@@WatchitforDays When Lilly Stanhope threw the cold cream jar across at 7:09, this was partially why I had a dream that I was on top of a museum structure, trying to reach balloons on the ceiling on the other side of a running Envirofan 56" industrial ceiling fan running at 240-300 rpm, and this was 1/3 of a nightmare because one of my moms attempted to throw whatever it was at me to get my attention, but I crouched under it right when I saw the shadow of it moving on the wall, and therefore my mom accidentally threw it at the drywall and got in trouble for damaging the drywall, even though this unknown object didn't break or break anything else downstairs when it fell down, and even though my mom apologized to the staff for attempting to throw whatever this was at me and unintentionally breaking the drywall and paid the staff for the drywall damage, they still kicked her out of the museum (since when you do terrible stuff like this, and even after you pay for the damage, even if you're an adult, they won't let you come in again, just as with what happens in person since they'll worry that you'll (try to) do terrible stuff like that (on purpose) again). Although I rarely have 2% strange dreams with 98% of everything else being in-person, this may sound a little bit strange because after the 1/3rd of this nightmare about my mom, 2/3rds of the rest of this dream looked fun to remember because in order to get off the structure and reach the balloons at the same time, in these 2/3rds of this dream, I jumped off the structure and used a hover hat to fly under the ceiling fan and over to the other side. The balloons were in-person, so they didn't let me descend, and therefore rather than shutting the hover hat propeller off, I slowed the hover hat propeller down a little bit, and then shut the hover hat propeller off when I landed. I was happy to have the balloons, and on the final 3rd part of this dream, the staff were impressed when I got the balloons and landed with the hover hat in this dream, and they also supervised me due to my mom being kicked out due to the drywall damage being her responsibility, but I was still happy in this dream. With this 2% strange stuff I rarely dreamed about, like the hover hat, even though 98% of everything else was in-person in these same dreams, I started to think these 2/3rds of this dream were (partially) due to what I remember having when I was little, although they rarely become why I dream about stuff like this, but I still get the idea of what happens in person outside these dreams. Even though 2% of this dream detail was strange, there were still no automated sounds or illusion designs of stuff not being what happens in person. For example, in this dream, 1 - there wasn't any automated flinging sound for whatever one of my moms accidentally threw at the drywall or motion illusion tail (that almost looks identical to a rocket flame) that would have followed whatever this object was, 2 - there weren't any collision stars or automated cymbal sounds (for where this unknown object hit the drywall), in the 2/3rds of the fun details of this dream, 3 - there was no automated dropping sound (for when I jumped off the structure), 4 - there were also no automated rushing sounds for when I used the hover hat to fly under the Envirofan, 5 - motion illusion tails (that almost look identical to rocket flames) that would have followed my fast motion, or 6 - wind gust swirls (that almost look like icons that some modern fan or air conditioner controls would have) under the running ceiling fan because of 98% of everything else being regular. All of my other dreams I had with 2% strange stuff still had 98% regular details and 100% natural sounds and voices.
I love this review, Shonna! One of your best reviews for one of the worst Columbos. 3 Columbo cigars is fair. No matter how much Honor Blackman overacts in this, I still love watching her. Nobody seems to take themselves very seriously in this episode, like they all knew this was going to be pretty bad, but just decided to have fun with it.
I just adore Honor Blackman... tickled pink to see her almost repeating her Jaguar-driving character in Midsommer Murders. I'm delighted to find her in Colombo!

I was just searching your profile page for the newest masterpiece. This wasn't one of my favorite episodes, but not the worst by any means. Lots of fun tossing around British tropes, and seeing a very smog stained London of the early 1970s. Your work ethic in putting these videos together is amazing. Thank you.
I just discovered your channel and LOVE it! Immediately became a patron. Something that may have gone unnoticed is at around 1:06:00 Columbo notes that that Big Ben is a minute slow to which Inspector Dirk replies "We must put another penny on the governor." Big Ben has a mechanical clock and chime movement and uses a pendulum as a mechanical governor. I found this on a Big Ben website: "Famously, the adjustments to compensate for variations in the clock's rate are made by placing pennies on a convenient ledge on the pendulum behind the clock, thus altering the position of its centre of gravity." (I haven't made it through all the comments so I'm not sure if this has been noted before.) Please keep up this incredible series!

