    Instablock is a lot of fun to use. There's only one monster that it truly sucks to use against and that's the mass of butt nuggets that is any form of Bazelgeuse. There are a lot of times his random movements can drag you over a nugget you weren't prepared for. He's very easy to fight for the most part if you're willing to time your openings but trying to force openings with insta block and other counters just often gets you hit unfortunately. However his hit zones are soo meaty that even getting blown up a time or 2 to crack off a couple cross slashes is more than worth it.

    • @jyugwat2952
      @jyugwat2952  Год назад +3

      Yes this is unfortunately true. He’s the closest we have to a “bad matchup“, but fortunately it’s not as bad as some of the matchups we had in iceborne (kushala🤮). Like you said the fight is not difficult, but the fight is not as elegant as we would like because of the random explosions

    • @BlackBeltGamers88
      @BlackBeltGamers88 Год назад +2

      The one saving grace of the Bazel nonsense is you can block his explosions regardless of positioning even if they are behind you (at least it seems that way) so for me I generally instablock the initial hit and go straight into an anchor rage since I run OG explosions are always a yellow buff so that's a sweet 30%. Cracking a 1.2-1.3k cross slash is just *chef kiss* Seething is actually easier. The pop on his head and tail on top of how large the head hitbox is for KO, it's chaotic for like 30 seconds when he enrages but otherwise he's flailing like a toddler the rest of the hunt. Regular Bazel is the worst but I do like that there are monsters that force different play. That means there isn't stagnant design. They also finally changed the damn crab grab. You can block it now. So many times he's doing his burrow and trying to block/dodge/parry just to get grabbed 🤦‍♂️

      Thanks! For those two monsters, you should still be able to use the “regular block and listen” technique. As long as you input instablock’s active block frames to match up with the multi hit frames you’ll still be okay. It is difficult but you can do it with fast fingers.
      The exception is something like flaming espinas ulti, which has some kind of lingering hit box as opposed to a multi hit.

    Aren't there also some monster attacks that basically overlap attacks (or are basically 1 frame apart from each other) on one animation, basically hitting at the same time (or at least too fast for a regular person to tap that fast)? One example that comes into mind is apex arzuros' double upwards swipe finisher

    • @jyugwat2952
      @jyugwat2952  Год назад

      I have instablocked that specific move from apex arzuros, you are correct that you have to be quick with your buttons. I don’t think there’s any single attacks that have “overlapping” hitboxes. The takeaway from my video is: if you can hear the noise(s) on your shield in a regular guard, you can instablock it.
      The only things I don’t think you cannot instablock are valstrax ambush and flaming espinas ulti which hit from “all directions”, and now velkhana’s barf attack which “hits from the floor”.
      You still bring up a great point, for your own gameplay, you might use other options because you can perform them more consistently.

    Because I tried it and after the instablock ist in this animation and I can’t block anything while this animation 🙈
    Or do I need to instablock, then quickly backhop and then instablock again?

    • @jyugwat2952
      @jyugwat2952  Год назад

      You do not need to back hop. If you block successfully with the big flash, you can immediately block again.
      If you miss you will be stuck in the large knock back, and have to wait.

    • @jyugwat2952
      @jyugwat2952  Год назад

      0:12 if you hold the button you will pull out a regular guard after. Tap every hit of the multi hit (even the last hit) and you can do the counter attack at the end. That’s why I’m counting the hits, if I tap 6 times when the multi hit is only 5, I cannot use the counter attack.

    I'm trying to get better with lance and I'm wondering how do I decide when to stop attacking and get ready for an insta block? Only if I'm 100% certain of the monsters next attack? With anchor rage I can use it reactively but it sucks that insta block can only be used from neutral

    • @jyugwat2952
      @jyugwat2952  Год назад +2

      The short answer is will take experience to know when you can squeeze in an extra poke before going neutral to instablock.
      There will be situations where you have to pull out your shield quickly with guard dash or counter thrust. However for large knock back attacks you will want to instablock or anchor rage to prevent chip damage and knock back. Whichever option you choose, your priority should always be to maintain positioning. Good luck and have fun! :)

    • @wetnoodlex
      @wetnoodlex Год назад

      the real issue is knowing when to instablock and just retreating or power guard/ wirebug counter because you won't always be able to connect the cross swipe and it's just not optimal to IB

    • @jyugwat2952
      @jyugwat2952  Год назад

      @@wetnoodlex Then it becomes a question of optimal damage combos. That is a topic I will probably leave to speed runners and those smart math dudes, I think most regular ppl like me will get most of our damage from good positioning.

    • @But_WhatIf
      @But_WhatIf Год назад

      @@jyugwat2952 I used to poke and then just go into the counter whenever I see an attack coming. It's so hard to go out of that rythm because you can get so many pokes in and basically attack nonstop. I also just gap close with shield tackle and spiral trust whenever I need to. Basically a very aggressive poke style with a fully charged crosssweep whenever the monster is on the floor or standing still. It's so hard to switch to instablock because first, I hate that I have to be idle because thats like 3 pokes I could get in and second I usually never block anyway because I always used to switch to counter and then just keep going after 😂🙂

    • @jyugwat2952

      Maybe not a full bar… the bar would just always be full
      The engagement of frostcraft comes from very deliberately doing something defensive you wouldn’t normally do… to charge up your weapon and watch it glow. The act of guarding is way too common to get that kind of satisfaction.
      Maybe if dash attack charged it too?
      You would have to deliberately weave in a max dash attack to your combo. Then as you get the max speed your lance lights up…I think that would be cool
