I think we’re talking apples to oranges because Billy is more of an acoustic guitar guy obviously is extremely good at electric, but Derek is a lifelong electric player so I don’t think it’s a good comparison as far as chops go more of just a Vybz thing I would say
@@YachtRockFiend not sure they had time to rehearse with Derek, Trey and Page played an extra benefit set not long before they went on the mainstage. Also, not sure Derek would really need much rehearsal time. You tell either of those guys what key the song is, and they will kill it. Derek could probably pick up on modal shifts and things more easily, given his background, and based on every time I've seen him sit in with someone, he tore the roof off the place pretty much instantly, just like he did at SPAC on his first notes. And like he did in Charlotte in 1999.
Comparing BS and DT sit-ins seems pointless. Both are incredible musicians. As Phish phans, we are blessed to witness improvisational collaboration at this level. 🙏 Very few musicians have what it takes to confidently step onstage and jam with Phish in 2024.

Derek Trucks show was much better than BS, simply because Derek Trucks has god level chops.
Both have"God level" chops. But they rehearsed with Derek. For Billy it was just spur of the moment, no rehearsal therefore not that great.