It's me Sarah Bernhardt again. I just watched Lovely But Lethal with Vera Miles(nee Vera June Ralston;) She is 93yrs old! And must be the oldest living cast member who played the killer on Columbo. Clive Revill(The Conspirators)will be 93 on April 18th. Oh that reminds me...your reviews are so thorough & well done❤
Sarah Bernhardt! What a gorgeous surprise! Thank you for sharing those ages! There are still many living Columbo actors ❤️ Also, thank you for your kindness 😊

Another old fashioned expression pertaining to this episode is "busman's holiday" - a vacation during which one engages in activity that is similar to one's usual work.
I just listened to "Busmans Holliday" by Dorothy L. Sayers the other night. Whilst on their honeymoon, the lead protagonists, get caught up in a mystery that they must resolve. Much like their normal day to day lives. Much like Poirot. It appears as there is nowhere on earth that fella vacation without encountering a murderer.
I looked up that term after hearing it in one of the Inspector Morse episodes (I think) and I wanted to make sure it meant what I had deduced. I wonder why they call it that? I mean, someone who drives a bus would hardly have his bus with him on holiday, would he? English is a funny old language!
I agree with all of the expressions of love, happiness, glee enjoyment thankfulness, and gratefulness of your great cast of commenters! Thank you for your hard work, and great content!
Super long review, but luckily it didn't feel as long as the original episode :) . Love it when you include your drawings. Thanks for all the details you find.
I was just discussing a current show with a friend and said if Columbo taught me anything it's that you never try to blackmail a killer. So funny you mentioned that.

I loved the fact that the first murder wasn't even really a murder. A total accident that wouldn't even be manslaughter. If they just told the police right away I'm sure nothing would have happened to them.
Then there'd be no show. Lol . Imagine if every episode there was a murder and the killer just said to Columbo "I did it, I killed the b*stard and I'm glad". 5 minute episodes and 2 minute deep dive reviews. Only kidding

Finally a reviewer who ties the tragedy of Macbeth into this couples' tragic path into murder and madness, and still realizes there is much light hearted parody and fun to be had here. I was just in the neighbourhood and something was bothering me. I was wandering when a new Watch It For Days would be posted. Now I have the answer, you mam are guilty of creating awesome Columbo analysis videos.😀
I'm having such fun with your episodes, because I had so much fun rewatching the series a few years ago. My Facebook memories are replete with wry observations like the ones you make, and you make me laugh, which I really appreciate. A pronunciation note for you: at 14:32 you read out the headline on the cover of True Detective, and pronounce "coed" as "cooed". But it's a two-syllable word: co-ed, as in co-educational; back in the 70s, the media (especially the sensational media) commonly referred to female college students as "coeds". I rejoice that you've never encountered this usage before; it met its deserved demise before the 1970s were over, I think. Gentlemen's clubs: When Dirk says the club "hasn't changed since Father's day", he means it hasn't changed since his own father was a member. Given that Dirk is probably in his fifties, his father was probably a member at least that long ago, and is probably the reason Dirk is now a member. Dirk was probably introduced to the place as a teenager, and put up for membership when he came of age. He and his father were probably both members at the same time, until his father died or became unable to go to his club.
Thank you very much, Wendy! I correct my pronunciation of coed in my Season 2 compilation video. I got quite a few comments about it 😊 And Dirk's remark about Father's Day makes sense now, thank you for that amazing explanation!
This has evolved to become one of my favourite episodes over the years. Notwithstanding the Dick Van Dyke school of English character acting, ropey murders and the discrepancies in US for England filming but everyone must have had a great time hamming it up and that does not detract from the entertainment. Its charm for me largely comes from the archaic portrayal of Britain policing which in 72 seems 40 years out of date. Hard to fathom that the Sweeney was only two years away.
Lots of the show could been 1930s or 1950s. But some things from this 70s era are still quite true: the police commissioner will be appointed by the King on advice from the government. And the King will have knighted them as befits a spectacularly powerful and high office with onerous levels of responsibility: the London police commissioner is not above the fray. As in the 1970s, counter-terrorism is still a big deal, everyday, but that battle is still fought mostly without guns, without force, by using intelligence-gathering and 'by consent' (the police don't use guns mostly so the villains don't use guns, mostly). It is kinda quaint but it keeps the death toll quaintly down. They no longer have those 1970s sideburns and moustaches, at least...
wow....great recaps, such detail with explanations and actor histories.....nothing else like your site out there...thank you so much can you the same with "Foundation"? the hardest show to follow on tv Again, I salute you!
I love all your video reviews but you really did an awesome job at the research for this one. I loved the knowledge that you packed in this one especially a lot I didn't even know about. Love this episode. Lived in England for three years; loved seeing the sights and the British actors and the stereotypes here as well. You did a great job with the deep dive, very fun to watch.
Great job, as usual. You had plenty of Macbeth info, but one additional tidbit is that Macbeth is referred to in superstitious theatrical circles as "The Scottish Play"
@@WatchitforDays If you haven't yet discovered the Blackadder series, you must watch Series 3 Episode 4 "Sense and Senility." The famously hilarious scene of the episode revolves around Blackadder tormenting superstitious actors who can't bear to hear the name "Macbeth."
I’ve been looking forward to your musings for this one. I found the end of this episode somewhat underwhelming but the early scenes with Columbo doing a Clouseau - in baggage collection at the airport, is comedy gold.

