Growing up as a child when Columbo first aired, I never understood why anyone would watch a show when you knew who committed the murder from the outset. But when I watched Columbo in my late teens and 20's, it made me realise how ingenious the script was. It was not about the murder, it was about the tiniest bits of evidence that many of us would overlook. One of the greatest tv police series every made, with a great lead actor
Agreed. When you see the murderers motive, watch them commit the murder and form their alibi, its much more intense as you witness Columbo systematically pick it all apart and eventually collar the perp. There were only a few episodes where i thought they kinda cheated with Columbos discovery of certain clues, but the acting and film quality was always top notch.
Same here. The show debuted a few months before I was born so i was still only a little child when the original series ended. I would watch it with my mom but didn’t understand why she loved the show. It wasn’t until my 20’s when i was home on leave & my mom was watching some of the reruns so I wanted a few with her that I began to pickup on some of the finer details of the show.
McGoohan with his careful planning and Robert Culp with his barely contained seething anger were my two favorite villains. (with a big nod to Johnny Cash and his homemade parachute 👏)
Whenever I see Mr. McGoohan, I always yell “Steinmetz!” 😂. He has spoiled us Columbo fans with his acting and directorial talents. The on screen chemistry he and Mr. Falk shared was absolutely delightful.
@@lisawilliams2013Those are some of my favorite Columbo villains also, Lisa, & I have 3 more on my list….Donald Pleasance, Ruth Gordon & Robert Vaughn. Pleasance is my all-time favorite, as is that episode Any Old Port in a Storm.👍
I always liked the fact that Falk liked McGoohan so much. I've been a fan of McGoohan since Ice Station Zebra and The Prisoner. Then I found him in my favorite show Columbo and loved him even more. I also feel that this episode, the Academy one, highlighted Mr. Falk's acting ability and the character's problem-solving skills better than any other episode. At least in my humble opinion.
I've been binge watching my Columbo dvds this weekend, so love them, Patrick McGoohan always one of my favourite guest stars, great actor and very attractive.
When i was in Budapest Hungary. I saw an amazing statue of columbo with his dog . Apparently, his name "Falk" is hungarian, and the show is loved in Hungary.
Patrick McGoohan and Mr Falk, were like a house on fire, I mean its such a pleasure to see them talk, its too perfect. Thank you for the legacy you have left for generations to come, with your talent for us to enjoy.🤩
That was one huge glaring hole in the story. A brilliant man, carefully planning a murder, and then carefully leaving a huge clue behind. Even before DNA it is stupid to think that leaving your teeth imprints and saliva at a murder scene would be untraceable. Not Patrick's fault, just poor writing. He was absolutely my favorite villain!!! The episodes with him, Culp and Cassidy are all my favorite episodes. So much talent was hired on that show.
Man patrick in Agenda for Murder was so ruthless and suave about the whole planning in his office the setup with the bullet and foil paper was so fascinating, one of the few later episodes which definitely matched up to the old
Watching this show made me realize I'm brilliant. So many people claim this is a good show, and Columbo is smart the way he gets the criminal. However, I generally had it solved from the very start, knew who the killer was and even how the killer did it and tried to cover it up.
I always thought it was kinda ironic that as the initial 70s run of the show was generally better than the later episodes, the two from the reboot starring Patrick McGoohan were better than the ones he starred in from the 70s. In my humble opinion, of course.
The only problem was he had already said, earlier in the episode, that he had never been there. In this clip, he stated, in front of four police officers, that he had NEVER been there. Thus, the next question is why did you lie sir? What time were you there sir? How did you get there sir? Columbo already destroyed his alibi.
I solved a murder when I was only 20 years of age. husband kills wife. -because I see these shows ? The jury's still out . Forensic theory med school student , morgue duty because I was late to class ... They say I hit a home run. Everybody wanted to grab the credit.
I'd take the chewing gum impression evidence into court as a defendant and so would a defense lawyer. There's no way a jury is going to convict on a murder charge based on evidence of a bite mark on chewing gum; gum is rubbery and the impression left would be manipulated.

