelis and Germans(flying ex-East German mig-29s) in dogfight exercises will be a thing of the past with the JHMCS and aim-9x in service. We won't be at a massive disadvantage anymore in dogfights when facing planes with aa-11 type missiles and helmet cueing systems. Now we are at least equal. The long range kill is still best, however. Dogfighting is now mutual suicide if u don't see and shoot first.
Is this the same block that US offers to India? As for US favoring Turkey, by 2013, US will give license to Turkey to build the f-35. I think that's hell of alot of favor.
@1337wafflezz 2 United Arab Emirates a major strategic ally of the United States, military relations are very strong and there are two U.S. military bases in the UAE. UAE gave Lockheed Martin a huge sum of money against the development of F-16, thereby manufacturing F-16 Block 60.
sorry i've been hiding in a cave for a quite some time.. just wondering what is the advancement of the f-16 block 60? is it primarily the electronics, radar sort off?
Saying a Mig 31 doesn't need to dogfight is the same as the US Navy saying the F-4 wouldn't need to dogfight during Vietnam. There's no such thing as "no such thing". Also, Sukhoi > Mikoyan-Gurevich
Isreal wants to get the F-22 but I highly doubt they will. If they do happen to get an F-22, it won't be the F-22, it will be the F-22B, which might not even be an F-22 variant, but a YF-23 variant. Only time will tell.
sakoshooter48 just because you host the RED FLAG doesn't make you teachers and the rest students all participants are skilled, USAF personel(both pilots and ground crew) was impressed by the HAF personel performance. that is what i have heared, i suspect HAF did pretty well but i belive the numbers (18:3) are a bit inacurate.. not all is measured by kill ratio..
Kuwait had a decent Air Force too....yet still over-run in a matter of hours. The UAE is so small that once it's air space is violated....the bombs will be raining down within seconds anyhow. Check a map of the Persian Gulf area to understand this... The F-16 is about as useful to them as the rest of their Lambo's and Ferrari's.
No that's not true. Northrop has gathered their YF-23 prototypes to restore them as regional bombers to compete against Lockheed Martin for the funds for mass production of the next "F-22B". Like I said, time will tell. It's up to who makes the better plan to perform the roll. The YF-23, IMO, may shine considering its superior stealth capabilities over the Raptor design.
@aek1928 LOL okay, I'm just in the air force, have attended several red flags myself...and ill tell you right now, that a bunch of first lieutenants and new captains fresh out of UPT are not the best the air force has to offer by a long shot...red flag is used as a learning experience for them...simple as that...we invite other countries so we can share certain tactics and get a broader spectrum of a total air war...so think what you will, I'm talking from intimate experience though
As someone that is NOT American, I think it speaks volumes that everyone else is always talking about how they beat this or that america at this or that. The very fact alone that the American military is the benchmark world wide speaks volumes. Always tlaking about how certain amerrican were impressed ect, like puppies trying to please their masters or something. I suggest you lads leave the petty nationalism at home from now on. That's both sides of the argument.
If India don't want F-16IN Super Viper Block 70. We could help UAE F-16 block 60 upgrade to Super Viper block 70. The F-16 Block 70 AESA radar the AN/APG-80 used 5th Gen. Stealth avionics from F-22 & F-35 making the F-16 most powerful 4.5 Generation aircraft. Also it would be good we sell F-15SE Silent Eagle to UAE air force making the most powerful Arab air force in the middle east.
What the hell have they done to that beautifully slick A/C that Col John Boyd had the balls to develope against all resistance? It used to be the Light Weight Fighter Project, remember????Not the fat goose bollocks project!!!
Gods speed UAE airforce, how much does this jet cost by the way? i know that the F-22 is 125million $ also anyone heard about the new french jet i heard its better than the stealther !
No offense to the pilots here, but I think drones will outclass any human-piloted designed fighter in 10 years. The shift in air combat will be revolutionary. Eurofighter/F22 planes will be for pure flying enthusiasts.
the AIM-120-D is said to have a 50% greater range as the AIM120-C-7 which already has a range of 100+ km. by the way these are the ranges of the missiles. its pure nonsense to engage another fighter at the maximum range of your missile because the enemy can easily evade it or fly out of its range. the missile would run out of fuel before reaching the other plane. thats why there arent many encounters at 100+ km. besides what are you trying to prove? a mig-31 costs 60 m $ an f-16C about 20 m $.
does anyone have some reliable sources about the unit cost of the f-16e? once i read something about 90m $ and another time something about 26m$. if it really costs only 26m than this baby should be on the wishlist of every air force. completely outperforms all previous versions and would be much cheaper than the competition. the f-35 would perhaps outperform it but it is much more expensive and still needs some years after introduction to get rid of some inevitable design flaws.
AIM-120-D is said to have a 50% greater range as the AIM120-C-7....only in theory, real live for US a/a missile is 30 km MAX from target lake MIG-29.MIG-31,SU27 -35. reason US missile lousing power after 40-60km. the best Russia missile is the same after 160km +.
Yes my young friend, I not only agree with you but have already reported his further words of hate he wrote me after and his page along with the comments he wrote on the pages, to both You-Tube and The Department of Homeland Security. For all anyone knows he could be part of a terrorist movement and as as such it would be a dereliction of duty on my part, not to report about such pro terrorist comments. Mazal Tov!
Sorry, investing to F-16 is waysting the money. new MIG-29 OTV has supremacy over F-16 next 10-15 years. this is real live. new radar ,engine ,trust 3D end missile 160 km +.
@aek1928 you do realize...the pilots we send to red flag...are BRAND NEW right? like fresh out of their pilot upgrade....thats like a professional soccer team with years of experience bragging about beating a college team thats not that good yet...like i said congrats...but thats red flag...what has your country done in real air wars...cause ours has an impeccable history....plus as stated before...good luck winning an air war with NO TANKERS and your 40 minute vul times
what makes u think this is dirt cheap?? each piece cost 40 million dollars and UAE paid 100 million for each plane they ordered cuz they wanted missile system intact. research u'll find ur answers.
really i guess uae do have becoz of hell lot of money but who would fly them??? think about it and tell where u get the training to fay fighter gets remember "these r not guns these r MEN behind the guns"
f-16 can engage the mig-31 itself from such ranges with the AMRAAM........you are yoking? whit US made a/a missile against MIG or any Russian planes made after 2004
60000 km/h ,4000 +2000 = 6000 km/h .did you know what is kinematics speed. this is basic from physics. 12 G - Russian missile is not US missile. the best US long range A/A missile end full speed/power 30 - 40 km max. Russian 400 km.
this is nonsense. even in todays world fighters need to be able to dogfight. engagement ranges have steadily increased in the past decades. now in a modern day scenario a fighter even needs to have BVR capability. still dogfights occur and dont forget that even BVR capable f-16 can engage the mig-31 itself from such ranges with the AMRAAM. the mig-31 is what it is: an excellent interceptor but using it as a fighter would be wasting ressources because there are cheaper alternatives for its role.
The Vympel R-73R variant has a booster pack attached and is designed to be carried tail first on a launch rail, and fired backward.

