    Alchemists are probably the most involved class to play, but with proper research it’s one of the most versatile and powerful support classes in the game; especially from level 7 onwards once you start getting a lot more reagents.

      Honestly, better as a multiclass. For 1 feat you get you level in reagents. If you were an alchemist, you would get lvl+int. At lvl 10 assuming max int the multiclass character would have 10 reagents a day and a alchemist would have 15 reagents per a day. However, the multiclass character is still a fighter or a barbarian or a wizard. The alchemist is only an alchemist.

    The "Day in the life of an Alchemist" is a super interesting idea for a class guide video. Would love to see it for more class vids in the future!

      Thanks so much! We will be incorporating it into each of our PF2E class videos.

    Now with treasure vault released, the amount of stuff you have available right at level 1 as a alchemist is insane. Really good stuff.
    My only problem with alchemist is the little amount of reagents available at lower levels, but if you have enough downtime you can really make use of that new crafting rules to make up for that

      Struggling real hard to not buy that Treasure Vault book. But it looks soooooo good!

      @@BasicLiches two words; Cooperative Waffles
      Two more words; Lozenge Trait
      Treasure Vault gives enough items to make a chef Alchemist. Also I told my D&D DM friend about the Lozenge trait, and he said he wanted to adapt it for potion lozenges in D&D. Where you get a benefit from just having these lozenge in your mouth, but can also bite down on it to get a different bonus.
      For example, there's alchemical bubble gum you can chew to get some resistance to Sonic damage. But you can also blow a bubble to deal a cone of sonic damage, and slow down enemies as bits of bubble gum stick to them.

    The Alchemist is the "soccer mom" class. Every morning they hand out juice boxes and snacks to the rest of the party and always have a little something extra should the situation necessitate it.

    Day in the life was super fun. The alchemist is such an incredible support class but you as so right that you aren't ever going to be the star of the show. Starting each day by handing out items to your party mates and being mindful of targeting enemy weakness with quick crafting. It can be a lot but with huge payoffs if you put in the time to poor over your options. The biggest noob trap is trying to play only one type of alchemist. Like ONLY crafting bombs or ONLY health potions. No matter what type of specialist you are be sure to pull from every type of useful item.
    This video was great! Looking forward to the Barbarian. :)

    I'm gm-ing an anchemist, and it's so easy to give him flavorful "micro side quests" where he can shine. And it's not forced at all! It's a realy good class to gm!

    I am about to start playing an Alchemist in a new P2E campaign. Was a bit discouraged by a lot of talk on the web about Alchemist being bad or even the worst class. This video gave me hope, thanks. I poured a lot of time into prepping the small amount of resources I have at level 1. your day in a life section is a great idea, though that was more of a day in the life of a lvl 5 alchemist, 8 formulas and 5 or 6 batches of infused reagents at the beginning are not that many, I don't feel like I can afford to spend formulas on cognitive mutagens or arsen, there is more basic stuff we need (a few basic bombs, the quicksilver mutagen, elixirs of life etc.). But eventually I hope I can be the swiss army knife this class seems to be able to be.

    • @BasicLiches
      @BasicLiches  Год назад +2

      Very true...the Alchemist really has to juggle their limited resources at level 1. But eventually you buy more formulas and gain more infused reagents each day...and the options open up! Have fun with your alchemist and thanks for watching.

    im going to be playing an alchemist in an upcoming campaign (extinction curse) he runs a "food truck" style restaurant/bar type thing and ive taken the poison focused "subclass" but the poisons are refluffed as various alcohols (mechanically no difference), were also testing out the free archetype variant rule with the caveat that its for flavour not power (GM decides if we fulfill this)
    i opted to go for juggler so i can juggle potions, throwing knives laced w/ alcohol and potions its not optimal but its a fun archetype w/ alchemist...im also picking up inventor multi-class with class feats mainly to pick up gadgets...really trying to push the "problem solver" aspect of alchemist even further.
    Oh and even though im not really planning to use it i found out theres a "frying pan" weapon so i bought one simply so i have it...it was so perfect...i was also originally going to use a weapon called "Filcher's Fork" cause well fork but sadly its less fork and more like a two-pronged trident...a duodent if you will which i can't juggle.
    Needless to say i'm super excited :D

    It might be worth mentioning that you’re only talking core rule book for subclasses to avoid confusion.

    As long as you're willing to think ahead for the day you can become super powerful.
    If you know you're going to a cold area you can bring some alchemists fire, if you're going to have a bunch of diplomacy do silver-tongued mutagen, if you're the dedicated healer bring a ton of life elixirs, etc

    I had to consider my life choices when I was like “oh you wouldn’t want to use arsenic for that, it’s too fast acting and would keep the person from being able to speak properly.” There’s a reason that “miasma” is part of my brand.

    This class unfortunately has a terrible reputation between the Pf2 community, the major reason being not getting Master proficiency in its attack rolls (it stays like a spellcaster), even though the armor and saving throws evolve like any Martial, it's a jack of all trades instead of a specialized character - people hate it.
    Saying that I can tell that I've been playing Alchies for almost 2 years now, it's my favorite class and it's not bad as people think it is, it's not what most people expect/want it to be. The versatility of this class is amazing, unlike spellcasters tho, the buffs and debuffs aren't shining like spells and often get obfuscated by it, altho it wins in consistency - what spellcasters can do just a few times a day, Alchies can do A LOT. Alchies are more buffers/debuffers than damage dealers
    I honestly love this class, it's been my favorite since I started playing Pf2.

    Alchemist has problems if your party doesn't work with you. They need to take their potions and once your out of stuff to do, they gotta let you rest since you do even less than a caster once your out of stuff and you don't fix that issue until 7.
    Why paizo didn't give you 1 'cantrip' I don't know

    • @BasicLiches
      @BasicLiches  Год назад

      It will be interesting to see what Paizo does with this class now that they've announced new core rule books. From what we've seen the Alchemist is getting completely "reworked". So expect an update to this video sometime next year lol.
