Great review, but some of the track on the layout looks like the passengers might as well be sitting in a rollercoaster.

    Lovely review.
Would love an update on the layout as the track seems to have moved a bit so would be good to understand why - there's no shame in this as it's how we learn!

Very simply put, the heat this summer has warped a few joints. In regards to an update one is coming as the bridge has arrived. 😁

@@hornbymag Ah fantastic news. Very sorry to hear that. I heck of a lot of work went into it. I wonder if adding some small 60ft cuts at strategic points which are then wired may help going forward?

Thanks chaps. The kinematic coupling is indeed a nice bit of design, but hardly new: I first came across it on Rôwa coaches and then Roco coaches in the 1970s and 1980s. I wonder if Hornby have been waiting for a trademark or something to lapse?

When Richard gets an original InterCity MK4 set you could legitimately run it with a large logo class 47 as shown in the channel 4 documentary when the class 91 locomotives were withdrawn due to the snow.

Would be great to see a layout with catenary - seems to be hard to make the tension on the wire look convincing in 00 gauge. There's a market there is someone (throat clearing) can figure it out!

I also have the GNER class 91 117 and 5 mk4 coaches, plus I'm missing the last 4 coaches to make a 11 car unit with the mk4 dvt at the other end.

An OO9 Fiji locomotive. Fiji, that 0-6-0 Narrow Gauge tender engine, Hudswell Clarke works No. 972. That 0-6-0 Narrow Gauge Tender engine that is at the Stat fold Barn Railway.

Track really suffered this year. Did you leave gaps and did you lay yours in the heat?. I always advise to never lay track in the winter or Autumn months.

Question is, will there be a Eurostar set in GNER livery as used to run?
As for livery, any BR livery was better than the private but paid for with public money trains. Reason? The simple system of colour coding stripe above the windows denoting, first class, standard or restaurant/buffet car. This made it simple to identify coaches when boarding.

Hornby done one ,The white rose set I managed to get one but that was 2004/5 I imagine now it would have to be eBay but not cheap

What on Earth happened to the track??!! I'm guessing heat damage from this past summer.
If I'm correct, I'd say Richard has been waiting for a new 91, Mk4 set and DVT for roughly..... 30 years?
In all seriousness, the entire train just looks incredible and has also arrived just in time for Rails' class 89 which ran with GNER for a short time.

I'm having a nightmare with a GNER 91 & DVT with new tooling coupling issue and a single mk4 coach running on 2nd radius. All three coupler but I'm unhappy that the coach coupling seem like a different height, is that by design? When reversing then driving forward the DVT decouplers and leaves behind the DVT. Switching coach around I get the same issue and again with loco. I've tested with old gner coach tooling and same issue, £200 for x3 coaches and still can't get the full train to run properly. Any ideas on what might be happening. I have a small 6ft x4ft layout with 2nd radius throughout. 43, 67 no problem. Standard coupling in place so not bar so could try that. My loco will be reverse pulling Intercity Coaches so could use rod on one end and coupler on other.

I know this is not about this video.but I am going to make a 009 end to end heritage layout and I'm not shore what points to use as there all different sharpness. Like is the Pecos set track points to sharp for a return loop and if so which one is best to use thanx all 🤠

Are they bring out the other 2 coaches for the full pride 390 class? As it’s an 11 car set as they only have it as a 9 car set or do u have to get 2 of the same coaches and have to paint them different colours as that’s going to cost more money on top of the 2 extra chia h u have to get?

    • @hornbymag
      @hornbymag  Год назад

Two of the coaches are different on each side, so while you do by multiples of the same coach, you can complete the set.

The dvt is nearly as bad as the mk3 dvt which was the most embarrassing Hornby product, (with a lot of competition), that Hornby have produced , there are huge mistakes on the inter-city mk4 dvt which is why Hornby are rock bottom in the market now

i know you won't reply to this comment because you seem to only reply to the positive ones, However its time someone explained what the hell is happening with these model prices. £200 for an irrelevant 91 LOCO not train LOCO also £400 for a HST power car and dummy car is outrages. Time it changes

They still have that Hornby toy look, not that impressed and quite sure Cavalex would have done a much better job.