wow, thats sooo epic!
of ten air-to-air missiles were fired at the MiG-25s, though none could reach them
very nice

@dereklsept Isn't Red Flag designed to give the fighter pilot his first ten missions? Me thinks this other guy has his story a little mixed up.

the greek f-16 52+ is the best because fling by the best pilots.beware at your six for the greeks......
Yes my young friend, I not only agree with you but have already reported his further words of hate he wrote me after and his page along with the comments he wrote on the pages, to both You-Tube and The Department of Homeland Security.
For all anyone knows he could be part of a terrorist movement and as as such it would
be a dereliction of duty on my part, not to report about such pro terrorist comments.
Mazal Tov!
show us weapons use-firing -release!
for the H.A.F!! hail bl-60!
@razor11079 haha really?

what makes u think this is dirt cheap?? each piece cost 40 million dollars and UAE paid 100 million for each plane they ordered cuz they wanted missile system intact. research u'll find ur answers.
really i guess uae do have becoz of hell lot of money but who would fly them??? think about it and tell where u get the training to fay fighter gets remember "these r not guns these r MEN behind the guns"
EIVAI
Russian / PLA Low Band Surveillance Radars from Air Power Australia
The Israeli Air Force have Block 60
f-16 can engage the mig-31 itself from such ranges with the AMRAAM........you are yoking? whit US made a/a missile against MIG or any Russian planes made after 2004
60000 km/h ,4000 +2000 = 6000 km/h .did you know what is kinematics speed. this is basic from physics. 12 G - Russian missile is not US missile. the best US long range A/A missile end full speed/power 30 - 40 km max. Russian 400 km.
THA PAME
this is nonsense. even in todays world fighters need to be able to dogfight. engagement ranges have steadily increased in the past decades. now in a modern day scenario a fighter even needs to have BVR capability. still dogfights occur and dont forget that even BVR capable f-16 can engage the mig-31 itself from such ranges with the AMRAAM. the mig-31 is what it is: an excellent interceptor but using it as a fighter would be wasting ressources because there are cheaper alternatives for its role.
Omg go cry ringsight somewhere else....HAF has the best pilots...you can kiss your F22,F16,F15 goodbye
it started out as a low cost cheap fighter with no radar too bad the best F16 will not be flying for the US
