  • The construction of the final landfill cell at Stotts Creek Resource and Recovery Centre was completed in May 2022.
The development and completion of the cell is part of Tweed Recycling and Landfill Centre Master Plan which aims to improve the layout and site design for users.
This new cell will hold about 11,071 collection trucks of waste (that's equal to about 25 collection trucks placing waste in the land everyday for a year). That's a lot of waste that will be thrown 'away'.
With current community waste behaviour, it will only have about a 5 to 6 year 'lifespan'. The life of this could be extended if less goes to landfill.