I appreciate you and all the work you do...just sad there were no big fancy lighters in this one for you to admire.
Thank you very much for your encouragement! ❤️ Yeah, we haven't seen any nice big lighters for a few episodes now...
I'm so happy you enjoyed the video, my friend ❤️
I love Honor Blackman
I just adore Honor Blackman... tickled pink to see her almost repeating her Jaguar-driving character in Midsommer Murders. I'm delighted to find her in Colombo!
It's like a mini-Christmas seeing one of these videos pop up, cheers and thanks for all your work.
Merry mini-Christmas ❤️
Awesome! I am so glad I found this channel!
I'm so glad you're here!
Thank you so much for the quality and effort put into this video. It really shows.
I really appreciate that❤️
Holy hell! The effort that has gone into this video is incredible! Superb.
Thank you very much!
One of the greatest episodes & you have done a marvellous job , please do many more .
Thank you, Robert! I plan to do all of them :)
Thanks!
Thank you for this generous gift!!
A delight as always, Ms WifD. Thank you so much for the drawings to fill in the lost scenes; those were great!
I'm glad you enjoyed those :)
You do a fantastic job disceting this episode ❤
So true❤😂
Thank you very much, Johnny ❤️
Yayy! Always brightens my day to listen to these as I drive to and from work.
Thank you very much! Drive safely ❤️
I caught your latest work 52 minutes after you posted the video. Thanks again for all of your work. I always make a point of watching this episode when it comes on TV. It's certainly not the worst Columbo episode!
I agree with you!
Shonna, your reviews of the Columbo series are absolutely fantastic! Unbelievably informative, entertaining and funny! Thank you for all the work you do.
And I love the "you can look that up" line! Very clever reference to Exercise In Fatality. haha!
Well done catching my reference there 😊 Thank you for your very kind words❤️
@@WatchitforDays You're welcome Shonna! I've watched all your reviews so far. I admire your attention to detail and your sense of humor! Looking forward to the next one ❤
Extraordinary! 😲 and brilliant! 😲 The detail you‘ve researched, interesting history and the great character actors you have identified and research too 😄👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Well done my dear Shonna…I love the 70s Columbo series…and your documentary entertaining style, packed with interesting information 👍👍😉
Thank you very much, my friend! I really appreciate this encouragement ❤️
My dear friend Lester! I didn't know you were a Columbo fan! Pleasure to see you here!
@@markinri1877 Yes indeed…Columbo was the best detective 1970s series…clever plots and great character actors and many stars appeared through the series…and the the early 1990s series was in the same style too 😊 Good to see your Mark….I think a lot pipe smokers like Columbo too 😄😄😉💨💨💨
@RedcoatsReturn Absolutely, and revolutionary as you know who dun it at the start, and so good you watch for the pleasure of watching Columbo unravel it 😊
I was just searching your profile page for the newest masterpiece. This wasn't one of my favorite episodes, but not the worst by any means. Lots of fun tossing around British tropes, and seeing a very smog stained London of the early 1970s. Your work ethic in putting these videos together is amazing. Thank you.
I'm so happy you enjoyed the video ❤️
I just discovered your channel and LOVE it! Immediately became a patron.
Something that may have gone unnoticed is at around 1:06:00 Columbo notes that that Big Ben is a minute slow to which Inspector Dirk replies "We must put another penny on the governor."
Big Ben has a mechanical clock and chime movement and uses a pendulum as a mechanical governor. I found this on a Big Ben website:
"Famously, the adjustments to compensate for variations in the clock's rate are made by placing pennies on a convenient ledge on the pendulum behind the clock, thus altering the position of its centre of gravity."
(I haven't made it through all the comments so I'm not sure if this has been noted before.)
Please keep up this incredible series!
You are INCREDIBLY kind! Thank you for your support and for sharing extra wonderful information in the comments! I'm so glad you're here ❤️
I went through all of your videos in two days and thoroughly enjoyed every single one of them. The humor cracks me up, and the summaries of the videos feel complete and satisfying. All of your hard work is appreciated and enjoyed, thank you!
Aww, thank you very much for your kindness ❤️
Wow this one is literally as long as the episode, I'm gonna go grab some snacks and a beer for this one!
Well... almost as long ❤️ It is as long as a regular Columbo episode but not quite as long as Dagger of the Mind.
I really love this series of your. Thanks so much!
I'm so happy you are enjoying them ❤️
I love your deep dives into Columbo. There is so much info you go into. Your Voice, flows so nicely . Your wit,dry humour are outstanding.

