I have tried to Tap on the link and it keeps booting me out. It's probably my phone. But im definitely intrested! Do I still get a free 1 month of skillshare since I tapped on the link but keeps booting me out?
Man! That sucks about your van. I'm sorry to hear that. I know how hard you worked on it and put everything you had into it only to find out you have an expensive van that you not only can't work on but they dont know what's wrong with it and so now you have a van that only starts when it wants. I've heard from other youtube videos about Van's like yours has to be taken to the dealership and how they have a lot of problems. I hope something shakes for ya and I hope you figure out what's wrong with your van. Definitely keep us posted!
I love seeing your relationship with your mom! It's such a refreshing thought... you can actually be doing your own things and just being close to each other. No "filler talk" while reading a book and enjoying it. (hope that makes sense) Just made me smile and had to tell you how amazing you both are! Happy travels!!
The next time it doesnt start in PARK, try shifting it to NEUTRAL, and try starting it. If it starts in NEUTRAL, and not in PARK, its a very good chance its your "neutral safety switch"
Yes. This. On a promaster it may not be called a neutral safety switch. It’s basically part of the starting circuit that prevents you from starting when the car is in drive or reverse. It could also be the relay in that starting circuit.
For anyone who has factory swivel seats, just know that there is a safety feature where the van wont start if it is not FULLY locked in the front facing position. We freaked out when our van wouldnt start... but that particular issue was such a relief to figure out.
Ok.. I have to share. I hope this helps you and others. I have a 2019 Ram Promaster 2500. 1st van ever. The cig lighter was out, I use it for my Garmin, just because. So I figured out with you tube I needed to change a fuse. Got some, did that. Went to start it the key wouldn't turn! The steering wheel locked. 2 hours later, I foundca video with a suggestion. I had to take the key out and hit the key thing with a rubber mallet 3 times! Put the key in, started right up. Wth! Hope this helps. Love your videos! They are helping this 61 yo first timer build out my van, all by myself! 😀
I just love how you take all the challenges, van-related or life-related, and you always keep a smile on your face and love in your heart! Life is always perfect - and as single mom for the past 14 years… dealing with some health issues… I work hard to teach my girls to never give up, and take things one day at a time. No matter what it is, we’ll figure things out!
My pro master 2018 had 2 wires melted in a wiring harness by the exhaust manifold. Found using an inspection mirror and found out its been a common problem on the pro masters.
Your transmission issue is not related to your no start issue. There's a fuse panel in your engine compartment called the TIPM. It has relays built inside that fail and solder connections that crack.
Some friends and I visited Washington Island about 7 years ago. Then, they didn't allow dogs to visit the island so I had to board my dog at a kennel outside of Egg Harbor. It was located in a barn and had the faint smell of urine. Glad you didn't have to board your dogs. Very neat island. We only spent the day there.
Loved how in the video you and Akela went in the lake and Akela said, nope, too cold for me and left you standing there in the lake. So funny. What a great campsite you and your mom had. Years ago I camped in a similar wooded site up in the UP of Michigan, right on Lake Michigan. Lord, I miss those days! Sounds like Togo has a mind of it's own, hope you find the problem. As always, looking forward to your next video.
They say things come in three’s. You just might be an overachiever. LOL. My first step would be to find out where the leak was. Trani fluid doesn’t just disappear. It doesn’t just evaporate. If you can’t find a leak then the other dealership or mechanic after their diagnosis didn’t replace the fluid so you’ve been running the transmission hot. This will lead to costly damage to the transmission. Go to AAMCO if you can. Your dealership isn’t able. It could even be something as simple as loose/faulty wiring or a module of some sort with everything that it’s been through. We can only hope. Mechanic free dreams and cheers from Canader eh!
I had a car that would do that. After spending lots of money and having it happen randomly; I discovered that the starter solenoid connecter had a broken piece. (visualize Tom Hanks when he made fire). I also like a previous comment concerning the neutral safety switch. I have had to replace that as well.
Love that you and your mom went camping together as a Michigander (born and raised) seeing the lake and all of those tree's made me homesick though. I'm thinking about buying and building out a van and I was thinking about a dodge pro master but now having second thoughts after seeing all the issues that you have with yours.
I love that your mom loves to camp with you. It inspires me as I lost my outdoor-lovin husband earlier this year and your van build vlogs inspired me to do a build. Planning on coming to CO for your Gutted event!
I love to see you and your mom having some you time together with your dogs, the crash of the waves and that thunder storm your very good at editing and filming your a natural so thanks for sharing love it take care all of you💖
My daughter had a mini cooper that would do the same thing. She actually had to park it in the sun for it to start...Needless to say, they could never tell her what the problem was, but it was dangerous because it stopped running several tines when she was on the highway 😳. She traded it in and now has a new hybrid car that she loves 😀