I liked those eagle eyed spotting of the give away clues
McGoohan with his careful planning and Robert Culp with his barely contained seething anger were my two favorite villains.
(with a big nod to Johnny Cash and his homemade parachute 👏)
Patrick Magoohan was masterful in these Columbo episodes spanning decades
Whenever I see Mr. McGoohan, I always yell “Steinmetz!” 😂.
He has spoiled us Columbo fans with his acting and directorial talents. The on screen chemistry he and Mr. Falk shared was absolutely delightful.
Number 6 for ever.
😂😂
Yes! Same here!
As much as I love Culp and Cassidy, McGoohan might be my fave. He also shadow cowrote episodes of Columbo!

By Dawn's Early Light was one of the best episodes of the show, and a lot of it was due to McGoohan's performance

He's Number 6, you know. Tell us all you know!

FALK is german and means " hawk"
Jewish extraction, his father was russian/polish, mother hungarian/slovakian.
@@alexanderemese6083There’s an E missing: der Falke.

If only he’d eaten the rest of the cheese 😂
Who doesn't eat all the cheese?
Moe, Larry, the cheese!
😂
I don't think it's that, I think he thought he wouldn't caught for you see nobody else notice the bite from the cheese but Columbo

Patrick McGoohan won his Second Emmy for this performance
His first...1975 episode of Columbo
By Dawn's Early Light
No coincidence all the McGoohan ones are amongst the most memorable. Honourable mentions to Culp and Cassidy but Patrick is my fav.
Wow so very well said. I can never get enough of all three!
Man patrick in Agenda for Murder was so ruthless and suave about the whole planning in his office the setup with the bullet and foil paper was so fascinating, one of the few later episodes which definitely matched up to the old
The music on all these episodes was so good.
By dawns early light great episode the 70’s columbo episodes were superb.
McGoohan is 1 of my favorite actors.....he wos superb in the columbos.

But he always got caught. Didn't learn from his mistakes.
❤❤❤❤ Patrick Mcgoohan is super actor ❤❤
This series was 👏👏👏
Number Six always did a great job.
He is NOT a number. He is a FREE MAN!

I just bought the Blu Ray boxset, can't wait to go through the entire series for nth time.
You call that a lining….ha….ha…..hahahahahaha.😂
Thank you ❤
Cassidy, Culp & McGoohan - the ultimate Columbo villains! Still, McGoohan's my favorite by a hair
Right there with you
😂😂😂The dreaded cider 🍺 did him in 😂
Please upload for part 2 ❤❤❤
It's impossible for me not to hope that Patrick gets away with everything he plans!
Be seeing you Columbo 😉👌
What you should have saved is yes I have been in his house but just to eat and talk

Favorites👍
British Impressionist Phil Cool as Mcgoohan and Kevin Pollak as Falk could make a great modern Columbo sketch.

Throwing evidence in trash bins outside the murder scene?

Patrick would have made a great James Bond. Great actor❤👍
Danger Man lives. But please : lose the moustache
I have to wonder what the point of putting on gloves was after he had already picked up the gun with his bare hands and put fingerprints on it.
To avoid prints on magazine and bullet.
ASMR anyone?
All he had to do was finish the cheese XD Finger foods, indicting criminals since the 70s
omg.....
(spoiler)
the teeth and the cheese.....
only colombo would go THAT deep
Mistake. He shot him on the left but put the gun in his right hand. That's the same thing that happened to Vince Foster with the Clintons.
Great episodes with Patrick. I wish they had more logical endings though. Scheesh.
i am not a number
"Peoples are Peoples"
Was married to Olympia Dukakis
Patricks characters really like to play with that gun powder huh?
👍👍👍
He is like my teacter 😂 a murder.

What a bunch of bullshit. No way they get bite mark off of gun.
More like Patrick McGoon
always hated mc goohan
Dullards usually do hate him.
Patrick Mcgoohan was the best Columbo murderer.
I also like R Culp.
Donald Pleasence is number one for me