I love your dry, deadpan delivery and sense of humour. Binged all of these Deep Dives in a week.
I really appreciate that, thank you :)
As a 40-year book publisher, author, and literary agent, I could tell you that the condition of a book is EVERYTHING. And a first edition Alice in Wonderland would we worth over $20,000 today if the book was in near mint or at least VERY FINE condition!
It is wild to think how valuable some things have become!
As a used book dealer, I cringed when they smashed the 1st edition Alice on the table with the spine splayed open. Oh man!
Another well done video. I truly enjoy watching your work. These videos are very informative and very detailed. You seem to hit every note. Thank you for taking the time to make them and post them. God bless. I look forward to the next one.
Thank you very much! Your comment is a great encouragement ❤️
I'm in absolute LOVE with the scene you drew! Best part ever!

Awwww, thank you very much, Becky!!!
Excellent excellent. Your research impeccable your attention to details is on match. Your voice is consistent your humor is controller and tasteful well done
Thank you very much, your comment is extremely kind and encouraging :)
There are still many living Columbo actors ❤️
Also, thank you for your kindness 😊
@@WatchitforDays😄 Next time just insert clip of alien from Spaceballs singing & dancing, that oughta shut up anyone from saying Sarah Bernhardt over & over😆 Now I know why it takes you a month to do these. You examine every scene, every detail. I find myself doing the same now with future eps. We need a meme of you & the Lt. that says: Columbo's Little Helper🕵️♀️
"..oh, yeah, ...the banister got me," 😁😆😃... Your videos are entertaining, informative, hilarious and so well dialogued.
Another old fashioned expression pertaining to this episode is "busman's holiday" - a vacation during which one engages in activity that is similar to one's usual work.
How interesting! That is new to me :)
There was a gameshow years ago called Busman's Holiday.
Indeed. Columbo was on one!
I'm surprsed by how entertaining these videos are, and I think it's a beautiful thing to sheld light on all these often forgotten small part actors.
I'm so happy you enjoy them :)
Kent, I agree. They are the secret sauce as it were.