Even if I hadn't looked at Stella first I could've told you she was a husky mix by that whine for attention 😂 I'm sorry you're having van troubles! I hope they get resolved (and stay that way) soon!
I hope you never get stranded, after all the work you put into it, might be worth having them delve a bit deeper. Look into wiring issues or electrical. I love watching you, and I've worked at dealerships for the last 13 years, please see if someone can help you out.
Well, at least you're getting in some needed family time. Great trip with your mom. I'd say the van issue is something electrical but electrical is tough to pin down - put on a blindfold, grab a dart and throw it at a map of the U.S trying to hit Rhode Island. If you tied any of your van work into the electrical of the van I would start there - a reverse engineering process. If that all checks out it's one less thing and on to the next. Great video! Thanks for taking us along for the ride! Jeff says "HI" to Akela!
Check out recalls for your van to see if anything comes up for it. Hope you get to the bottom of the issue so you wont worry about getting stranded. Good luck with it.
I just found your channel and have been watching your older videos. I think it's awesome how adventurist your entire family are also, I love in Michigan and the area your in looks so similar.
I had an issue with that happening to a vehicle of mine before. For some reason the security features on the vehicle would keep it from starting. It wouldn't even crank. Got it looked at and had a new remote programmed and haven't had any issues since.
I may be wrong but sometimes when you do things as "simple" as topping off your transmission fluid or changing it, if any wires or connections were messed with sometimes they have a relay & that will cause your vehicle to not start right away. I've had this happen to me before. I may not be explaining this correctly (using correct terminology) but I'm just passing along info that I have having this happen to me a few times.
I had a similar problem with the mustang. It actually ended up being a relay. It was underneath the driver seat. Over time it had gotten wet and corroded. So it would not engage properly all the time. I can’t tell you two years never knowing where you would get stuck. Once I learned it was the relay I replaced it. Car worked fine. But all the parts I changed was ridiculous. You would think the dealership would be better at their job. But they’re just not. I would check relays that have anything to do with your situation. I hope you get it figured out I’m worried about you.
Try a Thermacell for the mosquitos. I use them all the time. I put in my van or tent before going to bed and the mosquitos vacate the area within minutes. Once they are gone you can turn it off as long as they have no way to enter. I love your videos by the way. Almost done with my build. I've never built anything before and this is coming out amazing.
Door county is my homeland, I've spent lots of time on the island growing up! So awesome to have found a van lifer that lives close to me. I'm loving your videos!
Me and my son were just at Washington Island on a whim the weekend of July 17th. I just missed you and the family, ha ha. Hopefully next time. Someday it'll be cool to cross paths with you and Akela. I hope you enjoyed WI. 🧡🧀 I'll be checking out Rock Island soon, I heard there's good camping there. 😊👍 thank you for all the footage of the beautiful environment there, especially the Madonna ferry. We rode the same one, very cool story behind that ferry. Take care.
call transmission unlimited in houston texas area an tell the reader code /if you could take it to their shop /they will fix it an no more problems/ask them to recomend a transmission shop in the area you are in /they know what will be wrong/anyway like you an your mom having fun/thanks much
About your Promaster starting issue, when the dealer finds nothing "wrong", they may be correct in as much as what was checked. I would look at 2 other possible causes. 1. Do you have anything near the key that could cause RF noise? The Key Fob is a transmitter and its possible a wireless device could make it confused and the ignition will not function. RF leakage from poor quality signal boosters, etc can be a tough one to track down. Vehicle faults for an intermittent no crank condition usually become more frequent, of fail completely. If it happens again, turn off all the electronics that did not come from FCA. Probably should wait 15 minutes and try again. If no luck, try #2. 2. I assume you have a second Key Fob. If it happens again try the spare.
I'll bet the problems in the steering callum or one of your wires is not the gage it should be. I had a similar issue with my ford 250 and it turned out to be a wire that was the wrong gage. Bigger is better. As for a quick fix, you could ask a custom shop to make you up a jump start switch with a button you can push.
hi Linnea ! I read some of the suggestions . It’s frustrating that the dealership would not know all these things to checkout at the rate they charge per hour ...also that it was starting again until they added fluid ..unless you have a leak which the previous dealership should have noticed ..Maybe they forgot to refill after work..anyway you are such a nice person to have to deal with this again and again. I am sure you have concerns about being stranded way out somewhere . I hope the van is permanently repaired soon . Be safe . I know you will .
How frustrating about not knowing why the van randomly de idea to stop. Glad you take it all in stride! Love your videos, great filming and editing work☺️
Thanks for offering the link! Looking forward to learning more about woodworking for my van build! And fun fact - in Louisiana (where I’m from) we call them Crawfish aka Crawdaddies aka Mudbugs!