Super long review, but luckily it didn't feel as long as the original episode :) . Love it when you include your drawings. Thanks for all the details you find.
SO HAPPY!! Love your reviews, this will get watched on the big screen tonight, as I'm more excited for this, than a new Marvel movie.... THANKS!!

Welcome back, and Thank you for yet a brand new Columbo episode.
I hope you enjoy it!
I was just discussing a current show with a friend and said if Columbo taught me anything it's that you never try to blackmail a killer. So funny you mentioned that.
That's right! 😊
Another amazing review. Always packed with great nuggets of info & now awesome drawings. Thanks for all your hard work. Love this review!
Aww, thank you very much! You're so encouraging ❤️
Oh yay!! I was planning on finishing a project today…but instead I’m watching this 😂❤❤
I'm so happy you are here! Now finish your project❤️
Your episodes bring such depth to the series, and I am torn between which I prefer more. A Columbo episode, or one of your deep dives. Most excellent.
It's ok to prefer both ❤️ Thank you for being here, Bob
Snow is falling, and I have this to look forward to possibly snowed in. Yay!
Thank you very much, Ocrilat ❤️ We had lots of snow yesterday but its already melting.
@@WatchitforDays Yeah weird winter this year. Southern California got snow. And I'm talking to my buddy in Hawaii and he's telling me its been weirdly overcast and rainy. Here it's cold then warm, snow then rain. The last major snowstorm we had a weird 'hole' over the city...it snowed all around us (N,S,E,W) but we got nada.
You are amazing! I love watching these Colombo‘s through your informative, insightful and dry sense of humor, review, and analysis of
each episode. I have course. Can’t wait until you get to some of my really favorite episodes like troubled waters a friend indeed Colombo goes to college…
But like anything in life it really is the process and the journey and not just a destination so thank you so much and I appreciate all your hard work … it definitely helps me feel better about getting the RUclips premium😊
What an encouragement your comment is! Thank you for sharing a couple of your favorite episodes 😊 It'll definitely be a journey as we go through Columbo together ❤️
I loved the fact that the first murder wasn't even really a murder. A total accident that wouldn't even be manslaughter. If they just told the police right away I'm sure nothing would have happened to them.
It's true, very unusual
Then there'd be no show. Lol .
Imagine if every episode there was a murder and the killer just said to Columbo "I did it, I killed the b*stard and I'm glad".
5 minute episodes and 2 minute deep dive reviews.
Only kidding
It was the curse of Macbeth!
Thank you Watch it! Your presentations are so enjoyable. The skills in your writing, editing, and narration, plus the time that you give to share with us those skills, is truly appreciated.
You are wonderfully kind! Thank you very much❤️
LOVE LOVE LOVE this summary. Finally a reviewer who ties the tragedy of Macbeth into this couples' tragic path into murder and madness, and still realizes there is much light hearted parody and fun to be had here. I agree that the more I watch this one, the more I appreciate the subtleties I have missed. My memory of my mother the Shakespearean scholar thanks you too...
Awww, I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed it ❤️ That's amazing your mother became a Shakespeare scholar, wow!

Yay another video. I think “since father’s day” just is an expression like “in my day we had to walk 10 miles to school on the snow” 😊
Ah that makes sense, thank you 😊
He's saying that the club has not changed from the time that his dad was a member there. So, not changed in a generation.
We English talk funny 😆
I agree with you
Lots of the show could been 1930s or 1950s. They no longer have those 1970s sideburns and moustaches, at least...
wow....great recaps, such detail with explanations and actor histories.....nothing else like your site out there...thank you so much
can you the same with "Foundation"? the hardest show to follow on tv Again, I salute you!