It is so good to see how Akela “watches your back.” Great team. Can’t wait to meet you at Gutted.
Love your videos-so peaceful and captures the essence of a trip so well. You have a talent for this!
What a great memory to have with your mom, I lost mine when I was 13. Enjoy

Some people are just made for being on camera ❤👏👏🤳
12.30 that's way you always want a t4 maximum! Nothing above!
Wonderful memories with your mother.
50.000!! Well done Linnea.
Nice to meeting your mom

Hope to never see the stranded series!😵 Thank you for instilling in me the fact that I can do this too, I adore you guys!
So glad you had those beautifully relaxing days with your mum before you had to deal with another van headache😉

As you an Akela, your van also has it's own personality..... such is life ;-)
I love Rock and Washington Islands - used to vacation there when I was a kid.
Don’t you just love that sound of rain while sleeping.
Love it…yep
So beautiful to see the bond between you and Akela. I’m so jealous of the idyllic life you live in your van with you pup.
I just found your channel and have been watching your older videos. I think it's awesome how adventurist your entire family are also, I love in Michigan and the area your in looks so similar.
Rock Island is my favorite place to camp in Wisconsin... something about that island. Some great memories there!

One of my favorite places in Door County!!!!
You have to have a bad ground. Or a bad ignition switch.
Have someone check your ignition!! Sounds like what happened to be several years ago. Also lessen the number of keys on your keychain!!
Please check your camera White Balancing settings. It produces more green color tone.
I used to go on this same exact ferry! So crazy seeing WI from your side!
Door county is my homeland, I've spent lots of time on the island growing up! So awesome to have found a van lifer that lives close to me. I'm loving your videos!

Congrats on 50k!!
Oh my goodness! There has to be a loose wire somewhere!
Random, but I loved your hair in the last bit of the video!
So excited yawning
Just found your channel and then I see you are from d.c.
‘Hello!’ From Green Bay Area
Awesome trip and its sucks your van is misbehaving... love your vibes and your videography is awesome!
Hope you get all your van issues fixed
What a nice trip with your mom how blessed you both are
Your camping trip looked lovely. Sorry about your van. I had a Dodge van once. Never again.
Sorry to hear about the troubles with Togo!
Amazing 🙏
Oooh linnea. you have my luck 🇦🇺
Beware of ticks and Lyme disease
Whoa.. I grew up in beautiful Door County!!
How frustrating about not knowing why the van randomly de idea to stop. Glad you take it all in stride! Love your videos, great filming and editing work☺️
Beautiful camping spot!!
I’ve been camping along Lake Superior for the last 4 days. Big storm came thru Friday night.
Thanks for offering the link! Looking forward to learning more about woodworking for my van build! And fun fact - in Louisiana (where I’m from) we call them Crawfish aka Crawdaddies aka Mudbugs!
Maybe we should tag the van company itself? 🤔 see if they'll help with their faulty design.
yay
Have you ever done any research on the issue with your van online? Having vehicles myself with issues over the years, sometimes someone online with a certain thought/idea may trigger your mechanic to think in another direction. Good luck!!
Hope you get the issue resolved with the van , I just started a van build with a transit 250 , getting all the outside work done before winter
I empathize with your problem. I am so ahead of scheduled with my videos but right now I am in the north-east of the US and I sort of stranded because of random transmission problems. It is frustrating, I hope the dealership is working on figuring out what your van's issue is.
Rewatching it is like downloading feelings templates. Like reassuming a state of mind. I should not.
Aw dang so sorry hope it's not a big deal, Such fine times with your mom, enjoy enjoy enjoy.
Makes me very concerned about my 2019 Promaster build that I'm currently doing right now!😳
Me too! I am in the process of buying one and a taxi driver lectured me about the electrical issues of Dodge/Ram. I know that Fords have MANY issues tho (being raised around those) and so don't want a Transit, and Sprinters are even more fickle with repairs because of the exclusivity of Mercedes... oy, fingers crossed!
check the 2 earth straps they give trouble on these vans
So annoying these engine issues! I hope it will be solved soon
OMG! Not again! I’m so sorry…I know how frustrating that can be, from first hand knowledge. Praying for answers & your continued safety. Hugs to Akela! 💕
Lov how u and mom are close and camping would love to do that with my daughter, sorry hear about the van email or check online see if ther wer any recalls for that year and model.
It’s time to buy a new van!!!
I had this issue and the keys getting stuck and had to change the battery terminals. It fixed it . I hope it goes that easy for you! 🤷🏼♀️
Love Washington island. It's 1 1/2 hours from me
Oh Linnea... I’m sorry. It must be so frustrating with another repair 😤
